ok so anyways i have the worst timing

i pulled up phil's cover of toxic and played it whilst intensely mouthing the lyrics and jumping around the living room like an idiot and then i got really into the screamo part so i closed my eyes and then turned around and my mom (who was supposed to be grocery shopping) was hyperventilating, whilst watching me.

she came home within the ten seconds i got really intense. and to make it worse, she doesn't exactly like rock music. so you can guess she probably doesn't like screamo either.

I don't like the thought of parents restricting their children from expressing themselves just because their opinion on aesthetic or beauty is different. may it be the internet /not regarding bad websites/ or music or clothes /not regarding inappropriate/ ... it's just not good

My grandma doesn't care to what I listen to, I mean I'm a heavy Disney music fan, I like we the kings ect . But I was watching phil and dam just talking and it was all a black screen. I was laughing and everything and nan walked in and she was like "What on earth are you doing" so I had to explain to her everything.

How do you guys go with asking your parents or guardians to buy Merch from phil and dan or any other youtuber? It's quite hard to explain it for me.

my mom is extremely christian, (i'm christian as well, but not as strict.) and she thinks that children who listen to scream are satanists by default. i really hate it. i wasn't allowed to have safari on my phone until a couple months ago, and they still have a lot of restrictions set on it. it really sucks. a lot.

I might not be the best example because my parents are quite tolerant with everything but I explained it to them somehow like that;
these youtubers produce creative video content, may it be funny, helpful or uplifting. they inspire me and make me happy and they do that with quite a lot of other people through their videos. I really admire their work and their positive personality.
well, and then I kindly asked for supporting their work and at the same time making me incredibly happy with maybe buying some merch?

idk, I really don't know if this is helpful at all because - as I said - I never really had a problem with that, my parents know my obsession with youtubers and because of my past they are as happy as can be when I surround myself with the most positive and uplifting content.


EDIT: I'm really sorry to hear from all of your restriction. I won't say I understand how much that sucks but I can imagine. I'd wish for my parents to talk to yours because we are also a christian family, not as strict though.
I don't understand how restricting people that much should help them in any way. it's just horrible

yeah, same. my friends always insist on buying me merch for my birthday, and i always have to be like "no no no sorry my mom doesn't like people who cuss, and she will not rest until she has found some extremely unusual and cruel way to punish me."

and a lot of the girls at my school wear mcr shirts (even if they don't listen to them *sigh*) and if i ever walk up to them and compliment it to be nice, they usually laugh and ask why i don't have an mcr shirt if i like them so much. it especially sucks because i always have to hide music and youtube.

yep. and I'm still torn between finding them incredibly cute or annoying. idk. to me it doesn't really make that much of a difference whether or not phan was/is/will be a thing or not. I just like the thought of these nerds being together may it be platonically or romantically. :D
