That whole idea of Rei not starting a fight for ten minutes? Gone. Vanished, rather. There was no finding it again for a while. She'd have better luck locating a golden pebble in the ocean than she would finding her will to remain passive. Saidi... Was she purposely putting together a plan of attack just for the sake of pissing off the very irritable werewolf? If so, she'd been successful. "What makes you think that's a good idea?" Both of her hands tightened into fists, and she dug her fingernails deep into the skin of her palm to release some of the building anger that made her want to snap. There was no way she was going to accept a plan like that. Kill the vampire last?! "There's no sense in that, Saidi. Ignoring my bias against him, he's too big of a threat to save for last." Not to mention her tail was kinda on the line if she was supposed to wait to take him out last. It's not like she could just avoid a vampire whom she'd already picked a fight with. Plus, she wasn't exactly comfortable with waiting around so long. Call it fear if you'd like, but that vamp could kill her faster than any of the other remaining targets probably could. Just another reason Esmeree wanted him to be taken care of as soon as possible. Perhaps the others had a little more confidence in dealing with him, but she really didn't want to get a bite taken out of her by Harley. It would hurt like hell, and take forever to heal. But, for whatever reason, Saidi seemed fully intent on sticking with her own plan. Rei, however, was not.

Jackson? He was the one labeled Jekyll and Hyde, right? Okay, he was certainly a threat. Saidi wasn't wrong for pinning him down as a first target. And, in a sense, Rei was eager to meet him. Just what kind of potential did Hyde have? How much of a challenge would he be? She knew he was bound to carry just as much strength that Cole did, if not more, and Rei had never dared to try picking a fight with Cole. But would they be any match for him? No doubt they're all have to team up and take him out four-to-one, otherwise they might not find success. Or perhaps Esmeree was overestimating him. No need to give him too much credit, right?Sometimes someone's reputation was scarier than they were. Sometimes... Rei couldn't allow herself to get cocky with that one, though. Either way, Rei didn't try to argue with Saidi this time. Jackson was a threat.

However... Rei pressed her lips into a thin line when Saidi voiced the next part of her 'plan'. Her gaze hardened into a cold glare as her spine straightened, chest swelling as she drew a taut breath into her lungs. "You can help," she snarled. Rei didn't give two craps about what Saidi wanted. Did she really expect the wolf to sit back and ignore every damn instinct that drove her mad while the little Speedster fought her opponent? Absolutely not. She was already attempting to compromise by not going after him immediately, like she wanted to. But she would not pass Harley off to somebody else, no matter how much they wanted to. And if Saidi wanted to fight her on that, fine, but she wasn't budging on this. "Sorry, but I already called dibs on Harley. What makes you think you get to be the one to take him on? You didn't even notice him when he was standing right in front of you." Had Cole really expected her to not be able to pick a fight? Reflecting back on his comment, she almost scoffed. Did he even know who she was? Goodness, she couldn't go half an hour without getting into some sort of dispute. It was an addiction at this point, even if she hated every part of it. Truly, Rei wanted to be more laid-back. She liked herself more when she was in a sarcastic mood, and she usually was, but there were certain things that just pissed her off more than they should. Like Saidi - specifically her specie. Saidi wasn't a bad person at all, but Rei didn't have the ability to move past certain things when they were constantly setting off little alarms in her head that told her to attack. It's not like she wanted to be cold and aggressive. It just... happened. And words slipped out like her tongue was made of slippery ice.

Rei glanced at Cole with a raised brow. So he had visited a bar. The scent of alcohol still clung to his clothes, now that she took a whiff of it. So had it actually been him to beat the daylight out of those few guys? Yikes. Not that she was one to judge. They both had their issues, and he hadn't taken the opportunity to hold hers against her yet, so why should she? Exactly. The mission was important, definitely, so full concentration was imperative. But, hey, a drink or two wasn't going to be that harmful. But Rei didn't even try to get involved in that conversation. She was in no mood to. It was probably best just to say no alcoholic beverages until the mission was complete, anyway. Though she did get curious when Saidi felt his ribs. Had he been hurt? Her brows furrowed lightly, glancing at Cole's face to search for any winces or grimaces, but didn't say anything. Was something bruised? Broken? Fractured? Well, that just wasn't any good.

Letting the others chat for a moment, Rei tuned her ears into the surroundings. Okay, one thing she didn't hate about small towns was the minimal noise they seemed to have with them. It was so hard to concentrate when there was always some car honking or some dog barking or somebody yelling or some street performer blasting. At least here, her ears could manage things and not have to be so frantic. But that was one of the very few things she liked about towns of this size. And even then, the silence of the place was almost uncomfortable. It made it so easy to hear the chatter of people all around, even those just sharing a conversation over coffee or exchanging goods at the local market. For the most of her time, she blurred them out, and they basically became a constant white noise that had made itself the norm for her. But she couldn't help but feel a subtle sense of urgency all of the sudden. Rei couldn't pin a reason to it, but there was a desire to head off in some seemingly fruitless direction. She frowned in that direction, and then flit her eyes to Saidi to see if maybe she was showing any degree of unease like she was.

Clearing her throat, Rei decided to just go ahead and throw something out there to the rest of the ground. "Well, uh, if we're gonna even find anybody, we probably outta start looking for them. Jackson first, right?" She spoke almost frantically, quite ready to at least get moving. She tossed a thumb in the particular direction she'd been thinking of previously, though tried to do so in a more casual manner. Whether or not she executed such in the right way wasn't really her greatest concern. She just didn't want people asking questions, that's all. "How about we head that way? That way sound good to you all? I think it feels like a good start." Her eyes moved between the other three pairs, her brows raised in hope for an agreement. She primarily focused on Saidi, in fact, hoping the one who held the blood of a vampire would maybe have such a feeling, as well.

xxxxxSaidi glanced to Mort when he spoke, offering him a grim smile. "I believe I know my orders. Do you?" Her voice was soft, like she was talking to a child, but she forced every piece of anger behind her words. All right, next. She then turned to Rei, her expression showing her clear irritability. "It's a good idea because I said it was a good idea." She paused, pulling a mocking face of confusion. "Unless, I'm actually not the leader, and Rei overthrew me in my sleep, and I was simply never informed?" Her eyebrows relaxed again, and she rolled her eyes. "Spare me, please." Saidi sighed, fixing the cuff on her jacket sleeve, frowning as she thought to herself for a moment, her eyes narrowing slowly.

xxxxxHer head lifted, and she looked Rei in the eyes. How dare she? Scoffing, she stood a little straighter, growing more assertive in position. Who did Esmeree think she was? Her jaw clenched, and Saidi was slowly earning her temper back. "Pardon my ignorance, really, but... I'm sure I said that I was going to kill Harley. You may have something against him, personally, and I get that. You can also inflict more damage on him. But guess what else? You can receive more damage, and frankly, I don't need you dead." She paused, sighing, "Take that however you like. Not that I needed to explain myself, but I decided to be nice about it."

xxxxxShe allowed herself to look around, finding herself glancing in the same direction that Rei was looking towards. Her eyes wandered a bit, and she sighed slowly. Saidi knew that they would probably end up having to venture in that very direction, but something about the thought gave her doubts. Snapping to attention when Rei spoke again, she looked up, nodding. "Yeah, Jackson..." She agreed, clearing her throat, and motioning in the direction that she'd been looking at, at the same time that Rei pointed in the same direction. Her eyebrows raised at their agreement, but she said nothing about it, relieved that she wasn't the only one who felt that way.

[ A lot shorter than I anticipated, sorry. ]

Cole nodded as Saidi gestured to his ribs, processing her words. So it was to be Jackson first. Jerkyll and Hyde, also known as Cole's "donor". He couldn't help but pause, uncertain, at the thought of killing him, for reasons Cole had spent a lot of time internalizing. More time than he should. Brawn not brains, ass he repeated to himself, trying as hard as he could to believe it. You've followed commands for years. Killed plenty of better guys. What's your problem, you dumb ****? He sighed. "Jackson it is, then. And any other creeps we need to knock off?"

Cole was jolted back to reality by a sting in his side, one bone left behind from the healing. He winced, feeling bruising beneath her fingers he hadn't registered before. "I think that's the last one. Everything else seems to have been cleared up by... Whatever that thing is that makes you feel like your insides have been rinsed with magical healing water." He said. He shook his head, giving vague hand gestures, unsure of how to explain it.

He listened to Saidi and Rei talk, not really giving the slightest damn about who they killed next. "We're going to kill them all anyway, what does it matter?" He grunted, as their conversation escalated into yet another argument. Cole listened to the girls yell, feeling slow and unable to keep up with conversation compared with his social ease before the transfusion. He felt his shoulders tensen, and that erratic voice begin to whisper in his ears again. "Let me out, let me out." It mumbled, almost indistinguishable. Cole swore he would never get used to the fact that he would never feel stress without utter madness again. What happened to even tempered, friendly, Cole? Where had the guy before the transfusion gone? He blinked heavily, trying to shake it off, while regulating his breathing like he'd read on Google. It soon passed, as did the argument.

"Off we go, then." He said, his tone flatter than usual. "Where are we off to, Thelma and Louise? And Mort."

|| Chelsea Kairen || 21 || Female || Shapeshifter || Location; in town || Tagged; Jackson, Harley, Aria ||

At the knowledge of what the girl was Chelsea perked up, a witch, she'd never met one before, they weren't that common anymore despite being feared and known worldwide. The girl just came of as innocent and sweet, not much of a danger at all, at least not in Chelsea's mind. She now also knew the vamps name, Harley? Good to know. She thought to herself, glad know to have a name to put to the fanged face. She shook her head at Harley's dramatics, bearing fangs and all that to show what he was, there was no point. She let Jack answer next, Jekyll and Hyde, she was glad that he wasn't offended by her 'idiot' comment, she had meant it as a joke. She then took the chance and answered the witches question next, "I'm a shapeshifter, I can change my form into that of almost any animal, comes in quite useful and comes with a lot of perks." She said, turning slightly to give the girl a smile.

As she kept walking, heading in the direction of her hotel, the pit in her stomach grew, something was off in this town, she was starting to feel less and less safe in the little nook of a town. She felt like she was being hunted, that something was waiting to jump out at her from every street corner. Was it just Harley making her feel that way? No, she was getting used to him and he didn't feel that threatening anymore, so what was it. While trying to figure out what was stalking her she had almost missed Jack asking her a question. "What? Hmm? Sorry, in a bit of daze, dark thoughts and all that, shadows and dangers, the hotel isn't much farther and yeah reminds me of my home town, it's great!" Chelsea said, not lying when she said she liked the weather, her home, Scotland, could get colder than this, not to mention the cold rarely affected her. Being a shapeshifter meant that she had a higher body temperature and a faster metabolism both of which stopped her from getting cold as easily.

She couldn't pretend that she hadn't sensed Jack's discomfort and she assumed that Hyde must be bothering him, and, she assumed, that when Jackson woke in the morning then it might not actually be him. As she turned the next corner she smiled as she saw the hotel directly ahead of them at the end of the street, at least she had managed to remember where it was. God it would have been embarrassing if she had forgotten. She turned and started walking backwards so she could talk to the other three, "See what did I say, I told you it was close, welcome to the dump of a hotel!" She said, it was still a few hundred metres ahead of them but it didn't matter soon they could all get some rest and then, probably, go their separate ways come morning. As much as she was coming to dislike the thought she assumed that it was for the best and that none of the others would want to stick around much longer than they had to.

Mortimer Abernathy

Location: Town Age: 23 ElementalTags: Saidi, Cole, Rei

Mortimer stayed quiet hearing his leader's words clearly. He didn't need to defend his morals at that moment. She was right they had orders to up hold. As both girl members of the group fought Morty's mind began to drift back to the jekyll n' hyde profile and his father. His father, one of the few he had trusted, was now gone but his teachings stuck with Morty. Morals were everything to his father and in the end they were what caused him to die. If only he had followed proper procedure and used his head.. Morty could feel his hands grow warmer again due to his anger levels rising only slightly. Nothing to alarming, but still Morty had a bad feeling in his stomach every time his hands had felt like they were going to burst into flames. Memories about his father were emotional ones and Mortimer had desperately wished they were not. His father hadn't died from natural causes no he was murdered by one of his many estranged patients. His father had been a psychiatric doctor and many times he met with crazed patients to evaluate their mental state. One of his patients however, had convinced him to take off the restraints. His father, who obviously trusted the patient a little to much had done what the patient wanted. Mortimer didn't know the rest of how his father was brought to a gruesome ending. In fact he didn't need to know. However later on after a few months of his father's death he managed to scrounge up some files back from his father's evaluations. It just so happened they had a file of a teenage boy with a severe personality disorder. From that particular file he could remember finding a few similarities to Jackson who was on this case to that boy. But of course that was many years ago and he didn't know for fact if this maniac in disguise was the one who killed his father.
Mortimer's attention is brought back to the group as Saidi motioned them to walk. The search for the four was now happening. Shoving his hands in his pockets again he follows obediently still not uttering a word. His father's voice morals began to pound in his head. Give people a chance...Don't jump into chaos.. Not understanding other people's point of view and only thinking of your own is only going to hurt you in the long run.. It was safe to say he was having mix feelings about this mission. He wasn't like the others who were oh so willing to take another's life. With another shake of his head however he keeps his thoughts to himself and walks. "Exactly whats the plan when we find them? We just jump right into the action or whatever when we find them?" It was bad enough he thought differently then the others. But did he have to make himself sound so unprepared about this mission?

    esmeree reidain
the werewolf agent || location; hotel || tagged; everybody!!!!

    ════════════════════════════════════════════════════════

Oh, here we go again. Esmeree's eyes rolled as the thought passed through her mind. Ah, yes, what excellent reasoning. Do something because Saidi said so! Of course! what other reasons could there ever be? Certainly nothing better than that. "You know, Saidi, you'd make a great mom. "Because I said so"; what a classic line." Whether or not Saidi actually wanted to be a mother in the future wasn't any of Rei's business, but she wasn't exactly lying when she'd said she'd make a good one. Sure, the line may have been applied in a more passive-aggressive kind of manner, but even Rei had some respect for the woman's innate sense of leadership, even if the wolf refused to accept it and submit to it. It was a trait Esmeree couldn't handle with her temper. She was better off being the one enforcing the rules rather than making them. "Hey now, don't get so defensive." She couldn't bite back a gentle snort, but continued like it hadn't happened. "I'm just saying, you know, he could drain any one of us if he caught us off guard and isolated. And the guy moves quieter than a breeze, I've found, so it's not like he's easy to detect. Sorry if I'm not a fan of letting the bloodsucker run around and potentially try to hunt one of us down before we get to him." She offered an exaggerated shrug during a brief pause. "But whatever, Saidi. If you say leave him for last, why, I guess that means we must leave him for last, no matter the cost or danger that comes with it." No, Rei did not hope the vampire would appear and attack one of them just to prove the wolf right. That would be a cruel, sadistic thought, and even if she didn't get along with Saidi, she wouldn't wish something like that even against her. But Rei was still unhappy with the decision Saidi seemed to have made, and, truly, if the vamp reared his little head, she would be ready to bite it off at any given time, no matter the circumstance or order.

But this next battle was not one Rei would just let pass over. The energy inside of her boiled, adding to a sense of excitement and urgency which pushed her to argue back. Yes, this is what Rei felt she did best; fighting. Eyes lit with a look of vitality, she spat back her replies. "Oh, believe me, I heard you. But if you can recall, I said similar things before, as well." In fact, she'd even called dibs. Rule number one: you don't override dibs without sufficient bribery, and Rei wasn't convinced. "Oh, wow, how heroic of you, Saidi; willing to put your life on the line just so I don't get nipped." The wolf didn't buy it, regardless as to whether the speedster was being completely honest or was just trying to persuade Rei to let her win. Esmeree could handle herself. With a shake of her head, Rei decided she was finished arguing about this. "Listen, I'm not compromising with you on this. You're free to go after Harley, but you can't stop me for going for his throat when the opportunity presents itself. And if you'd like to try to, well, be my guest. I don't exactly recommend it, though." At this point, Rei thought it would be impossible to stop her once she laid eyes on Harley once again. Whether or not that was true was difficult to determine, but she currently had no doubts in her mind.

Hearing Cole's small interruption to her argument with Saidi, Rei sent a glare over her shoulder to him. "Call it a pride thing." To Rei, it was so much more than that, but it was difficult to explain in a way that didn't make her feel like a monster. Yes, she wanted to kill someone. How could she put that into positive phrasing? Exactly. She didn't even want to try. Rei knew that, technically, she was a monster. Mortimer had the ability to create and manipulate something beautiful: fire. He could also bring destruction with him, as well, but there were so many good purposes his power carried. He could warm the frigid, open new paths, bring light to darkness, provide a way to cook something raw... And Saidi, she could do so much good, as well. And a whole lot of danger, too. If the woman wanted, all she'd have to do was speed around and get stabby, but on the other hand, she could rescue so many from danger when they couldn't move fast enough. She could get to the threat before anybody else could and take them out before they even knew what was happening. She could be a superhero if she really wanted to. As could Cole. Only idiots would take him on if they knew what he could do. Sure, he could terrorize the innocent and strike fear into their hearts by breaking a whole bunch of crap and throwing heavy things, but there probably wasn't any one individual out there he couldn't keep safe if he gave them even half of his attention. He was strong, but also a devoted guy who Rei seemed to always identify as a sense of calmness. She found it impossible to believe that someone like him would ever choose to hurt somebody just for his own entertainment. And then there was Esmeree. And she, being plagued with insecurity and an impossible temper, was closer to the nasty lore of the specie than she was any kind of 'savior'. Thankfully the wolf didn't get crazed by instinct when a full moon dangled in the sky. Instead, she was just a little more energetic and quicker to anger. But there wasn't much she had going for her. So no, there really was no good way to describe her intent here other than a deep and undeniable desire to kill a particular enemy. It wasn't heroic, it was blood lust.

So Cole was injured. It wasn't visible to her, and he hadn't seemed to be guarding it too obviously. She figured she would've noticed otherwise. So, in that case, she hoped nobody else would, either. If Cole had a vulnerable spot, it could lead to worse injury if spotted and taken advantage of by an enemy. The problem was that there was no way they could have any of the agents just take it easy. Each one possessed something very necessary, and if they planned to go after Jackson first, well, Cole could very well be the only one who stood any sort of chance when it came to matching the strength of Hyde. Fortunately, Cole seemed to be handling himself fairly well. If the injury was minor or healed up quickly, hopefully it would go undetected by the target when he was approached. That would be ideal. Could Hyde detect weaknesses? Could Cole? Could any of them? It was something to consider. Rei would have to focus more.

Thank goodness, it seemed nobody disagreed with the idea of taking the particular direction. She bobbed a respectful nod to Saidi, now far more assured that she wasn't just antsy. Did Cole and Mortimer notice? She flit her eyes between the two guys of the group, searching for any looks of urgency contorting their expressions, but found that they didn't seem to be twitching towards it like the other two were. She wasn't necessarily disappointed, more along the lines of indifferent. No matter, at least they'd reached an agreement. The wolf wasn't quite sure what the direction might take them to, but hopefully it was something worthwhile. To answer Cole's little question, she jerked her chin in the decided direction, though kept her furrowed brows on him for a moment. He seemed off all of the sudden. A light frown dropped her lips, but she waited until the group had been walking for just a few moments to bring herself up next to him and give his arm a little nudge with her elbow. "You doing alright?"

While walking, Rei's ears perked suddenly when Mort produced a question. She glanced over, taking in the words and thinking through them in her head. Okay, he did have a point. They needed to coordinate what was going on, otherwise they'd be a scattered mess. She hadn't thought of that part of this trip yet. Trying for some kind of answer, even if not necessarily beneficial, she chose to just offer what she could. "I don't know about you guys, but that was my plan. Unless we wanna try and lure him - or whoever - out to somewhere a little more secluded so we don't make a big scene in the middle of town." And then there was another problem; did any of them know the town's structure well enough to do something like that? She certainly didn't. It wasn't hard to reach the outskirts of such a small little place, but it would still be more difficult to go in uncertain of their surroundings. And, with Jackson, it would probably be best to try and get him while he was still being Jekyll. At least get one nice blow in before Hyde revealed himself. Trying to face Hyde head on would be a challenge.

But suddenly, Hyde was no longer an issue. In fact, all thoughts of Jackson vanished from her mind in an instant. An involuntary little noise escaped her lungs, a new level of alertness pulling at her mind. This way, this way, her mind urged. And Rei complied. She took her pace up a slight notch, feeling excited from a certain scent that lurked in the air. She knew that scent. It was familiar, and oddly disgusting but tempting at the same time. Yes, yes, that just had to be Harley. At that point, Rei couldn't focus elsewhere, so despite the fact that the little vamp had found some friends - which was still unbeknownst to her - his overwhelming scent masked the others from her senses. But she didn't dare tell the others. Goodness, no, they might try to veer her onto a different path. She wanted to go this way. Another chance to maul the leech! But as she walked, some common sense came over her. And while she'd been reminded by Harley's scent, it was a good idea overall due to her unsightly transformations that her body went through during any shifts that occurred. Yes, it may have been chillier out than she would have preferred, and the dark clouds that loomed above didn't help, but Rei had come to realize that clothing was really expensive. And tearing through it just to shift was such a waste. Esmeree had since learned that, in order to save money and clothing, she had to go through a little extra work to prevent the unnecessary costs. Under some circumstances, fine, there wasn't enough time to do anything about it. But in this case, well, she figured she had plenty. And so Rei quickly shed her jacket, exposing her arms to the day's colder air despite her reluctance, and peeled the shirt off afterwards, leaving her in a simple grey tank top that had been worth as the layer that would end up being the sacrifice. Next came the jeans because, dang it, denim was expensive. Fortunately, she'd purposely wore black spandex shorts underneath for such a purpose. Now, if she happened to find a need to shift, she wouldn't be losing a whole bunch of money. Of course, when she finally decided she shift back, that would call for a little trip to the changing room because apparently people were uncomfortable with public nudity. It's not like the clothes magically reappeared. And that was why her back was primarily full of multiple duplicates of what she wore now. In such back, she stuffed her removed clothing into the top of it for safekeeping, and then swiftly caught up with the others.

And there he was! Harley! She nearly broke out into a sprint right then and there just to take on the target, but instead she bounded up to Saidi and almost joyfully linked an arm with the other woman, having temporarily forgotten their past disputes. "Looklooklook," she whispered and pointed at the vampire, but it was only then did she notice that the vampire was not alone. And it was then did she feel an unfamiliar sense of uncertainty. She retracted her pointed arm immediately, and even separated herself from Saidi, brows furrowing. He wasn't just with others... She couldn't make out their faces very well, but she could definitely pick up the scent of another shapeshifter. And with a little bit of squinting, she found the other two standing there to be uncanny in their resemblance to the photos. They were all together, the Four, all just standing outside of some shabby hotel that was probably actually within Rei's budget. How had they all gotten together? What kind of joke was this? A quiet profanity slipped out from between her lips, eyes darting about the scene to try and figure out if there was any course of action that could be taken to guarantee any kind of success. That is, if it wasn't too late. It's not like Harley and Chelsea didn't have a sense of smell, too. All of the sudden, the situation felt threatening, prompting her eyes to yellow in their color and for a certain tensity from stress to stiffen her shoulders. It's not that they were outnumbered or anything, but rather it was a fair fight as far as body count regarded. She would've much rather preferred overwhelming one at a time. But now they were here. All of them. All of them together, not fighting, but actually seeming to have managed to figure out how to stand around each other - even the pure-blooded shifter and vampire didn't look to be bickering. How had that managed to happen?

Truly, Rei was afraid. There was many, many things that could go wrong, and she hadn't seen this coming at all. Her mind had formulated the plan that they would find Jackson, go for him, take him down, hide the body somewhere, and move on to the next one. Maybe they would've surrounded him, or perhaps ambushed him. But their options now suddenly seemed quite limited. Charging it didn't seem like such a great idea anymore, but if Harley recognized her scent, well, that would lead to issues between at least the two of them. But the other three would surely not be aware, right? Or would they? Had the vamp warned them about a group of suspicious individuals, or had he kept his mouth shut about it? Rei didn't like this at all. She didn't know what Ariawyn could do entirely, either, or how much strength the witch possessed, and she didn't know what would set off Hyde. Would the other shifter be just as aggressive as she was? Would Harley want to take her up on that fight now that he had reinforcements like she did? There were just too many variables. If it was an option, Rei would choose to try again later, maybe when one of them separated themselves from the rest. But if someone had taken notice of them, it would be a whole lot harder to make a getaway. While there was still a massive piece inside of her that craved to make an attack on the vampire, she found herself capable of holding back due to the uncertainty that kept her frozen.

( role: speedster )xx( gender: female )xx( location: hotel )xx( tags: everyone )

A great mother, she had said. Right. Saidi only laughed in her response to this, shooting Rei a grin. Saidi had never thought of being a mother herself - the idea of a bunch of 25% vampire kids running wild was enough to shudder from. ”If it eases your nerves any, you can call me mother,” she told the werewolf, her red-black eyes bright with the humour of her tone. She fully ignored Rei when she pressed the argument on about when and how Harley was to die: only thing was, Saidi didn’t plan on killing Harley. Not now, not soon, not ever.

It was clear that Cole was still in a bit of pain, and she immediately withdrew her fingers, frowning as a flash of something not unlike pity rang through her. She let herself smile a bit at the joke that Cole seemed to still have the energy to speak. ”I suppose we can thank Jackson upon meeting him, for that.” She pulled away from him, turning to Mort briefly, her head tilted slightly at the expression on the elemental’s face, but she said nothing to him.

”Wait for my signal before you jump in and starting killing everyone. Don’t let them know that’s why we’re there…” Any plan was better than none, right? So with that, Saidi began to walk forward in the direction that her and Rei had agreed on, her eyes narrowed and intent on the path ahead of them. She glanced to Esemeree when she caught up, giving a low wolf whistle at her with a teasing smile. She had taken off much of her layers, probably to save fabric. The science of Rei’s ability to shift was still a mystery to the speedster, and she refused to let herself question it for too long. Saidi, what with her quick movements she’d earned from Harley, was able to stay ahead of Mort, Cole, and Rei. However, every so often she would stop, roll her eyes, and wait for them to catch up.

Al-Hasheem’s breath stuck in her throat when she picked something up ahead, her pupil’s dilating and heart slowing. She didn’t notice Rei was even talking, her eyes fixed on a woman ahead. A woman who must have shared Rei’s blood, but only more of it. Saidi was able to pick up on the sense of it, her ears roaring as her body poured adrenaline in her system.

From Harley, Saidi had earned a lot of his hunting instincts. The one thing the gene pool missed out on was giving her the need to hunt to survive. She had no need to drink to live, like the vampire did, but she sure as hell still had that instinct to hunt, the desire, hardwired into her system. And staring at the shapeshifter, these instincts were kicking in full force, like a punch to the gut. A strange hiss escaped her when she finally swallowed, creeping forward slowly. Yes, she saw Harley from the corner of her eye. Yes, she noticed that Rei seemed to hold something akin to excitement from their find.

But all of those thoughts vanished almost as soon as they appeared. Her body was taught, muscles tense. The colour of her eyes seemed to deepen in the red, favouring the bright colour over the more natural black of her eyes. They were almost pure red in an instant. The thrill of the hunt, she remembered fleetingly. Her hands gripped onto the branch to her right, nails digging into the wood, and she cursed under her breath.

"Rei." Saidi's voice was almost an urgent whisper, and every muscle twitched with the urge to kill kill kill the shape shifter. Forget targeting Jackson first: The girl, Chelsea, if she remembered correctly, was to go first. To die first. She didn't grant Esmeree a chance to respond, surging forward from the tree line, and onto the street with the four they were to kill, but she ignored all but one, her red eyes sharp in the shape shifter's. Her head was tilted slightly, the look in her eyes showed her intent to murder.

harley
the vampire . pansexual . location;; hotel . tag{s};; all
─────────────────────────────────

harley remained silent for the remainder of the journey to the hotel, keeping his eyes trained ahead. he hardly noticed jackson's sudden altercation in mood, and when he did, it was clear to him that hyde would emerge soon. the vamp furrowed his brows, vaguely curious. what would he be like as hyde? him and chelsea got a little sneak peak just a few moments previously, but it wasn't enough to get the full picture. was he murderous, creepy, and cruel? it was likely, since that was generally how it worked. one side of a hyde was gentle, and seemingly average. but the second half held no boundaries, and was completely sadistic.

the pale man crossed his arms over his chest, once again making a fruitless effort to shield out the cold. he was confused; why was he getting chilled so easily? he exhaled softly, hardly making a sound. it was soon decided he would need a distraction; something to keep his mind off of his shivering frame. as the grouping continued to plod onwards, he began to focus more on the scents of his newfound acquaintances. they each had a unique scent, each one more riveting than the last. it certainly hasn't taken him long to regain his bloodlust. really, he felt like it had only been moments before when he'd nabbed some prey in the forest. he chewed lightly on his tongue, suddenly on edge. the risk of harming his new friends lingered in the frigid air dangerously. he'd just have to fight the urges until he could make a getaway, sneaking off temporarily to treat himself.

at last, they arrived at the hotel. it towered over their head; the walls were chipped and all of the surrounding plants were dead. the place didn't look like it was worth two cents, but to harley it was worth a million dollars. it was a room to sleep in, and his droopy eyelids would most certainly have to thank chelsea for this. she could've chosen to make him stay outside, not trusting him enough. but she was merciful enough to permit him this night indoors, despite their awkward amount of distrust. "it's not so bad. i appreciate it all the same," he replied to chelsea, giving her a gratifying expression of thankfulness. it wasn't often someone showed any level of kindness towards him.

before the four could even take their first steps into the warmth, however, harley caught a scent. a new one amongst the others, but not fresh enough to startle him. he immediately could identify the owner of this smell: the second shifter. the one he'd gotten into quite the scuffle with before he'd met the others. he stood rigid, refusing the enter the safety of the building before them. there was danger behind them, he could sense it with ease. more scents poked at his senses, catching him off guard. the identical scents he'd identified before! he knew when he'd recognized them, they were trouble! what did these odd people want with them? harley was fixing to say something about it when a rather unexpected thing happened. for once, he was completely unprepared. from where the dangerous scents emerged, a body flung itself forward. it was a woman, charging forward, standing before the group fearlessly. shock coursed through his body, sending shockwaves through his tensed muscles. his pupils shrank in size rapidly, the redness taking over completely. this woman had fangs. she was absolutely coated in the smell of lust and need, familiar to a vampire. only one species has these exact attributes, and really, her blazing crimson eyes were a dead give away. this woman was a vamp, just like him. but how?! it was impossible! he was the last one, he knew he was. he'd known for years. so how in the hell was this creature standing before him?

when harley finally snapped back into reality, returning to the current situation, he took notice of what this woman was doing. she was legitimately stalking chelsea, the shifter. it all made sense, whether she was a fully fledged and real vampire or not, she would hold a special lust just for a shifter's blood. ordinarily, in a real vampire pack, this would be the time harley should start attacking too. then, the two vampires would teamwork it until the shifter, or whatever victim they were killing, was dead. they were like beastly animals. but harley didn't. no, instead, he did something very unlike himself. he hunched over a tad, stalking over and standing in front of chelsea defensively. he forced his face into the woman vampire's, snarling and hissing viciously. how dare she try and harm chelsea? granted, he was starving out of his mind and a shapeshifter stood just behind him. but he wasn't hungry enough to betray his new friends. not yet. not ever.

harley bared his fangs at the woman, taking a threatening step towards her. his elbows were bent, and his arms were slightly behind him. he was in an animalistic stance, ready to pounce if anyone dared try and harm these people. but he still held some uncertainty in his brave actions; the scents that linked perfectly with his friends behind him had yet to emerge. what was this? some sort of ambush? a low growl emerged from his throat, making him sound even more like an animal than before. "and what do you suppose you're doing?" he hissed dangerously at the woman, eyebrows arched and muscles tensed once more.

JACKSON
✣ jack | jekyll n' hyde | 21 | town |tagged: lol everybody ✣
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

They'd reached the hotel at long last, and jack felt his muscles start to relax in relief. At this point, his face was nearly as pale as Harley's and he'd nodded in amusement when Chelsea put in her input about the weather. The hotel stood tall above them and, they, in it's shadow. The chill from earlier swept through his limbs and caused his teeth to shiver violently against themselves. Hyde was lucky. That brain dead monster couldn't feel anything past his own blood lust. At least, he didn't think that Hyde felt pain. And if he did, he had been an expert in ignoring it. Because Jekyll definitely felt it. Together, the two of them had been shot, stabbed, beaten, and whatever other injuries people got when running away. But since Hyde was like a walking science experiment, injuries like those healed within miraculous seconds. Broken bones took minutes. He really was a killing machine and anything human seemed to get dragged out along with Jekyll. That's why the monster was so dangerous. Hyde was a man who could confidently say he was going to burn the world to the ground. And there were times when Jackson believed he could do it.

The shadows of the far sinking sun were long with the aching drag of exhaustion any day would bring. Jack was so ready to go up there and let his body fall against whatever was available. He could sense it in the others as well. The boy glanced over at Harley and saw how the vampire was watching the hotel with eager eyes. The boy must not have slept in a decent bed for a long time now. Jackson could figure because he'd been feeling the exact same thing. Most nights, the two-faced man would wander aimlessly and most of his travels were done by foot. Public transportation was a big risk for him and the others unfortunate to be stuck in any form of vehicle with him. But as for sleeping arrangements, Jackson usually kept himself a tent and sleeping bag. However, he'd lost those items when he was captured a couple years ago and brought into some mental hospital. After Hyde got them out, they'd both headed to where he was standing now, stopping along the country for weeks at a time until forced to leave again one way or another. Still watching the vampire with feigned interest, he hadn't realized what was going on around him until he felt a cannon go off in his head.

Jack's whitened fists clenched and his entire body went stiff in one immediate second. He had to hold himself in a rigid position and though he was able to register what was happening, he couldn't fight the rage that was boiling up inside of him. Hyde was screaming at him in his head but the words were concealed in white hot venom. Something - or someone - was setting him off in a way that Jackson had never experienced. The boy had never passed out before but he was close to it now, unable to see straight. Hyde! What's wrong? But there was no immediate answer and all he got was the repeated words, Where is he?!, in different levels of anger. Who? Wha- who is that? Chelsea... Look out! It took him a couple seconds to realize his warning hadn't been brought out of his head and the reason of that warning was coming at them faster than he could register in his current state. His jaw was locked, afraid that if a muscle budged, Hyde would break out and wreck everything. So he stood there watching hopelessly until the moment when Harley stepped in front of the shapeshifter. The stranger he was facing looked out to kill the girl Harley was thankfully protecting.

Behind her, he could make out three more people and his eyes locked on a certain male in the group. There. Kill him. Let's kill him. Jackson, let me out you worthless piece of brain matter. The boy narrowed his eyes, trying to make out these stranger's faces - trying to make sense of this situation. But Hyde's words brought him out of his study case and his frown deepened, Welcome back to the living idiot. What's going on? Why him? A pain in his head shot down his spine, signaling that the other guy was really fighting this time. It was so alien that Jack had no idea if he'd be able to hold the other back this time. But this Jekyll half hated killing and hated violence more than anything so he fought back just as hard, keeping his body as locked as he could. He had no idea who these people were but he could tell they weren't friendly. All Jack could do was hope they preoccupied themselves with the others in his small group. If somebody attacked him, he knew Hyde would come out regardless. In his head, the monster was shooting off all the tricks in the book to get Jack to open up but they were all in vain. What the hell is wrong with you? Don't do anything stupid! These people aren't normal - they're stronger and there's four of them. But the relentless mental struggle stayed in his head just as strong as it had been seconds earlier. His knees were shaking and his fingernails were digging into the palms of his hands.

      These people.
      Who were they?

Each of them looked coordinated and walked about with a certain air of purpose and responsibility. The woman that stood just before Harley was venomously watching Chelsea with a certain kind of impulsiveness. But the fact that these four strangers had actively singled Chelse out meant they most likely knew what the girl was. With everyone he'd met tonight, he wouldn't put the idea that these strangers were different out of his head. The other girl in the strange group was just behind the first. But for now, his attention remained on the vampire in front of him, instantly trusting the boy far more than he had when he'd first met him. Because it was Harley who was protecting Chelsea now when Jackson couldn't move. Jack's smile had fallen off his face a long time ago but he switched his focus to the two males in the other group. The first one looked insignificant but gave off a much lesser feel than the witch in Jack's group. He couldn't form any opinion about the boy but something was setting off a little warning flash in his mind. Without knowing what it was, Jackson turned to stare at the fourth member in the group. Again, he felt a rage push him farther to his breaking point. Damn Hyde! Spit it out! Why him?I don't know yet. I just really hate him. He's stronger than human. Stop using your brain for a second and use your instincts. Can't you tell? Jackson was finding using even his brain difficult for once as the fatigue pulled at him a little more every second. His eyes narrowed and he started to feel a twinge of unease the longer he studied the man. Hyde was right. Something about the boy was oddly familiar and he couldn't shake the feeling that Chelsea, Harley, and Ariawyn might be feeling something of the same sorts when looking at the others.

His eyes switched back to the girl standing off with Harley and he had spotted her sharper teeth finally. But... wait. These can't be... As little things started connecting in his complex brain, he put the little puzzle together faster than a normal person could. When something else clicked, he blinked his eyes back on the male. No... How? I'm the only one. My - crap, our - parents are dead. They were the last... There was a long pause and as if something was clouding in his brain, he mentally caved in on himself at Hyde' next words. Now you get it... so..... LET ME OUT JACKSON!!!

cole signet :: strongman :: cis male :: 21 :: bisexual :: relationships :: bio :: tags; who the hecky isn't tagged? everyone.

Cole stumbled through the bushes behind the two, cumbersome and slow, his wide feet crunching dirt and sticks as he stepped and his face colliding with every branch that fell too low. He cursed quietly as a branch snapped beneath his foot, he must be making enough sound to wake every freaky power kid in the area. He hurried, making a conscious effort to silence his footsteps, rolling off the balls of his feet as he skipped through the undergrowth in the group's wake. For the first time in weeks, Cole felt in his element. He had a group, a team of people as screwed as he was, following orders they didn't understand. It reminded him of the military.

For better or for worse. It was the reason he drank, the reason he was the man he was, and the reason he would likely die. Cole thought better than to think about it too hard. Unless it was over a cup of whiskey. A cigarette too, back in the day. But he knew better than to smoke on missions, his lungs were a necessity. Not that his healing factor wouldn't clear that right up.

Speaking of which, he faltered in his steps as they skittered up a rise in the ground, feeling like waves of cold water were pouring down his insides. He shivered, unnerved, but feeling a bit of relief in his side, like a thorn drawn from his flesh. His ribs felt more in the bruised vicinity than the shattered one. But a hush fell over the group. Cole felt like a messy kid on the playground, confronted with a bully. His heart leaped, and he found the pits of his stomach somewhere near the back of his throat. This was what it came down to, a group of rag tag agents crashing through the forest to what would probably be their deaths, as far as The Light were concerned.

He glanced around at Saidi, Mort, and Rei, standing around the clearing. Rei bristled in a way that made Cole think of both hunting wolves, and a hunting dog cornered by a boar. She seemed to bristle with emotion unknown to him, as Saidi contemplated where to go next.

Cole surveyed the group in front of them. He recognized Jackson immediately, and felt a pang of sorrow. He looked like any other guy, any other normal guy.

      The only one who understood.

There was the tall, creepy guy Cole had seen earlier, who Rei called the Vampire. And a girl. She couldn't have been older than nineteen, but Cole judged her much younger. Christ, what had he gotten into? He adjusted his stance, shifting from foot to foot, pacing the agents' edge of the field.

"Good ****ing god." Cole said, shaking his head, his words long and drawn out like it pained him. "I didn't drink enough for this ****."
