I chose that name because her markings remind me of a bird's wings and avian is a word the refers to birds.

It was in the early fall, the perfect temperature for oversized cozy sweaters and hot tea. Avian smiled as she carefully stretched her legs out on the branch she was on. Her tail swished calmly and she gazed lazily at the sky, listening to the birds chirp around her.

Fluffing out her fur, she hummed a quiet tune and wrapped her tail around her body to sit on her lap. It was a beautiful autumn day, the best one she's experienced this year, the air was crisp with the occasional breeze that caused shivering. The sun was shining brightly and leaves fell around her, occasionally getting caught on her whiskers and ears.

She watched the leaves for a bit, then quickly, but carefully, snatched a particularly dry one out of the air in front of her. Being rather interested in plants, she inspected the leaf, tracing every vein with her eyes and gently rubbing her fingertips over the surface of the brittle leaf. After her curiosity was satisfied she crushed it and watched the bits drift to the ground. Avian smiled and closed her eyes, enjoying the light breeze rustling her fur. She began to doze off when she felt something land on her lap.

After opening her eyes she was greeted by a particularly small robin. Trying to not frighten it, she slowed her breathing and stilled herself. It took all she had to keep herself from squealing in joy. The bird stared up at her, it's head tilted curiously. Very slowly she lifted a paw up to pet it, but unfortunately it took this as a threat and flew off. As she watched the bird fly away she was in awe. Having a bird land on you was a once in a lifetime chance, and it just happened to her. This was definitely something to remember.
