You look at Blitzkrieg, who nods, and cautiously trot after Gabber. She leads you down the slope, where grass, vines and bushes crop up around the muddy water.

"They're not going to be very big right now," Gabber says, prowling around with her eyes locked onto the stream. "But they're much fresher than the crap they feed us back at base."

"What do they feed you at base?" you ask politely.

"Garbage and stale rats." Gabber's pretty face wrinkles in disgust. "It's liable to make you sick if you're not used to it. Unless you're the cream of the crop, then you get only the highest of caliber."

You focus on watching for frogs.
