Sky and Earth,
Health and Sickness,
I ask of a deed, dear magic elements...
GET ME OUT OF THIS ALIVE!"
"Fine."
I can tell my response took them by surprise, but it is the one they wanted.
"Great! We start tonight." Fetch says, pulling off his green leg warmers and jacket. Since pets don't exactly need clothes to cover up any, uh, parts that don't want to be seen by others, we don't really react. He pulls on all black clothing, and tosses me and the Red Twins some black clothes too. "Dalton, Jessamine, Miss. Parkles, head home." He orders.
Once Ruby, Crimson and I are in our black clothing, Ruby approaches me. "Hey. Just hold still, okay? They might recognise you as a Staff Dog- None mortal. I'll fix that." I watch as she busts open a box of fur dye and fills a small tray with lots of paint. She applies the fur dye, and then her rabbit jumps in the paint and covers me in it, jumping all over me! I feel horribly sticky. Here's a picture.
I look horrible. Is that how mortals dress?
We pile into the back of the van and sit there is silence as Fetch drives us away from the school. By the time we reach the place, it's dark and stars light up the sky. It's a giant mansion that Fetch has driven us to. We all clamber out and huddle in the bushes.
"Right, everyone. We'll get in there by ourselves and meet up in the living room." Crimson organises. His sister and Fetch nod, I just sit there like![]()
Before I can as questions they all run off in different directions. How would I get in by myself? I can't climb up to a window... So I stroll up to the front door. It's unlocked. I let myself in and head to the living room. No one is here yet. I wander to the kitchen, pop the kettle on and make myself a cup of tea. A few minutes later Crimson and Ruby stumble in, looking out of breath, followed by a sick looking Fetch to find me sat there sippin' my tea.
"H-how'd you get in?!" Pants Ruby.
"Uh... the front door." I respond with an extra loud slurp of tea just because I'm feeling smug. Fetch elbows me.
"Alright, smarty pants." He grumbles, handing me a map of what seems to be the vents of this place and a route drawn in red ink. "Here is the route to where The Book is held. Follow it and retrieve that book at all costs!" He says, unscrewing a vent door and practically shoving me up it.
Great. Now what?
