"Fair enough." You sigh. "I just don't want to get them hurt. They're good people."

He turns his head and swivels his ears. You follow his gaze - if you focus, you can hear cats talking.

You shake yourself and reel back your emotions just in time for Tag to come running around the corner. A group of eight or nine cats is behind him.

"Well, you're not dead," he says.

"No need to sound so disappointed." You wait until the patrol reaches you before you start to run.

Tag gives you a distasteful look. "Was there anything there after all?"
