question asked:
What happened to the phandom in 2012? Like apparently Dan got kinda anti-phan etc? Did they address this in their videos and tweets, or was it just a feeling in the air, so to speak? I'd really appreciate a short run-down, if you'd be so kind I'm a new phan shipper so if there's bad blood I'd like to know to not risk being offensive. (I also heard abt a V-day video on Phil's channel but if this is off-limits topic just ignore it)


the answer they gave:
i just think that “the fame” got too big and too much for dan to handle at the time (we’re talking 2012-ish yes). like it all happened so fast and they both got a lot of followers and stuff. and a lot of people shipping them and throwing phan in their faces (which is still to this day very rude, so pls don’t).

they, or dan, didn’t make a video explaning what was going on. though i just believe that something personally was happening in both dan and phil lifes we’ll never know about. but dan did freak out at random fans for being phan-shippers. he was rude to people if they as much as said phan. which was of course not very nice of him, but hey can’t blame him too hard you know. people were over analyzing every single glance (which people still do and ugh move one with your boring lifes jesus he just looked at him) and it made him uncomfortable and it got too personal, so he just kinda got mad at everyone.
but i don’t think he directly made post/video/tweets about it. just kinda, didn’t really touch phil, didn’t spoke of phan or any jokes about his and phil’s relationship/anything gay. actually didn’t really like talking about phil at all.

i guess you can say that there wasn’t much “brotherly love” happening between them at that time.

but what happened in the past happened… and now they both seem so much happier and more comfortable and i just really, really like that. and who ((had to take this word out)) cares if they’re in a relationship man.. just look at them! their whatever they’ll like to call their friendship is amazing and i wish i had something ilke that. even if they’re not ---------- ((i had to take this word out as well)) ;)

about the v-day video though… let’s just leave that one and the “dark phan period” in 2012 and move on, shall we? <(^_^)>

most of it's not important, you really just need to know present dan and phil and that they get shipped a ton.
sometimes the phandom is a jerk. but that's not all of the time; some of the fans are more defensive than they should be??

this is honestly true. a lot of the girls at my school that watch youtube were really rude to me because they had been watching them longer than i had, and also becayse i didn't realize that the cat whiskers were from pinof for a while.

i only know one person at my school who watches dan and phil and she's quite fun to interact with.
i feel pretty lucky to be in the "better" side of the phandom, where people aren't as rude.
i hope i'm not mean when i stay stuff at least. i really like you guys, and i would hate to be shunned because i didn't realize something i was saying was rude.
