The small Kittypet padded out of her cat-flap, listening to it shut behind her. Leaping up on the fence, she glanced out onto the forest at the back of her yard. She had heard awful stories of wild cats out there, murdering cats and making their young live on bones. She shuddered. Her red collar jingled as she leapt back down.

She rolled over. "Muuuuuuummmmm!!! When will I become an apprentiiiiiiccceee?? Eaglepaw and Falconpaw just became apprentices, so why can't I?!?!" she yelled. Complaining, she growled loudly. Batting boredly at her mums tail, she glanced at her brothers and sisters.

Cedartooth grinned and nodded. "Yes. I used to be one of them, but.... I just took one of their leader's lives. They are fools, all of them." He laughed, rembering the taste of blood on his tongue.

Brindlewood held her tail tighter. "OK... how about to the streams?"

Eaglepaw weakly smiled at Stormkit, who had apologized for her father's erratic behaviour. He nodded, and then put a friendly a reassuring expression on his face to show to Stormkit. He wanted her to know that he still liked her and was friends with her, even though her father had just disturbed the Clan's peace. Eaglepaw looked back at Emberfeather when she spoke. "I wanted to get out of camp. I bet Leafstar's losing a life right now, Cedartooth struck him very hard," he said, shivering at the thought of Cedartooth taking one of the leader's lives. "But anyway, if you think it's dangerous because Cedartooth's in the forest, why are you out here?"

Indigoblossom
Indigoblossom noticed Falconpaw tripping ove rhis own paws as he approached her, and she cooed softly as her son came near her. She gave her handsome kit a lick on the head. "I'll be right back," she whispered. She nodded to Firestorm and Tigerpelt, and followed them to the Medicine Den. She sat by the entrance, silently watching Leafstar lose a life. Indigoblossom knew it was bound to happen eventually, Cedartooth was eager to destroy everyone for no apparent reason. Cedartooth had inflicted astounding amounts of damage on Leafstar, so the she-cat had expected Leafstar to lose his live. It's tragic that he's lost one so soon after receiving them, she thought. Indigoblossom looked at Duskfall and said, "Are you the new medicine cat, now?"

"Leader's lives? As in the plural of life? Lives?" asked Estelle, obviously puzzle by what Cedartooth said. "But cats don't have more than one life..." Estelle curiously looked at Cedartooth, and laughed lightly, her beautiful calico pelt gleaming in the sunlight. "And I kinda figured they were fools. What rat-brains would pee all over the forest just to try to mark a territory? They must have brains the size of fleas if they think that would stop "intruders" like myself from trespassing."

Cedartooth snorted. "Fools indeed. And yes, I said lives. Leaders get nine lives... my plan is to take every single one of them away from leafstar." He laughed manically.

She looked over at the former queen and nodded "Yes, Leafstar didn't get to annouce it but he has retired.." The young medicine cat replied, glancing back at the couple cats gathering around the outside of the den then looking back at the motionless body of Leafstar.

The skinny brown tom limped through the woods, his paws were numb from the bitter cold of the snow. With a small sneeze he looked around for any place he could shelter. But the out of pure luck he spotted a hollow log which he decided he would stay for the night, with another sneeze he squeezed into the log, thankful that he was out of the winds

She wandered around the camp, wondering what to do. She doesn't really have anything to do so she was bored. Then she spotted her sister near the river and trotted over to her. "Hey what's up?" She asked her sis, Frostpaw. Frostpaw shrugged. "Not much. Just sitting here doing nothing." Lotuspaw gave her a slight push. "That's exactly what I'm doing." She said. Frostpaw pushed back at her. "Hey, if you get to push, I do too!" She exclaimed and soon those two were playing together like a bunch of kits. Then they finally finished, flopping down tired on the floor. "So, anything going on in your training?" Frostpaw asked Lotuspaw. "Meh," She replied. "Just a few hunting techniques." She replied. Then she stood up. "Anyways, I'm going to wander around the camp some more, see what I can do to help." She told Frostpaw. "Call me if you need me!" Then she trotted away.

Indigoblossom flicked her ears in subtle acknowledgment to what Duskfall had said. The she-cat was tempted to ask the newly-made medicine cat more questions, but didn't wish for her to feel as if she was interrogating her. Besides, Duskfall was trying to focus on Leafstar at the moment. Indigoblossom looked at the cats that were gathered around their leader, who was unconscious and losing a life. LeafClan's deputy, Tigerpelt, sat by his leader as Duskfall did the same. I hope Tigerpelt sends out those patrols I suggested, she thought. We have to keep Cedartooth from attacking us. He has the power to at any moment!

"If you hate this... Leafstar... so much, how would he even deserve to be leader and receive 8 extra lives?" said Estelle in the form of a question. It was more of a statement then something she had asked, but she hoped Cedartooth would answer it, anyway. I guess his leader has only 7 extra lives now if Cedartooth has killed one of them off. Estelle leaned down and groomed her glossy tortoiseshell-and-white pelt as she added, "And you say they are all fools? Is there at least one cat in that... group... that you think is okay?"
