In my dream, children sing a song of love for every boy and girl.
The sky is blue and fields are green and laughter is the language of the world,
Then I wake and all I see is a world full of people in need.
Tell my why, does it have to be like this?

Dakota was still snarling when Doli, so obviously agitated, snarled at Nic, then hid up in the stones. Dakota's ears flicked back to listen to the humans, but her eyes never left Doli. Great. Another dog who thinks she's better then everyone else.. Just what I need. She intentionally turned to Nic, "Just hid 'ere. We'll be fine, they won't even try ta come down 'ere and if they do, I'll just scare 'em off." She smirked at Doli as she took her spot among the rocks, laying close down to the sand and watching the Human feet searching for them.

((ZOMG, Alaskan, you had the same idea I had! I was totally going to make a puppy character. xD I just couldn't think of a personality or anything.))

Baron

Another airplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know...

"Tia?", Baron repeated. He liked the sound of it, light and delicate, a nice fitting name for the female. Of course it sounded funny coming from his mouth, having the deep, loud voice typical of his breed, but he didn't care. Just about anything even remotely amusing would entertain him at this point.
Her next answer came as a surprise to him, and for a short time he sat in silence, trying to understand her answer. A few days? Surely it had to be more than that. It simply had to. Sure, she admitted to being afraid, but not quite to extent that he was. She didn't shut down at the sight of the bright lights or the honk of a car horn. She was afraid, but at least she seemed strong enough to deal with it.
And if she could be so strong, why couldn't he? The brave, treasured guard dog who could successfully defend his herd from almost every danger.
Then why couldn't he defend himself?
His life had always been focused so much on others. The herd, his owner, even the old sarcastic barn cat that used to tease him, he had invested so much of his time and effort into protecting them that he scarcely has a thought about himself. He'd hunt when his owners forgot to give him food and he'd do his best to nurse the wounds inflicted by his attackers, but beyond that his life consisted of guarding and nothing else. With that taken away he was just a terrified, useless mutt that would probably be dead within a week, whether by starvation or any of the other horrors this city had to offer. The harsh, cold climate he was used to had nothing on this place. His own personal hell.
He had lost track of time, himself. Could it have really been only a few days? It had to have been, he vaguely recognized some of the dogs faces from the strange cement prison they were once stuck in. But he had gotten so lost, he didn't even bother to keep track. Keeping time never mattered to him before anyways. If you survived the day you were good, the clock just reset itself in the morning.
"The same, I guess. I...I really don't know. Not long though. I just remember my herd, then next I was in a cage and now here." He mumbled the answer to her question, trying to rearrange the events in his head. No, there was something between his home and the cage. But it was such a quick flurry of events, he quickly abandoned it in favor of discussing the humans.
"We're safe here, anyways. Humans aren't the...bravest of animals. These rocks would send the rest of 'em running." He said, a small flicker of confidence welling up inside him. This was what he did best. Knowing when it was safe to retreat and when to be on alert. As a guard he was all but useless, but his instinct still remained. Just pretend they're sheep.
Now a bit curious about the origins of the dogs about him, he asked, "So where...where did you all come from? Why'd the humans just...just dump you off like this?" Looking from dog to dog, he saw little reason to abandon them.
Then again, he didn't see any reason for his own abandonment either.

...But I just wanna to go home.

\\..Sasha..//

    For a split second, Sasha cursed herself for approaching such tough-looking dogs. Though she was tall and agile, she felt that she wouldn't stand a chance against a dog like the mastiff mix that stood before her, especially if the doberman decided to turn on her as well.

    But the moment she approached and saw Cookie's wagging tail and kind eyes, all worry flooded out of her like the waves in the ocean, replaced by a warm, friendly feeling.

    "Nice to meet you Cookie," Sasha responded, her voice feminine and silvery like wind chimes. "I'm Sasha." Immediately she liked this dog. Something about a friendly soul inside of a tough, scary exterior appealed to her. She immediately decided that she would like to be friends with Cookie.

    But her first impression of the doberman was quite different than Cookie's friendly appeal. As soon as the doberman turned and growled at her, Sasha's ears pressed back agaisnt her skull and her neck-fur bristled in defense. But before she could bare her teeth, something caught her attention; Killer's face didn't look angry at all. His expression stopped her in her tracks. Her head tilted to the side just the tiniest bit, and she shot a questioning glance to Cookie as the dobie turned and seemed to start speaking to his tail. When he finally greeted Sasha with a wagging tail, she smiled sympathetically at him. She had come to the conclusion that this guy was just a bit insane.

    "Hi," she responded kindly but with hesitation, unsure of how to respond to him. "I'm Sasha, nice to meet you." Well, that seemed appropriate enough.

Yeah, we gotta start lookin' at the hands of the time we've been given
If this is all we got, then we gotta start thinkin'
If every second counts on a clock that's tickin'
We gotta live like we're dying

Philonicus flinched at Doli's harsh words and his eyelid began to dance in an annoyed twitch. His lips curled slightly, flashing his ivory canines. His golden eyes followed her retreat as he stood and padded farther underneath the boardwalk. He relaxed and nodded to Dakota. Tilting his head slightly, he asked, "May I ask your name?"

--I think I'll be on tomorrow, but just in case I'm not, the reason is I'm flying out to my brother's ranch tonight for a nice, totally not relaxing holiday x] When I'm there I'll be on here still though ^^

Pluto;~
{The cruel nature of you and your kind ...I will not break, I will not bend, ...I will not go quietly, I will never bow down to them}

The golden eyed hound nodded agreeably at the male dog's comment, watching as both he and the younger dog left to go outside. That left him and the spaniel. He eyed her carefully, wondering what she was thinking- and if she was uncomfortable being alone with him.
After all, they didn't know each other yet.
"So, you got yourself a name, girlie?" Pluto asked, keeping his tone as conversational as his gravelly western accent could allow. "Guess if we're gonna be sharing the same air for a while I should know what to call you."
He thumped his tail against the floor of the hut, trying to alleviate some of the silence that seemed to have gathered between them. Moving slightly to shift onto his right side, the hound kept his twisted paw away from the ground, curling his haunches around himself.

{So no more will you have your fun, I say no, I won't come...}

------------------------------------------------ & -------------------------------------------------- & ------------------------------------------

Tia;~
{But of all these friends and lovers, there is no one compares with you}

Smiling gratefully at Jude, when she had moved nearer to her, Tia shifted so they were closer. Hearing Baron repeat her name, the striped sighthound turned to face him, wondering how a seemingly strong looking dog like himself was doing out on the streets of California.
When he spoke again, Tia's gaze softened in empathy, wishing she could take away some of the confusion he looked to be feeling. She wished there was a way she could comfort him, but she knew that no words could soothe the wounds of betrayal she guessed every stray dog had felt at some point in their life. Instead, she settled for a quiet whine of understanding, hoping that he could gather some reassurance from that.

I came from Morocco." Tia told him, remembering the feeling of the sand underneath her paws, the way it burned in the sun's heat- nothing like the damp beach sand that the small group had just crossed to get into the rocks. She glanced around, waiting for her friends to explain their stories.

{And these memories lose their meaning, when I think of love as something new}

Blake looked back to Tia, his dark eyes were sympathetic, forehead wrinkled slightly. His tightly curled tail flicked a little, as he adjusted his position. Sighing, Blake forced his gaze upwards again, focusing on the roof of the cave as he said, "I've been here since I left the litter. That's why I'm more used to the cars and people. But you never get used to the sounds." He smiled sadly at the end, "This place is all I've really ever known. It's just... Normal, to me anyway." Blake lowered his gaze to flicker between Baron, Jude and Tia, then back again.
"I hope I don't sound rude, but how come you ended up here?" He asked, warm eyes watching Baron with friendly interest. The city was no place for a shepherd, not one who seemed to only know the country, anyway.

ΗYLVΣΤICΑ

I hang on every breath you take...
You dont need me...

Hylvetica's small frame trembled slightly as she hopped off of the cement sidewalk onto the well-paved street. She quietly padded along, her nails click-clacking on the asphalt. A large machine screamed at her as she bounded around it nimbly. It screeched to a halt and one of the irritating creatures jumped out and began running toward her. Her ears flopping wildly, she took off at a dead run toward the shoreline, hoping to either outrun the creature or make it lose intrest.

Killer
Use me as you will, pull my strings just for a thrill.
I know I'll be okay even though my skies are turning grey.

The moment Killer heard Sasha say hello, he took to play bowing in the sand, "You really think so?" Killer barked a few times, rolling over onto his back then looking at Sasha again, this time with his ears buried in sand and his paws in the air, "Oh. Right. My name is Killer!" He put on his fake snarl again, as if to match his threatening name. Suddenly, the doberman leapt to his feet and put his face close to Sasha's, when he spoke his voice was no more then a whisper, "Listen.. Sasha.. No one here seems to be smart enough.." His eyes flicked to Cookie, then back to Sasha, "But.. Have you perhaps tamed the sand-eater?" His head turned toward the ocean and a shudder ran down his spine a little. Killer wasn't going to let go of this 'sand-eater' anytime soon..

((If you want Killer to notice Hyl, just say something Alaskan. :3 I wasn't sure if you were going for our group or Ikaa's group in the rocks.))
