☁ Evan nodded to follow Nova's agreement with him, the silence that settled around them not an uncomfortable one. He had hardly cared about losing the contact with his family, his mind more to the money he had lost after being cut off from them, business different when you didn't have the group to give you your assignments. He glanced towards Nova as she mentioned twenty questions, his eyes sparkling as he laughed.

"Are we in high school now?" He chuckled at her playfully, "But I'd love to." Evan looked to her as he pushed himself back on the couch, tilting his head back comfortably with his gaze still fixated on Nova. He pulled a silver flask from the pocket of his jacket, taking a quick sip of the whiskey he usually had on him, preparing himself for the game Nova had offered forth. He remembered playing back in Ireland as a kid, usually at parties where the kids only tend to ask who they all had crushes on at the time.

► Gillian strode through the place suspiciously, trying to find River, then glanced up to the rafters as he realised where the boy liked to hide. He smirked a little and made his way to his room, getting out his gun and readying it before leaving and moving up and up until he was as close as he could get without having to start climbing, watching the rafters carefully. The older man almost narrowed his eyes as he watched carefully for movement, glancing about. His eyes darted from beam to beam as he observed the area, moving more carefully and quietly as he carefully looked about.

xxxEventually he found himself nearer the farther end of the warehouse, smirking a little as he noticed a shadow. He tried to keep himself behind beams and other objects to stay out of the direct firing line in case the kid had his crossbow on him again as he moved nearer. "You don't need to hide, boy." was all that the man said as he bit his lip, cautiously watching the area where he thought he had seen him.

♦ River stiffened as Gillian began to approach. He gripped his crossbow tightly which had been at his side, pressing himself against the beams and being careful to breathe. He heard the man remove his gun, fear beginning to grip his chest though he promised himself he'd be fine, watching Gillian through narrowed eyes, trying to keep his breathing from growing rapid. The voice of the man touched River's ears and he shivered at his tone.

"You're definitely someone to hide from." His voice was a growl as he loaded a bolt into his crossbow nonchalantly, making sure the click of the bolt in the barrel was loud enough to alert Gillian that he was armed. He wanted nothing to do with the man after what he'd done to his sister but he was smart enough to know that killing him wasn't the best alternative.
"What do you want?" He pressed, his body shadowed by the overhanging rafters, "My sister isn't here." He added, wondering if the man was only looking for Troy.
"I bet she's already escaped to the city by now," River sneered at the man, "You can't keep your eye on her forever." He snickered coldly, curling his lips in a snarl as he clenched his teeth, bringing the crossbow to his eye level and practicing his aim towards Gillian on the floor below.

► Gillian took a quick step near to some debris as he heard the click of the crossbow, the noise alone sending chills up his spine. He tried to discretely point the gun towards River in return, trying to keep his eye on where the boy's voice was coming from. "I don't want the girl," he said slyly, the words bouncing off his tongue with a threatening undertone to them, though they were cleverly half-disguised as a sweeter, softer-voiced comment, but his aggression was evident. He raised his eyebrows as he smirked gleefully and gazed upwards at him, cocking his head slightly to the side and almost grinning as he gazed warily to River. "I can certainly try to keep her, though. The longer the better." he snickered to himself.

xxxTaking a step forward and gazing up at the boy, the man sighed and took a careful drag of the cigarette. "If you want to shoot me, do it while it's only us." he commented, challenging the boy and moving back towards the debris that he was almost using as a shield from the boy's weapon.

♦ River felt Gillian's chilling gaze against his skin but he didn't let this phase him. Most of the fear he had for the man had subsided after he shot his sister, rage the sole emotion he felt whenever Gillian drew closer, "You want her for something if you shot her to keep her in your walls." River's voice was nothing short of hostile, never once disguising his tone with softness as he knew Gillian was aware of how River felt towards him.

"Doesn't matter much anyway," He spoke casually as he ran a steady hand through his hair and relaxed against the beams, "You can pin her against things all you'd like and she'll always find a way to get away from you." He smirked, defending his sister. Troy had little interest in River's safety here at CRUCIAL, one of the reasons she'd left him in the first place. This was just one thing that'd keep her safe, which was all he was worried about. Her ability to leave people behind and make selfish decisions is what saved herself in most situations.

River grinned wildly at Gillian's invitation to shoot him, resting his crossbow beside him, "I'd rather have an audience." His words were spoken in a sly snarl, gaze fixated on the man beneath him who was armed as well. River knew the man could shoot him where he stood but he didn't believe much in his aim and he thought he was smarter than that. If word spread that Gillian was out to kill CRUCIAL members he'd be swiftly sent out.

► Winking, the man nodded creepily. "I love it though, it gives me a sense of control." Gillian hissed out the last word, making it sound more like a disgusting, perverse whisper. "Watching her struggle. I love it." he said zestfully, smirking at the boy. He wondered himself how River felt about the man speaking so oddly of Troy, taking another quick drag on the cigarette. He nodded in agreement at River's last comment, still holding his gun out as an empty threat.

xxxHonestly, he would have shot River right there, but he knew better. He knew the consequences, and couldn't let it happen. He needed as many as he could within CRUCIAL's walls for them to survive, but the temptation ripped at him like it was a beast tearing into its prey. Gillian sighed to himself, slowing his breathing to try and resist firing at River.

xxx"What has you hiding, boy? Too afraid?" he mocked, though he instantly regretted it and smirked devilishly at the boy instead, hiding the discontent he suddenly had towards himself for setting off the seemingly inevitable path to his demise, at the hands of a teenager.

♦ River didn't tense at the comments about his sister though gave a disgusted shudder at the way he described their encounters, "You need to find someone a little more... yanno... your age." River rolled his eyes at the man as he clenched his fists, gripping tightly to on his own shirt, "I bet if Kingsly caught you in her bed again you'd get more than a knife in the side." River spoke casually about the matter despite his discomfort thinking about it all.

River let out a chuckle at his remark about being afraid, pushing his body from the shadows and laying on his stomach on the beam, dangling his arms over the rafters as he glared down at Gillian below. He folded his arms neatly under his chin, staring down at the man with eyes gleaming with curiosity.
"Afraid?" He snorted, "Just being cautious. We both know what you're capable of, sir." He tacked on the final word mockingly. River had paused for a moment, studying Gillian as he stood below him, biting his lip as he surveyed the man.
"Why her?" River asked suddenly, raising a brow in interest.

He watched River adjust carefully, furrowing an eyebrow at the sarcastic use of the final word, but ignored it and shrugged to himself, taking a drag. He adjusted his own position a little and crossed his arms carefully, his gun back in his jacket pocket.

"She's a medic. She's an important person, and takes it for granted," he started as he exhaled some dull grey smoke. "I need her, but she conveniently tries to leave when no one's watching." Gillian continued, frowning a little. "I'm sure you'd know what I mean, you're close to the girl." he picked at River, knowing that Troy had left him behind enough for him to surely feel something about her absence.

♦ River was skeptical of his reasoning. He slipped into the shadows, crossbow in hand as he climbed delicately from the rafters and placed his feet onto the floor of the warehouse. He moved out from behind the various debris and fallen beams to stand before Gillian now. He sat on the floor a few feet away from him, his back braced against a wooden support pillar, propping up his crossbow beside him.

"There are more medics in the world," River raised his eyebrows at the man, "There's more to it than that." He folded his arms over his chest, not taking his chilling gaze from him.
"You don't need her... you want her." His eyes narrowed as he finished his sentence with a harsh tone, "She leaves to take care of herself and expects other people know how to do the same. Which lucky for her I do." He smirked at his final phrase, tapping his fingers against his arm as he waited for Gillian's defense for keeping such a heavy watch on his sister.

► Clearly not in the mood, Gillian grew defensive and slung his arms out, turning to him as if challenging him. "Tell me where there are more of them then, boy," he snarled madly, moving a step closer to him. "I don't see any. Tell me, where are they?" he asked, his eyes wild with anger as the boy spoke, refusing to so much as acknowledge the boy's last couple of sentences. He strode quickly over and flung the crossbow away, grabbing his collar and pushing his hand hard towards the pillar and pressing.

"Well?" he growled challengingly, staring the boy in the eyes. His stare was solid, but stone cold, almost like he stared through River.
