like every year, phoenix dragged her cart through platform 9 3/4, into the thrilling wizarding world. it wasn't like she lacked it at home or anything, when every other week her father would bring home dragons, but it still gave her a rush. the hustle and bustle, the kids, parents and pets running about, the steam from the engine... she got the shivers whenever she thought about it all. being there was different, it gave her a warm feeling in her stomach. she liked that. brushing a hand through her hair, she looked down to the cat carrier in her hand while her bags were taken to be put in the train. the gryffindor grinned. "gonna be pretty exciting this year, don't ya think, mo?" she asked the kneazle. or... half kneazle. the creature meowed in response, and as if they were talking, phoenix nodded back. "i think so, too. well, let's go." she knew her pet was growing restless, after all, she'd been scratching at that cage for about a half an hour. mozelle was smart, it was the kneazle in her. she could figure out how to unlock the cage if she wanted, it was just a simple piece that flipped up to unlock it. but phoenix figured she got more satisfaction out of her owner giving in. phoenix stepped into the train, looking around. she preferred to mingle with her fellow gryffindors, she liked to avoid most slytherins, but she had no prejudice towards hufflepuffs or ravenclaws. she began to scan the corridors, cat cage locked in her arms, mo still scraping on the sides to be let out.

generally, when you were a muggleborn, your parents didn't go with you to the platform. augustus' family was no exception to this; however, they still accompanied him to the train station to say their goodbyes. it was hard sometimes, not seeing your son or brother all year... well, muggles didn't adjust as well. "off i go, i suppose." he said, hugging his sister merida for the last time. his sister was pregnant, and it took some effort for her to get out here, but she wanted to say goodbye - after all, this would probably be the last time he saw her before she had a baby to care about. he hoped they would send letters back when hermes came to them. pictures, too. they weren't like wizard pictures, they didn't move, but they were pictures nonetheless. he kept several in his bag. after his last hugs, he hurried through the barrier and was onto the platform. the hufflepuff boy cheerfully gazed at his other students, rushing towards the train so he could find a compartment. augustus didn't mind who he sat with, although he'd admit not everyone was always happy to see him. nevertheless, he'd try and find someone he recognized... he was hopeful for this year. something about it all gave him a fuzzy, eager feeling. but he was positive that it would be as great as any. he'd miss a lot in the muggle world, but he could catch up on school breaks. with hermes in hand, he jumped into the train, looking out the windows before he jogged to look for a compartment.

the gazes and gasps which one got when they were offspring of such a famous wizard was on the list of sirius potter's least favorite things. also on his list was leaving home. he never liked to leave his parents to go out into the world, it just didn't appeal to him. he preferred the quiet life of cooping himself in his room and reading. fun, innocent, and he was learning something. unfortunately for sirius, he had responsibilities. anyway, a part of him liked hogwarts. he liked getting up each day, doing something productive. it could be annoying when he just wanted his space, but most of the time he liked it. "is that harry potter?" a first year asked his mother as they passed by. sirius felt annoyance bubble inside him. not today. he told himself, shaking his head. not today. he'd ignore it for now. james and caroline said their goodbyes as they hugged their parents and left. sirius never liked this part, he didn't want to be seen hugging his parents in front of the others. but he also would feel guilty if he didn't at least say goodbye. "bye, mom," he said dully, hugging the woman who returned the gesture with a bear hug. and then he hugged his father, who said a quiet goodbye. sirius nodded, turning around as he watched his siblings run off into the train. well, his twin siblings. he hadn't a clue where lily luna (he always used both her middle and first names, or some nickname, which his sister tended to dislike) was. teddy had followed james and caroline.

it was true that teddy wasn't technically their brother, but they all considered him one. or at least... sirius did. he even called him his brother. teddy got some reputation for being a 'potter brat' too, just... an 'adopted' one. hell, he'd been around since they were all kids and since before lils was even born. and they knew how much harry valued remus and tonks, as well as their grandfather, james admired him. teddy was family, even in all his werewolf-y, metamorphagus...ness. yeah, that's a word. after one more glance around for his brothers or sisters, he stepped into the train. he could feel brenda moving around in the pockets of his robe, but he chose to ignore her for now. he wanted to find an empty compartment, where he wouldn't be harassed. and if not empty, he wanted to find one with his brothers, sisters or cousins. at least then nobody out of the family would dare make themselves comfortable. plus when they were all together, they got a discount on things from the trolley. hey, being a potter kid wasn't all bad, it had it's perks. he sighed softly, feeling around in his pocket opposite of brenda to make sure he had his glasses.

Scottie saw some one heading down the corridor towards the compartment that she was in. Once again, she slid open the glass door, and stuck her head out. She was pretty sure the boy coming closer was sirius potter, she only knew this because well...his dad was probably the most famous wizard who had ever lived. Still, she thought every one should be treated the same, no matter who their parents happened to be.
"Would you like to join us in our compartment?" She asked. Briefly wondering if he and teddy actually where brothers...or half brothers, what ever you wanted to call it.

A brief flash of gold as the yellow band faded from his hair. "Come on in and sit with us, Scarlett," he said once he recognized her. She was the smart one...the one who was always raising her hand. What was it she went by? Scottie?

Scarlett took a seat in the compartment, but quickly got up again to peek her head out of the compartment and wave somebody over. It's probably Sirius or Lily, Teddy thought.

she was a gryffindor. ginger hair, green eyes, her name was scottie. faces clicked quickly with sirius. he stopped in his tracks, blinking at the girl. "uh... what?" he mumbled in response, rubbing his shoulder awkwardly. he wasn't used to being asked such things. but he quickly noticed the other members of the compartment, and relaxed. "i guess so." he pushed open the door, looking down at his siblings. he closed the compartment again and sat down, making sure he didn't crush his ferret in the process.

"I guess." James replied, rolling his eyes when Caroline elbowed him. Turning to address Scarlet, he said, "I don't believe we've officially met. I'm James Potter, technically James Potter II. And the annoying lady beside me is my unfortunate twin, Caroline."
Grabbing his robes, he quickly left the compartment to change, coming back a minute later, narrowly missing Sirius. "Hey, bro." He said, taking his seat.

"Don't forget we still have to take the O.W.L.S." Caroline teased, elbowing James. "As stink brain said, I'm Caroline." She said, glancing over at Teddy. Caroline was a little glad when James left, but when she saw Scarlet stick her head out the sliding glass door. "Who is it?" She asked Scarlet, just as James came back in. "Oh there you are, Sirius!" Caroline said with a grin as her other brother entered.

Getting no response from the sleeping boy, she walked back by the Slytherins, taking a seat in an almost empty compartment, dragging her trunk in with her. Tamsin did not notice exactly who she was sitting with, until she turned over to make a comment about one of the more babyish first years. "Potter?" She asked, her voice filled with surprise and a hint of disgust. The feud between their families was over, but Tamsin still wasn't very fond of them, even if this one was in Slytherin.

"Hey, Sirius," Teddy said as his brother sat down in the compartment, a brief flash of white before his hair re-settled on brown. "Do you know where Lily is sitting this year?" She's probably with her Slytherin friends, he thought.

Not knowing what else to do, he struck up polite conversation. He turned to Scarlett. "What N.E.W.T.S. are you taking this year? Probably all of them, knowing your track record."

((Are N.E.W.T.S a thing we want to deal with? Or should we just have all sixth/seventh years take normal classes for the sake of simplicity?))

sirius was going to comment on the absence of james, until he arrived again, slipping past him. after everyone somewhat introduced themselves, he nodded. "and i'm sirius. you are scarlett, a ... sixth year gryffindor, right?" he said softly, pulling the squirming ferret out of his pocket so she could explore the cabin as she pleased. he was always a bit jealous of gryffindors. didn't help that his only brothers were both also gryffindors. besides teddy, they were all in different houses. it gave them space, but it left sirius feeling strange during lessons. caroline was with him sometimes, but usually not.

"hey james. teddy. caroline. lils was trailing behind mom and dad, but i don't think she wanted to follow us." the only one on good terms with slytherin to sirius' knowledge was lily. she usually hung around them. sirius crossed his arms, leaning back on his seat.
