1: Back on track

3: Dunk you both
4: Dunk you both
5: Hold my own
6: Dunk you both
Roll says... 6: Dunk you both.
"I am gunna dunk you BOTH," you promise. "As soon as we find some water, you're both going in, you hear me?"
"What if I dunk myself first?" Thimble says. "What're you gunna do then?"
"I'll find a big pile of mud and push you into it."
She jumps away from you. "That's just cruel!"
"Let's see how 'young and beautiful' you are then." You grin. "At least a warrior can handle a little mud."
"There's a difference between a little mud and a-"
Scat holds up his tail.
You're already a few fox-lengths away from your destination. There's a stone wall, just low enough for a cat to jump over. Beyond it is an air of silence.
You look back to the road. How did you get over here without noticing? Thimble looks surprised too. You can't see Scat's face, and his body language gives away nothing.
He stops for a moment, and then jumps onto the stone. He looks back to you and jerks his head, then hops back down onto the other side.
"That's weird," Thimble mutters. "Why's it so quiet here?"
"Yeah." You frown at the wall. "Yeah, that's weird."
You follow Scat over with Thimble in tow into a flat, empty place. In the cracks of the cement, grass and other weeds have sprouted, and the buildings here are silent, cold and overwhelmed by ivies. Smooth rocks are placed here and there, sometimes in piles, for reasons you can't decipher. Some of them are tall enough to hide a dog, but you can't smell anything here. The area branches into dark alleys and crooked roads that don't seem to lead anywhere.
Your uncertainty returns tenfold.
"Ihearsomething," Scat says. His huge ears are swiveling this way and that. The rest of him is utterly still.
"What is it?" Thimble asks. Her voice is quiet.
"Dunno." He jumps onto one of the piles, craning his neck. "Iseesomethingtoo. Outthereinthedark."
