Short Story of Why This Voxxie is Missing Fur and Limbs:
"Alohomora...come to me," the shadows called, pulling her ears and yanking at her sensitive tail.
"NO!" she yelled, thrashing in her sleep. She rolled off of her bed and hit the cold cave ground hard, startling herself awake as she stood shakily onto her three paws. Born without her front left leg, the Voxxie did her best not to fall over...and in most situations, she was very agile and didn't let the lack of one leg slow her down at all. However, the stump was misshapen, and while other Voxxies couldn't see, they would make fun of her if they brushed against it by accident.
Her breathing regulated, and she calmed herself down.
She crept past her sleeping parents and into the cold air. Mist hung low over the ground, and she could tell from behind her permanently-closed eyelids that the moon was bright - just the smallest amount of light filtered past her tightly-shut eyes. She crawled along the ground slowly, feeling the dirt underneath her paws, nearly frozen solid from the cold.
Without any warning or sound at all, a bear trap snapped shut around her back right leg. She yelled in pain, trying to free herself.
Her yelling awoke nearly the entire colony, who ventured out after her.
Five hours later, they had managed to get her out safely - but her leg was left behind.
Three years later, she'd learned to run and walk again, and could get along by herself quite well. She'd learned her lesson, too - whenever she ventured outside the cave, she always brought a friend along, just in case something weird happened once again.
One day, she was out hunting with her two friends, Benoni and Daffodil. They had just managed to find a ripe blueberry bush, perfect for picking and taking back to the colony, when the ground began to shake and rumble. Benoni froze, scenting the air. Daffodil screeched in terror, and raced back to the cave, Benoni close to her tail. Alohomora raced after them, but she had always been a bit slow for her size, and couldn't keep up. A massive grizzly bear swung its clawed paw at the small green voxxie, sending her flying through the air. When she landed, she realized she was pinned to the rocks - her tail was caught between two boulders that had shifted when she'd landed among them, and her ear had been punctured by a sharp root and was hurting horribly.
An hour later, Benoni and Daffodil returned with a group of voxxies to help the young one out of the predicament she'd gotten herself into. They managed to be able to save her...but her ear had been torn badly by the claws of the grizzly, and the hole in it never closed due to the largeness of it. Most of her tail grew back from where they had to yank her out from between the boulders, but part of the nerve endings never healed, and thus the hair never grew back in that portion of her tail, causing a permanent bald spot.
Even though she looks rather freakish and is awfully clumsy by nature, Alohomora loves life and lives her life to its fullest. She enjoys every day and looks forward to a new morning every night when she goes to sleep. After all, a life lived in regret isn't much of a life at all.
Well...this voxxie clearly got into something that it should not have. Perhaps it was those paint buckets I saw sitting by the trashcans...
Aw, and the poor thing looks pretty beaten-up. It's missing quite a bit of its body. I wonder what happened to it...
