"Hey, Dandelion," you say after a pronounced stretch of silence. "What did you mean earlier?"

"Which earlier?" Dandelion tilts his head.

"When you said you can't die," you say. "What does that-?"

Card laughs. "Ohhh, you don't know, do you? Dandy here's got a magic power."

"Or he's just insanely lucky," says the tom behind you.

"All one around these parts." Card flicks his tail and looks at you from an almost upside-down angle. "See, Dandy's unkillable."

"Not for lack of trying," Gabber says.

"When he was first brought out, they decided there was no use for him, so they sent him out to get torn apart in some border fight." Card laughs again. "And what happened, Dandy?"

Dandelion's eyes widen even further. He lowers his head. "Do I have to...?"

"No, you don't," Gabber says. "I'll say it - he was the only one who came back alive. Everyone else was killed, and he had miraculously escaped notice by hiding."

"So they sent him on another dead-cat's walk," Card says. "And another, and another."

"They just can't get rid of him." Gabber nods proudly. "That's why you're so lucky you have him as your patrol partner. If you stick close to him, you won't get hurt by anything."

"Doesn't matter the situation," Card says. "He's gunna get out just fine. I'll bet you if a building fell over on us right now, he'd be standing right where the one broken window is."

"None of the captains or lieutenants like him," Gabber says. "They think he's bad luck for any patrol."

"But he's good luck for a soldier, so keep him close," Card says. "He sure helped you out, didn't he, Blitz?"

"Here and there," Blitzkrieg says.

"We're the only patrol who'll take him," Gabber says quietly. "But then again, it doesn't really matter who we bring, does it?"

"Not on the Fury, no," Card replies.
