So I have some news to share about my life right now. Nothing bad just for a heads up. I am a proud mother of two gray cats that I think saved my chihuahua many injuries
I swear it will sound like something out of a story book, but it is 100 real. So... I come home from school and my mom informs me our two grey cats (who are brothers) are in the backyard. This is normal, we always let them outside, because they love it out there and they stay in the yard. So anyway maybe 30 minutes later my jack Russell pup tears up one of the cats favorite toys and she gets locked in her kennel. This is vital to the outcome. So almost soon after I get a freezie pop, go outback with my dog scooter and watch the hummingbirds drink the feed we put out for them. Okay so my yard is pretty big and we have a lot of garden space, so I can never pinpoint where the cats are and sometimes my dog, but I am always sure they are fine. Until my dog screams out and comings running out from the garden, with a huge brown tabby after him. I swear I never seen a more muscular cat, it was huge and looked evil. Well he cornered my dog in between the shed and the fence, advancing on him, I ran to get the rake, yelling at the cat in the process, maybe 5 seconds it took me and as im running back, one of the grey cats, I gave him the warrior name Smokefang, Beelines at that cat for a full body tackle. Smokefang is pretty big himself, out of the two brothers, is is definatly very strong, but I never expected he would be about or would even consider protecting my dog. They squirm, Am I start freaking out cause, the cat is still stronger, and he was biting my cat everywhere he could reach. Scooter gets away in the confrontation and as soon as he races off, my other grey cat, the warrior name I gave him being AshTail, races up and latches onto the attacker, defending his brother. During this whole process, I went to grab the hose, alI I just hear is screaming from the cats, my mom left to get groceries so I could not get her so I just did what I thought was right. I did not even turn the hose to jet in time to watch the brown cat race off, Both my cats hot on its heels, before it leaped over the fence. I am grateful my cats did not jump over the fence after is because they would be long gone after it. I suppose they considered the yard their territory, so I dunno. Smokefang only had fur missing from his neck with no cut, but claw marks on his underbelly and some on his side. We have not found any bite marks that punctured him so that's great. AshTail had no injuries besides being grazed on his side. To be safe we took them to the vet to make sure the wounds were treated ect ect nothing was wrong luckily. I am so proud of them, even if their intention was not to protect scooter, they did and I'm so grateful, considering my jack Russell was not out there to protect him. I just had to share this considering we are all cat lovers and my cats did something extraordinary. <3
