Roll says... 6: Say nothing.
You elect to stay quiet, instead turning your attention to the patient. Your stomach goes cold at how faint his breath is.
Looking at him now, the reason becomes obvious. There's two gashes - one on his head, the other on his neck - that are bleeding so profusely the liquid coming out is almost black. All his other injuries are minor in comparison.
"Nice bit of work, eh?" the molly says, noticing your gaze. "Cor did that."
"Didn't," the lonesome tom mutters. "Fence got 'im."
"We ain't near barbs," the molly says in surprise. Her tone is conversational, like someone isn't dying in front of her.
"Are." The tom gestures sullenly. "Other side just got did."
"Ah." The molly nods sagely. "Lucky."
"Hm."
Scat suddenly stands up and moves around to the injured tom's head. Craning his neck down, he levels his mouth with the cat's ear, and though you can't hear him, his mouth starts moving. The tom draws a single ragged breath in response.
"Whatcha sayin'?" the molly says, eyes narrowed.
Scat looks up at her, blinks, and then resumes whispering.
"Whatcha sayin'?" she repeats angrily.
Leave him alone.
What's it matter?
He just does that.
Say nothing.
