It's another hour of walking, which you would mind, if you weren't so busy gawking at the ocean. The shore below is smooth and tempting, but you can never reach it, even with the curves and dips the cliffside makes.
Thimble is having a ball. She eagerly points out the flowers, and mounds near the water, and the different birds, who all seem greatly interested in you. Some of them are bigger than you, but none of them care to come close enough for a completely accurate measurement. You wonder how they stay aloft with such gangling, thin wings.
Scat stays close to you, but he only wants to look at the ocean. He actually startles you at one point by shouting, and when you look his way, you see something in the water cause a splash and disappear. Neither of you have any idea what it was, but minutes are wasted away eagerly discussing what it could have been. You become so engrossed in theories, in fact, that you hardly notice when Thimble says, "We're here!"
You bump into her on accident. While you step back, you stare at the trees. Huge, and vibrant, and a shade of brown you've never seen at home, they tower over you in a way that fills you with awe instead of intimidation. The ground ahead of you is coated in green stuff that are something like grass, and something like bushes, and something like leaves. The air feels oddly fresh, and clean - in fact, you can hardly smell the ocean from here, though you can hear it just fine.
"This must be it," Thimble says. She calls into the forest with a worldless yowl that makes you flinch.
"Where'd you learn that?" you ask, irritated at being startled.
"I was a house cat," she says. "That's how you get your humans to come out and feed you."
"But there aren't any hu- twolegs here."
"Should still work on cats."
A blue tabby pops up out of the undergrowth almost silently, and almost directly in front of you. She looks quite irritated.
"What do you want?" she asks gruffly. "You woke me up."
We're looking for a caravan.
Are you with Momma?
A cat named Mist sent us.
Sorry for waking you.
