Crowpaw tried not to let out a wail as well. She ran into Softberry's storage. Oh what was it? Honey soothed... Tansy did too. She ran back to Tinypaw's side, pressing his chest again, letting out more sand. Water! He needed water! She ran to the oasis with some moss from the den. She dipped it in the water, casting a confused glance at Hawkcry and Coyoteclaw. She ignored the two and ran back with the dripping bundle. She dripped some in Tinypaw's mouth, hoping it would help. "Just swallow it Tinypaw, okay?" She looked at her friend. No. More than a friend. Her... crush. Yes. She looked at her crush with pleading eyes.

[[ The two were out in the desert having a race back to camp. Crowpaw makes it there first with Tinypaw just about close until he stumbles over his paws and his sent tumbling across the ground. He gets sand in his eyes and as well gets a large chunk of it in his mouth causing him to start chocking. ]]

{Ah, thanks Canada for clarifying for me! ;n; Poor little baby.. I will be sure to include my cats' reactions to this when I respond. Do you care if like.. Jackalhowl comes up to them or something and offers some assistance?
Edit// Oh, dang.. I just realized. Now that Tinypaw's hurt, Scorchstar will have to leave Troutsplash and go see what's going on. After we were so close to getting to Shiver and potentially Troutsplash's ceremony, too. :'D Oh, well.. We're already moving at a turtle's pace, anyway.}

The petite molly observed the tom apprehensively as his muteness became progressively lengthier Have I done something to disquiet him? Surely nothing I said has distressed him or he would have heaved himself away from me, he is not the type to linger if some displeases him, that much I am sure of. Her thoughts hung on the notion that her words may have caused the silence, certainly they had, but as his voice once again echoed in her ears, her muscles relaxed. She let out an amused purr, her whiskers twitching in response to his question “You are by far, the most enigmatic cat I have ever laid eyes upon or have had the joy of knowing” she meowed firmly her tail lifting, curling itself under his chin as he spoke again. She purred at his words, He is, by far, the most interesting tom I have ever met. she thought with amusement. Her fur prickled slightly as his tongue rasped lightly across her nose, was that… affection… she sensed? She brushed away the tender feelings the softened her own heart and listened delicately to the words he spoke. “You are but a mouse in my claws” she mused, her voice low as she contemplated his words, “Somehow, I feel as if you are the mouse that fights back against those claws, but maybe, once all is said and done, you will be the mouse that gives in” she purred, her eyes soft, but a confident leer settled inside of them.

♛ ( gender ) male ♛ ( age ) 42 moons ♛ ( rank ) leader ♛ ( location ) beside the oasis lake ♛ ( tags ) troutsplash
x Scorchstar, still in a pleasant and chipper mood than usual because of Batpaw's uncharacteristic excitement at his proposition, watched the worn out tom pad off. He meowed one last farewell to him, and, just when he thought he could relax for a bit and think in silence, he turned about and found Troutsplash. He faintly remembered seeing the deputy-to-be sitting off to the side, watching the leader and the apprentice talk, and felt guilty about not talking to him earlier. StarClan knows how long the patient feline had been sitting there, awaiting the tall tabby's attention. He meowed, emerald eyes losing a bit of their glee when he saw the nervousness in the warrior's gaze, growing a little concerned, "Good evening, Troutsplash," The orange tabby's eyes roved over the grey-brown tabby, and his head tilted to the side a little.
What had he sent the tom out to do again? Oh. Oh, yes, catch the stupid rogue that had stolen a rat from the fresh-kill pile around dawn... With all the chaos of today, Scorchstar had honestly forgotten the warrior's task, yet tried to cover up his brief bit of confusion. "Sorry to keep you waiting... Wait, you didn't complete your task, you say? No bother, really." He twitched his whiskers and lifted a skinny paw, waving it in the air nonchalantly as he spoke. "Rogues getting away with things isn't very uncommon, as you know... If the outsider dares to come back, and I doubt it will, because it knows you and the patrol were looking for it, we'll give it a few wounds across the snout to remember us by. But, if you didn't catch the trespasser, I certainly won't punish you for your efforts. I'm sure you pursued the rogue with all you had, but if it got away, I won't lose sleep over it, and neither should you."
He's almost.. frightened of me. I can't have that. Troutsplash and I have known each other since we were kittens, and though we weren't always the closest of friends, surely he knows that he can trust his own leader with not flipping out on him for making one simple mistake? The massive, thin tomcat thought, mulling over Troustplash. He paused for a moment to recollect his thoughts and focus on the subject of this other individual that the patrol had dragged in. Another rogue? Of course. The bat-eared leader should've known. Scorchstar licked his lips and narrowed his eyes, still trying to keep his voice light when he continued, "I wouldn't mind at all. I'm keen to meet our newest visitor." His emerald gaze slid upward, slowly, drifting from the warrior's face to the nearly-pitch-black sky above. "But we need to make it quick."
Although.. before the deputy to-be could muster up a response, a terrible wailing that bit and clawed at Scorchstar's impossibly large, bat-like ears filled the Oasis. He, immediately, pivoted on his heels away from Troutsplash, his eyes losing their contentment and faint bit of happiness in a split second; they went from wide, emerald orbs that shone as bright as the stars above to grave crisps of flint. He swung his angular head about wildly, and eventually discovered who was screeching so loudly so late at night - Tinypaw! What had happened? Why was the medicine cat apprentice hollering at the top of his - ironically - tiny lungs? Scorchstar was too far away to scope out the details of what was happening, and, in the looming darkness all around them, it was a struggle to even make out Tinypaw's white and gray pelt.. much less decipher what seemed to have gone horribly awry. Instead of muttering a "Great StarClan, I must help!", Scorchstar, voice gruff, muttered, half to himself, half to Troutsplash, "What has happened now?"

x Flarepaw noted, mentally, how awkward she'd seemed to have made things for her and Moonpaw. Ugh, another bad move by me.. I thought I would be doing something sensible and worthwhile for once during this conversation with her by talking like a normal individual, and now she's as uncomfortable as I am. Fantastic! Nonetheless, the black cat pushed these misgivings and hateful thoughts towards her stupidity aside, and responded, simply, attempting to ease the tension that was still electrifying the air between the apprentices, "You're welcome.. Anyways, thin fur is both a blessing and a curse. Not too helpful on chilly nights, but a really good thing to have on hot days. Well.. I don't always have it good on sunny days. A pelt as black as mine can attract warmth like you wouldn't believe. Oh, I've stopped in Softberry's den countless times for sunburns, and have also gone to the Falls many a time to rid myself of the heat." Flarepaw shuddered slightly, recalling the aroma of singed, cooked fur that always seemed to lurk around her. No, Moonpaw had it easy, except when it came to hunting, that was. With a pelt that wasn't a magnet for the sun's rays as well as a pelt that was a decent length, the ivory she-cat had it made!.. While the leader's daughter could never hope to escape the blazing sun that always, mockingly, smiled down upon her every chance it received, and always smelled like sweat and dead skin and fur.
Then, suddenly, the heart-stopping, ear-shattering noises of a cat's sobbing screams filled the air, and Flarepaw immediately was jolted from her thoughts. Her ebony fur shifted to stand on end, her claws shot out and embedded themselves in the sandy earth underfoot, and her ears flattened on their own accord.. The cat who was in clear pain was terribly close to her and Moonpaw, and the ringing of their cries in the apprentice's oversized ears was almost unbearable. Flarepaw, whimpering, sank to the ground and covered her massive ears with her paws, biting her tongue against the urge to tell whomever was the source of racket to kindly shut up. The black, skinny cat didn't even care who was in such distress, and didn't care what's sort of predicament they were in - she didn't care! All she wanted was for the cat to stop caterwauling and relieve her ears of the awful, pounding sensation that reverberated throughout her skull, her very being.

x Noeyes' ears sensitive ears pricked and stood erect when she heard someone else pad up to her and inquire if she could stick around to hear the elder's tale. Quickly, the Russian blue distinguished her voice to be feminine, and could easily guess who the kind cat was. She rasped, "Quailfeather? Is that you, my dear? Oh, no bother! Of course you can listen in.. Today's tale is one, of course, of adventure, but also.." Her voice trailed off a bit and her brow furrowed and her whiskers began to tremble. "One of sadness and tragedy.." But soon enough she was back to her bubbly self and was happy again, excited to begin her story. "Ready, you two? Settle down, because it's a long one!"
The elderly female took a great, deep breath before beginning her lament on one of the most complicated and confusing warriors that DesertClan had ever known: Jackalhowl. "Now, this was a long, long time ago.. About.. how many moons was it again?" Noeyes paused and thought, scrunching up her nose and frowning before continuing, her voice upbeat, "Oh, yes, about thirty moons ago - Quailfeather, you may remember this tale, by the way, hun - there were once two brothers: Jackalpaw and Grasspaw. You both of course are familiar with Jackalhowl, but, haven't probably heard of his brother. Now, I don't mean to be a gossip, and I surely don't mean to hurt good old Jackalhowl's feelings, but.. this story is on his relationship with his brother before he.. passed on and left this world, if you know what I mean." Noeyes paused then, head twisting from Quailfeather and Silverkit expectantly, wanting some commentary on how she was telling her tale to them. She thought she as doing very well at keeping the story mysterious and enticing and full of suspense, and, just for effect, The Russian blue paused and waited for some appreciative feedback.
But before Quailfeather and Silverkit could respond to her words, a horrendus noise filled the elderly cat's sensitive, pricked ears. It sounded as if some cat was choking! Noeyes, grunting, got to her feet and tossed her head to and fro, trying to pinpoint where the terrible coughing, spluttering noises were coming from, but she couldn't tell where. Curse my lack of sight! Some cat could very well be dying and I can do not a thing to help, as usual! The Russian blue thought, gritting and grinding her teeth as she continued to listen to the hacking, shuddering coughs of a feline in distress. Then, she turned to face Quailfeather and Silverkit, who still had said not a thing. Nosey, voice raspy as ever with panic and angst, meowed, "What's happening, what's happening, you two?"

x Hawkcry noticed, out of the corner of his eye, a black shape dart past him - he could tell by the cat's scent that it was an apprentice, Crowpaw - and he flicked his ears towards the noise of the skittering of paws on sandy earth and the sound of retching and coughing and spluttering. Though the dark tabby was curious as to what was going on, and even though he felt Crowpaw's scrutinizing, surprised stare rest on him and Coyoteclaw, he ignored whoever was spitting their lungs up and the black cat. He was so lost in the stare of the younger warrior's below him that he couldn't bear to wrench his gaze away.. and, so, he didn't. He simply stared at Coyoteclaw with a foreboding, wicked look in his eyes and that antagonistic sneer on his maw as he listened to her next words.
Still playing along and nudging his anxiety about his plans for DesertClan and where he stood with Coyoteclaw to the corner of his mind, he leaned back slightly after he lapped at the molly's nose. Quickly, as he expected, the dark tabby was rewarded with the fawn and black cat's tail beneath his stout chin. The ferocious, hulking brute let out a low, crooning groan, which didn't sound like it should come from a feline's jaws, and leaned into her tail, enjoying every mere second of her closeness. He was so enamored by the female's delicate touch that he scarcely noticed the confusion in her golden eyes and the hidden questions that lay there. Hawkcry was aware of nothing at all, except for the fact that he was absolutely adoring the attention he was being given. But when her tail at last straightened and repositioned itself, teasingly, at Coyoteclaw's side, Hawkcry straightened himself, drew himself up on his toes, and kept that sardonic, utterly dreamy grin on his face as he shifted. The male, murmured, voice seductively low and deep and intense, "Ah, but you do not know the breed of mouse that you have - so quickly and effortlessly - caught. True, true, I will fight as hard as I can, like my struggle against those metaphorical claws is my final battle, but.. I'm not the type to capitulate easily. You underestimate me, dearest Coyoteclaw. Though I am inexplicably drawn to you, don't be so speedy to think that you can keep me, the mouse that is seemingly helpless, caged in your grasp.. Because, when all is said and done, I may not be the mouse that stays, but, rather, the mouse that breaks free."

♛ ( gender ) male ♛ ( age ) 36 moons ♛ ( rank ) warrior ♛ ( location ) desertclan camp ♛ ( tags ) mossleap, crowpaw, tinypaw
x "As do I, Mossleap.. A do I. The lowly kittypets think that they have it made, hunkered away from their wild brothers and sisters, in the company of horrific creatures - Twolegs - while we, are the ones that are living the good life. Being free? Oh, being free is worth all of the prospects of comfortable nests and safe shelters that the Twolegs provide for their little toys. Though we have had many a struggle out here in the desert, everything, everything has been worth it, in my opinion. Something tells me that you agree with that," Jackalhowl murmured, distantly, as he, politely studied his Clanmate as he spoke. Well, he didn't really study her, not all the way. He was there, at the tabby she-cat's striped side, but also thousands upon thousands of tail-lengths away, in a world of his own, as he often times happened to be. He was there, watching her, but his mind was thinking elsewhere.
He followed her green gaze when she twisted to look at her thinly-furred flanks and then the thick, fluffy fur on his own haunches. Her eyes watch the wispy furs as they move to the blustering wind of the night, and they eventually settle on the main coon's large, extravagant ear tips. The shy tom flicked his namesake ears as she asked her - quite silly - inquiry, yet he responded, with some amusement in his mew, "Of course it does. At times it is unbearable, but at other times I... like have such absorbent fur-" The main coon wanted to continue, but, all of a sudden, an animalistic, terrifying shriek ripped through the night air. Though the piercing screams made Jackalhowl's ears flatten, and his pelt bush out until it was twice his size, he was on his massive paws in a heartbeat. He, not sparing a second, swiveled his broad face around to face Mossleap, who was still sitting down in equal shock, and hissed, "Someone's in trouble! We've got to help, c'mon!"
And the fluffy tomcat didn't even await the warrior's consent - he was already gone, speeding off across the Oasis and sending dust and grit and pebbles flying every which way in his wake, towards where he'd heard the unholy wailing. Jackalhowl, upon arriving on the scene, saw Crowpaw - an apprentice with insomnia, he knew - hunched over the medicine cat apprentice, Tinypaw, who was by far the grumpiest toms the senior warrior had ever encountered in DesertClan. The tomcat strode purposefully forward, tail lowered, ears flat in an attempt to block out Tinypaw's screeches, and, when he was within a tail-length of Crowpaw, he gently tapped her on one of her shaking shoulders with his paw. Jackalhowl, voice straining to be heard over the wailing of the cat nearby his feet, shouted, "Crowpaw, what's happened? Is there anything I can do to help?" He glimpsed how the black cat was trying to feed Tinypaw some herbs, but the little, fuzzy tomcat wasn't complying, and added, "Maybe I can hold him and open his mouth for you? That way you can get those herbs in him."

♛ ( gender ) female ♛ ( age ) 29 moons ♛ ( rank ) rogue ♛ ( location ) the desert ♛ ( tags ) rainwhisper
x The shock and flat out mortification in this "Rainwhisper's" eyes made Ant's skinny, whip-like tail arch high and curl in the air. This was just too good to be true! She'd never interacted with a DesertClan cat on a more.. romantic level, but now that she had? By mouse tails and cactus spines, they sure were fun to toy with! Apparently, the blue-grey cat before the rogue had never been flirted with - not wonder her green eyes were so round and so wonder her ears were so flat with shock! Ant, blinking once, so fast that it looked like she hadn't, "shut off" the luminous glow of her golden orbs and slowed them to return to their natural hue. She knew that she was scaring Rainwhisper out of her wits with these boisterous, cocky words of hers, so she "lowered the boom" and backed off a bit - figuratively as well as literally. The skinny, sandy-colored feline also knew that her eyes had done their job, and had done what they always accomplished - ensnare prey. And Rainwhisper was caught like a fly was in honey. No matter how hard this blue-grey cat wanted to escape now, alas, she wouldn't be able to, else Ant herself help release her from the sticky situation she was in.
The fright, anxiety, and bit of ire in the Clan cat's eyes was still there, replacing the former friendliness in those green depths when Rainwhisper surely realized that she'd probably made a huge mistake, choosing to go down this route with Ant. Ant, who was by far one of the most clever and manipulative cats in the desert! Hah! It's good that you realize what you've done, and it's good that you know who's in control. Not many think that I am higher above them, and yet, you do.. You are scared of me and what I will do to you. You act as if you've just encountered a coyote or your worst nightmare!.. If one of your, say, arrogant Clanmates took a look at yours truly they'd cackle and try to fight me and chase me from the lands. It is obvious that you seek to attack, hiss, growl at me, but you are aware of who has the upper paw. What you don't know, however, is how to gain that upper paw yourself and steal it from me. And that's excellent. Excellent. Wouldn't want you to be the master of me! Not like you ever would be, Rainwhisper.. Though you seem to be pretty smart, I doubt you're as smart as me, in all honesty. For example, if I took one look at me, I'd think, "Nope, nope, nope, steer clear! That cat's bad news!" But you opened yourself up to my flirting and talking to you with my sweetened words. What sort of intelligent - no, sane! - cat would do something like that, eh?
Ant, smiling with distant malice, took another step back, and felt - no, watched - the tension between them dissipate. Rainwhisper's fur was still ruffled from her close encounter with the bony rogue before her, but, now that Ant had given her some space, she regained some of her bravado and tried to steel herself. She noticed that the Clan cat's eyes never strayed from her face - only a few times, to look at her pathetic physique - and once more, inwardly, complimented her golden eyes for doing their work only too well. This cat couldn't even look away from Ant for more than a few heartbeats! The sandy-colored, long-legged, and thin creature then said, once the blue-grey cat before her had finished, "Well.. one's flexibility can always be remodeled over time." Her mew was raspy and coarse, and the rogue realized then why she had even left the DesertClan camp.. To get some water and a decent night's meal. She couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten or drank, and due to this and her sudden realization that her hunger needed to be vanquished soon, her throat suddenly felt as if it were full of prickly pears. She swallowed, quickly, to ease the pain of these needles in her throat, then continued, sweeping on with a twitch of her nose and a bat of her eyes. "Ah, a threat? I don't mean to threaten, oh, silly me!" She then , her voice a little scathing and cross and scoffing, "Please.. watch your tail? Really? You need not be afraid around me, I assure you. There are far worse dangers out here, especially after dark-" she raised her tail to the pitch black sky overheard to emphasize her words "I don't want to be your enemy, and I don't want you to loathe me with a passion, Rainwhisper. If anything, I.. I would like to forge a friendship with you. After all, you're the first 'Clannie' I've met that doesn't want to rip my throat out and feed me to the buzzards, so I respect that wholeheatedly. Finally, at long, long, last, I've encountered someone who has some sense in their noggin. Anyways.. if you don't want a friendship, then merely an alliance would suffice, and nothing more." She widened her eyes like a doleful jackal would, and threw a cavalier, sweetened smile Rainwhisper's way, as the blue-grey cat was watching her incredulously as the rogue spoke.

Both of my silver ears swivel forwards as a petrifying yowl rings through the camp. I barely have a moment to gather my thoughts before Jackalhowl is racing over to help. I follow behind him, squiring my eyes as I shake sand from my whiskers. Jackalhowl suddenly comes to a halt just outside of camp, and I dig my paws into the sand to keep from bumping into his haunches. I stand and shake sand from my whiskers. Rounding Jackalhowl, I gasp. "Oh My Starclan! Crowpaw what's happened?!"I stand beside Jackalhowl, wanting to help but clueless as to how. I crouch beside Tinypaw. "Shhh-shhh, quiet Tinypaw." I whisper softly "You're going to be all right." I listen as Jackalhowl speaks to Crowpaw. Giving a small nod, I take a step away from the apprentice, allowing room for the two cats to work. The small apprentice looks terror stricken, and I send a silent prayer to Starclan for his well-being.
