- ► Gillian mimicked the snicker mockingly, staring him down just as much and chuckling to himself at River's comment.
xxx"These people all want the same thing, a cure, right? It would be so easy to just call you a couple of bad eggs. Nothing but selfish children who want to let out others' secrets, it's pathetic." he muttered to them, glancing into the warehouse and licking his lips weakly.
xxxHe sighed and smirked deviously, realising that letting them 'walk all over him' might have given him an advantage. The man was cunning in his own way, and could easily make an attempt to pit the rest of CRUCIAL against these few. He shifted around them, staring them down and not letting his gaze leave until he was by the door. He snickered at the girl's words.
xxx"You have a clever mouth, it's a shame you don't have much else about you that can match your wit," he started, trying to argue back with a similar mocking tone, his voice an aggressive hiss.
xxx Gillian bit his lip, coming close to shooting them but trying to create a mental map of the consequences and advantages. He would be rid of them, the boy at least, but would have to justify killing a teenager. The older man shuddered to himself, his cold eyes moving between the two youngsters. Processing Emma's mocking tone, the man clenched his teeth a little, gritting them. He smirked to himself, nodding in agreement at her and forcing himself past them and back inside, striding casually to the medical area. Undoubtedly, the man got some stares and glances, which was bound to happen with a wooden shaft sticking out of the man's shoulder. He hid himself away, trying to edge the arrow out. Eventually, it slipped out, the head still firmly attached. Gillian sighed with relief, realising that he would probably be able to live without infection though he had to owe it to the boy for not catching on anything too vital; it came close to hitting his shoulder blade, but the arrowhead rested contently against it in the man's shoulder.
xxxOnce the arrow was manoeuvred out, Gillian took his jacket off again, his pale torso again visible. The man rubbed the wound with antiseptic and helped himself to some more antibiotics, glancing about for help with the bandaging. He doubted he could do much at all with the placement of the gash left over, and set off back to Mason, having made himself another cigarette before he did so. He made his way over, taking a long-needed drag on his cigarette, before smiling dully at the man. Blood was running down Gillian's back, watered down from the antiseptic and creating thin, ruby lines down to his midriff as it trickled down, only a line or two at a time.
xxx"Could I borrow your hands?" he asked casually, trying to keep his voice low. He exhaled as he spoke, careful not to get the smoke in Mason's face. He was in more pain than earlier now that he had started to calm down, but hoped that the pain would numb down again with the painkillers he had taken beforehand.
