A cloak ran through the night, a mysterious bean quickly making her way down a dark and broken trail. Her eyes, just visible beneath the shaded hood were filled with sadness and fear. In her hand, a basket. A scene straight out of a movie. The rain poured down, making the cobblestone path slippery. Her claws clicked against the stone, echoing down the deserted avenue. Suddenly, she came to a halt. A tall building loomed in front of the bean, her hands shaking as she put down the basket. She leaned down on the steps, looking around before opening it to check its contents. Two young jelly bean dragon eggs rested inside with two blankets. The mother ran her claws over the two small objects, closing it with well wishes and hopes for a better life. She stood up, carrying the precious package under an awning. An awning of an orphanage. She turned away, in quiet fear of what would happen next. As she began to walk down the steps, she stopped. A moment passed. No movement in the cold building. Another moment passed, how long would it take for the children to be found. A third moment passes, and with a fluid movement a haunting knock breaks the silence. The JBD takes off at a sprint, running. Running just like she always did.
The house shifts, a JBD awakens. She makes her way downstairs, stretching gently as she yawns. She grabs the staircase as she flicks a switch, spreading warm light across the cold entry. She stands for a moment, looking at the large clock taking up space. Who would be here at this hour? Slowly, she makes her way across the floor. careful to be silent and not wake the children that lay in their beds. With a slow reach she turns the doorknob, peaking outside. The light from the orphanage spills out into the street, dancing in the rain and highlighting the basket on the porch. She steps out, hurriedly grabbing the basket and dragging it inside. It's heavier than expected. The jbd gently shuts the door and pauses before opening the basket. A small gasp rings out across the silent building. Her heart pounding. This was not okay. Two more, two more children. She sighed and made her way back upstairs, trying to figure out what to do now.

--

Takeshi held the file in front of him, his claws shook with a mixture of happiness and fear as he sat in silence on his bed. Was he actually doing this? Was he really going to adopt a baby girl? He looked over the files, she was just barely a newborn. But, somewhere in his heart, he knew he would be able to raise the child. He just had to. He already had the name branded into his brain, Cariña. He hadn't met her yet, but she had already stolen his heart. Takeshi opened the file slowly. It belonged to the elder twin, Cariña.

Cariña is an interesting little thing, she has an explosive personality and mind that captivates those she meets. Although a little hot-headed and vain at first, she's actually quite the charming young princess. She's very charismatic, able to hold her own in a conversation and speak very well. She's quite imaginative to, often surprising her father with tales from another world. This skill often surprises the adults that she converses with to, as her level of maturity is very rare for girls her age.
Cariña is also a very tough girl, carving a path with her natural independence and leadership skills. She often takes charge of situations, leading her best friend into trouble often. Cariña is brave, she's always the first in line to try new things and explore new situations. She's also very good at convincing people to agree with her, and often finds that by being bossy she can get what she wants. Over time, this has become a bad habit for her. Despite her best intentions, Cariña often ends up controlling those around her. It might be her charming demeanor, her excitable attitude, her willingness to try new things, or possibly the extreme amount of cuteness she knows she possesses.
The young princess is also a very hard-worker. Cariña knows what she wants and she has the determination to work for it, reaching her goals rapidly and with success nearly every time. She deals with the same distractions that any bean faces, but often tries to combat them and prioritize what needs to be done. However, this doesn't mean that Cariña has her wants separated from her needs. She has trouble knowing what she needs and what she wants, and often finds herself being asked the question, "do you really need that honey?" Takeshi is slowly teaching her to only take what she must have, and to give what she doesn't to those who do. Cariña is learning about generosity, and she's taking to it very quickly. She is also naturally empathetic. As she learns how to make people feel better a weight seems to lift off her own shoulders, causing enjoyment in the little girls soul.

The first few years were hard. Takeshi was lost, stumbling around the maze of parenthood with a beautiful daughter by his side. He thought he could learn everything he needed to know from a few books, but reality is so different. Money wasn't a problem, and Takeshi spoiled his princess. She is everything to him, and he would do anything for her. As Cariña grew up, she began to question who she was at an early age. Takeshi made sure she knew that she was adopted, but he also made sure that despite her background she knew that they were a family. Cariña, despite having no doubts about her father loving her, still wonders why her birth parents didn't. She began to struggle with this at an early age, always having doubts and questions about who she was and who she is. Yet, Carina is strong and always finds that her home is with Takeshi.
As Cariña began to grow up and her personality began to develop, she began started to show interest in things that nobody else in her family did. Her different hobbies and passions were new to Takeshi, but he to learned to show interest in them. Cariña's main interests being princess's and other things Takeshi was educated in. Yet, being the good father he is, Takeshi agreed to let her have princess toys and he would always watch the movies. Seeing Takeshi make an effort to bond with Cariña helped her realize that what she liked wasn't wrong or bad, it was something that made her feel good about herself and made her unique.
Cariña also began to find a passion in art around the age of three. She has always had a big imagination, and by drawing she felt like she could properly display that creativity. Over time, Cariñas walls began to fill up with drawings of her favorite princess dresses and fairytales, along with some imaginative creations of her own. Cariña soon found that she was running out of room, so Takeshi began displaying them on the refrigerator and in other places. At first, she was a little scared of having the work in other places. She was worried about what other beans would think of it and how they would react. But, when they began to compliment her Cariñas confidence grew. She knew that taking a risk once in awhile wasn't a bad thing at all.
Unfortunatly, as every year passes, Cariña has grown to dislike her birthday. Despite being on Halloween and receiving presents, its still a sour reminder of her adoption. She loves the cake, the presents, and especially the princess parties, but its not her true "birthday" to her. It was merely the day she was found on the doorstep of an orphanage. Cariña despises going to school on that day, its the only day she doesn't want the spotlight to be on her. She much prefers to celebrate on her adoption date, as that is the day she knows she met her father and truly was loved for the first time.

Cariña turned a corner, frilly dress dancing behind her as she laughed and squealed happily. She smiled brightly, the edges of her mouth tense from the cheer that had fallen over the house. It was just Cariña and Takeshi today. The four year old ran to the door, placing a hand on the handle eagerly. "Dad can we go outside?" She rocked impatiently on her feet as Takeshi slowly turned the same corner, laughing. "I'm ready whenever you are." Cariña smiled and dashed over to him, grabbing his legs and giggling as the cloudy sky split for a moment to let a ray of golden light into the house. Takeshi picked up his daughter and rested her on his hip as he looked outside, "You know, it might start raining today."
Cariña looked into Takeshi's blue eyes before looking outside and tilting her head as she processed the information. "Can we still go and play?" She asked sadly, her smile fading into a frown. Takeshi put the girl down, she was growing rapidly and getting too heavy to hold for more than a few moments. He nodded and smiled, "Sure, but if it starts to rain we have to come back inside, okay?" Cariña's smile grew again as she appeared to disregard the last part and pulled open the glass door with a huff and puff. She held her tail up high as she entered the yard and spun around on the patio.
Takeshi smiled happily as he looked at his daughter, she had already set up the table before they got dressed. It was a silly little thing, the pink plastic table near its breaking point. It had four small chairs, usually a little big for the tiny family. Luckily, Cariña had invited two guests. She had chosen two of her favorite stuffed animals to take the chairs, a dolphin being the first. To be honest, the dolphin scared Takeshi a little. He had discouraged his friend, Pann, from buying it for the girl. But, per usual, he had gotten the stuffed animal/pillow hybrid for her adoption anniversary. The second was a sweet teddy bear. Takeshi had a special place in his heart for this one however, as it was the first toy he bought his daughter.
Cariña straightened out the bear guest with her claws, making sure that his hat was on right and that he was sitting up straight. The teddy bear was Cariñas absolute favorite plushie, the toddler often carried it around with her. She corrected its bow tie as Takeshi took the feather boa that was at his place setting. "So, what are we having for tea today Princess?" He said in an awful fake British accent. Cariña scurried around to her setting next to Takeshi and grinned, setting her claws in her lap as she patiently thought of what to say. Takeshi patted the feather boa down a little so it wasn't tickling his nose.
"Its... Honey tea!" Cariña smiled proudly as Takeshi took the tea pot and pretended to pour tea in each of the little cups. It was more than a little awkward. Takeshi was already too tall to sit at the table properly, his legs were off to the side and his tail was wrapped around the legs of the chair in an attempt to keep himself balanced. He chatted with Cariña about what princess' have to do when they meet someone new, or about how hard unicorns are to tame. Takeshi put the teapot back on the little plate and pretended to take a sip of the tea. Cariña followed and Takeshi complimented her on just how delicious the tea was.
Cariña giggled joyfully, her tail wagging slightly.
The youngster began to talk again after she finished her cup of tea, but stopped when a raindrop fell on her nose. Takeshi felt one on his claws, Cariña saw one land in her teacup, and within seconds it had started to downpour. Takeshi stood up rapidly and told Carina to take the guests inside so they wouldn't get wet, while Takeshi grabbed as many pieces of the silver ware that he could before risking dropping anything. He waddled inside, arms full of plastic cups and plates. The two stood by the window, watching their tea party become flooded.
The two stood in silence for a moment, sadly looking at the party that was now ruined. Takeshi wished he could have magic powers in moments like these, just make the rain go away. But, Cariña had another plan. Her eyes lit up as she had an idea. She ran into her room and grabbed some blankets as Takeshi put the utensils on the counter with a sigh. He felt a silent tug on his t-shirt as he thought. Takeshi looked down to a young girl holding a bunch of blankets and smiling excitedly, She threw them up into his arms and said, "So what if plan a doesn't work! We can watch a movie instead!" She skipped over to the tv and plopped down next to the collection of DVD's Takeshi kept. Many of them were princess movies, although he had a few horror movies from his single days in there.
Takeshi knew exactly what she meant, he dragged the blankets over to the living room floor and put them down, telling Cariña that he would put the movie of her choice in. Takeshi grinned as the rain hit the roof, he spread out the patterned blankets on the ground and let Cariña hand him the movie she wanted to watch. Not to any surprise, she picked her favorite, Tangled. Takeshi kneeled down by the movie player and set up the disk while Carina grabbed some pillows off of the couch and got under the blankets. Takeshi grabbed the remote and crawled under the blankets with Cariña. he pulled her close and pressed the play button on the remote. Cariña crawled up Takeshis back so she could see a little better without having to move her neck so much. She pulled the blankets over her shoulders and watched the movie peacefully, laughing when Takeshi did every so often. The rain continued to pour over the house dousing it in quiet and peace for the next hour and a half. Soon Cariña found herself drifting asleep to the sound of Takeshis breathing and the rain.

Cariña looked around the corner, grabbing the wall with her claws. She looked behind her at her friend Marvel. Marvel stood behind Cariña, "Can we go yet?" The two stood crowded in the hallway, waiting for Cariñas queue to run into the kitchen. Cariña had a plan, her father had helped them make cookies a little while ago but he said they couldn't be eaten until after dinner.
Cariña poked her head around the corner a little more, allowing her to see her dad trimming his prized cherry trees. They were the only thing Cariña wasn't aloud to play with in the backyard, being from japan and all. He was currently prepping them for the next seasons blooming, so he could get as many cherries as possible. Cariña smiled, he looked to be very focused on the short trees. She nodded and grabbed Marvels hand, racing across the living room giggling.
Cariña tried not to laugh with Marvel, as not to alert her father to the antics the two were getting up to. She snickered and peeked around the corner, despite her fear of getting caught Carina still broke rules. She felt the anticipation and excitement course through her veins with every second of mischeif. Plus, Marvel was here! She couldn't leave her out of the fun! Soon Cariña focused again on the task at hand, taking those cookies.
Cariña smiled and happily made her way over to the cookie jar, straightening out her blue shirt before standing on her tippy toes and grabbing a few. Marvel stayed by the door and watched Cariñas dad take care of his trees. Cariña giggled and held some of the cookies that Cariña gave her, she moved over to the door to check their surroundings again. Cariña continued shuffling her hand through the cookie jar, trying to grasp just a few. They were still warm, and a little mushy.
Cariña grabbed roughly 6 cookies in total, although a few were broken due to her difficulty reaching them. She finally stepped back and made sure both of the girls had 3 cookies. Cariña grabbed Marvels hand with her free one, and looked out into the hallway to find the perfect moment to run back to her bedroom. A few seconds later, Cariña nodded and made her way back across the hallway. Marvel followed in close pursuit this time, anxious to make it back to the safety of her friends bedroom. After the duo escaped the danger that the hallway held, They ran back into Cariñas bedroom and collapsed on her bed in happiness. Cariña kicked her feet up in joy, another mission made complete by the friends. She sat up and began eating the cookies. They were chocolate chip cookies, Cariña and Marvels favorites. Marvel also began to eat hers, curling up on Cariñas bed and looking at the drawings that adorned Cariñas walls. The two enjoyed their prize in simple silence.

Takeshi hurriedly wandered around the house, cleaning up as fast as he possibly could. He was nervous, he always was when Pann was coming by. Cariña stood by the door, small hand gripping the teddy bear she held in her claws. "Daddy why are you so nervous when Pann comes by?" Takeshi flicked his tail, trying to find any dirty spots left in the window. Spray bottle and rag in hand he answered, "Because Pann is my friend, and we wouldn't want him to think we are messy now, do we." Takeshi moved on from the window and set the cleaning tools on the counter in the kitchen, his daughter tagging behind him. "Do you like Pann?" Cariña smiled cheekily, her grin throwing Takeshi into a blush. "Cariña, he is just a very good friend of mine." Takeshi opened a cabinet and put the items away, sighing in relief when he was finished. Cariña knew that there was something more than friendship between the two, she just couldn't understand what.
Cariña tried to stuff her teddy bear in her pouch. Nope, still too small. She pulled on Takeshis leg. "Are you sure you don't like Pann?"
"As a friend, he is a lovely person." Cariña felt two strong arms pick her up and set her on the counter. "As something more? Darling, no." Cariña frowned and crossed her arms, throwing around an overly dramatic pout. Suddenly, a doorbell rang out. Takeshi stiffened up, picking up Cariña and setting her back on the ground. He scurried over to the door, taking a deep breath before opening it. "Pann!" Takeshi smiled and hugged Pann, wrapping his arms around Panns waist and holding him for a longer time than most beans would with friends. Pann moved back a bit, letting his arms rest on Takeshis hips. "Is Cariña here?" He looked around the corner as Carina came running out from the kitchen, grabbing Panns legs and laughing. Takeshi moved Panns hands away from him and said, "I should go finish making dinner, it should be done within a few minutes."
"Do you need any help?" Pann offered happily as he closed the door and let Cariña continue to grab onto his legs. Takeshi told Pann that the table needed to be set, so he joyfully grabbed a few plates and began to make the table. Cariña sat in the doorway between the kitchen and the dining room, having Pann step over her feet every time he wanted to change rooms.
"Cariña why don't you move into the living room so Pann doesn't have to jump over you." Takeshi put the macaroni and cheese in a small bowl for his daughter while Pann picked up Cariña. He sighed a little bit before saying, "I don't mind, she's small enough I can easily step over her." Takeshi smiled and continued putting the food in bowls and serving platters. "Why don't you two go sit down. I'm almost ready."
Pann nodded and carried Cariña out into the living room, setting her down on the ground near her chair. Pann sat down at his chair, looking around the clean living space. It was probably surprising that a house could stay this clean with a four year old daughter. While he was distracted, Cariña took her chance. She jumped into Panns lap and looked him in the eye. "Do you like my dad?"
Pann was quite shocked by the question, he did like her dad quite a bit. But, well, he wasn't sure he felt the same way. Pann took off his crown and set it on Carinas head, hoping to distract the girl. She simply giggled and asked the question again, grabbing onto his shirt and making him blush. "You do!" Carina squealed happily, laughing in joy. Pann sat in a flustered state, "C-Cariña darling, n-no I don't."
Cariña giggled and gave his crown back. "That's what he said." Carina thought about what had happened earlier, "He even blushed just like you did!" Pann slid back in his chair just a little, embarrassed. Finally he got Cariña to quiet down and stay quiet about what had happened. Soon enough after the incident Takeshi came back out, serving dinner for the three of them. They sat down and began to chat, both Takeshi and Pann praying that Cariña would stay quiet about the questions she had asked earlier. Meanwhile, Cariña was distracted by her food. Just as the child was expected to, she had forgotten about her questions and moved on.

"Yeah... but I don't WANT to eat that."
Just like most kids, Cariña is an extremely picky eater. She is often spotted turning her nose up at most foods that are
offered to her. Because of this it is extremely difficult to take her out to eat, or even serve her a meal. However, if
you follow these three basic rules you might have a chance of her eating it. If its not touching the other food on the
plate, not a vegetable, and isn't something completely new there is a pretty good chance of her at least trying it.

"Cariña what are you doing?" "Playing with a bottle cap."
Cariña tends to have... an odd habit. Practically anything you leave out in the open can and will become her toy. She
can turn a few pencils into a walking beast who scares the people of Pennydale out from their jars, receiving strange
looks in public when she (very rarely) goes out to eat. Yet, when on long car trips, this quirk proves to be useful.
Much to Takeshis approval he can give her a few spare coins and a pen so she can amuse herself. Despite being a little
strange, it's a good thing at times.

⟨Wʜᴀᴛ ɪs ɪɴ Hᴇʀ Pᴏᴜᴄʜ?⟩

Fairy Wand
One of Cariñas most prized possessions, her fairy wand is a great addition to any princess or fairy party. Decked out with blue ribbon and a plastic star hot glued on top it is one of Cariñas favorite things. The fragile thing is handmade, the main handle being a plain blue wand that she took upon her self to decorate. After applying some glitter to the handle (and the floor) and gluing a light yellow star to the top Cariña was still unhappy with the design. So, she added three blue ribbons to the top point of the star. Playing with the wand both makes her happy and proud that she created such a fun gadget.

Teddy Bear
Cariñas teddy bear is special to her for more than a few reasons. The little thing was her first toy, given to her the moment Takeshi met his daughter for the first time. Its a little tattered and broken, having a sewn up neck and patch on its knee. Cariña sleeps with it, plays with it, sometimes she even brings it to school. Takeshi would prefer if Cariña wouldn't bring the poor bear to school with her, he worries about her breaking it. Yet, the object is one of comfort for the little bean, so it often ends up going wherever she doesn't feel safe.

Bottle Cap
Cariñas bottle cap is unexpected, it is a play thing to keep her mind distracted from boring situations. It is currently the only object that actually fits in her pouch, and she carries the thing quite often. However, not many people know about it. She likes to turn it in her hands in class, slowly spinning it as she solves math problems. It helps her focus, somehow. Cariña doesn't exactly remember where she got the bottle cap, either. But, she doesn't question it and makes sure she has it in her pouch at all times.
