Jess let out a low whine, looking from the wolf-dog to Gamble. "I know what you mean. I prefer not to fight, but I can defend myself..." She smiled back at him softly, but looked away quickly as their eye's met, casting her gaze out to sea. It was slightly hard to believe that earlier today she had almost been hit by a car. Jess was an easy forgiver, she also didn't have the largest attention span.

She turned as he spoke, looking to the humans. There wasn't many of them, but she knew they would have things with them. Dangerous things. She tilted her head back to Gamble, her eyes rolling as she did so, "Lets go then!" Her tail wagged slightly at the prospect of moving on, but it quickly stilled as he voiced his idea, "Isn't he a bit close to humans?" She asked him with a slight tremor. Gritting her teeth, Jess set off after him at a slow trot, I guess the situation could be worse...

She looked over her shoulder at the humans. They seemed closer now, and they looked as if they were speeding up. She sped up, her large paws making it easier for her to travel over the sand.

Gamble's eyes darted around, searching for a resolution. Or was it a solution? Either way, they were looking for something, "I'm starting to think this whole pier idea was a bad one. Maybe I should listen to you from now on." His eyes looked back at the humans running through the sand toward him, "Ah! They're coming! We're gonna die! Die I say!" He barked anxiously at the humans around him who were freaking out, "D'aww, they just love me."

He looked back at the humans again who had just stepped foot on the wooden planks. His eyes ran to the water, "Jump! I was taught this! Jump and the sea will catch you!" He ran towards the built-in benchs along the pier rim. Jumping up, he gracfully plunged for the water, flying through the air to be caught by the salty sea. As soon as he hit, he went under and for a second he could only see blank, but as he rose to the surface, paddling with his paws, he could once more breathe.

Taking in a fresh breathe of air was heavenly to him. It was like eating a biscuit after waiting two minutes in a sit for that biscuit. He looked up, unsure if the fae had jumped or not, but he was using all of his energy to keep his head above the waves as the sea rocked back and forth, carring him along. He could see tons of human head over the rail staring down at him which gave him a chill down his back.

Jess galloped down the planks behind him, her long ears flying behind her as they caught in the wind her speed was creating. "No, this was a good idea, but maybe we should have got rid of the humans before basically cornering ourselves." She slowed to a trot, suddenly catching the scent of something delicious. The food will have to wait! The voice in her mind screamed at her and she picked up pace again, flashing a look over her should at the humans. "Don't say things like that!" She let out a low whine, fighting the urge to curl in a ball and let the humans take her.

The humans now on the pier, Jess was getting more and more stressed, "Right. Jump. Wait, into the sea?" Her eyes widened as he took a running leap into the water. He really meant it... Now I'd look like a baby if I don't do it... Anyway, I like water! By now she could hear the pounding of boots against wood, and she knew her time was running out. Pushing past a skinny boy in a suit, she hopped onto the bench, peering over the side of the pier into the glistening water. She scrambled upwards, pulling herself up and over the rail.

And then he was pulling her back.

A man. And then her teeth were firmly stuck in his arm. Jess let out a warning growl as she pulled free, and the man stumbled back, screaming wildly. This time she didn't hesitate. She leapt forwards, plummeting into the water.

Finally, she had jumped. Gamble looked around, swimming under the wooded planks of the pier where the water met land again. After planting his feet firmly in the sand and shaking his fur out, he looked over the water for the fae, "I don't even know her name." He squinted his eyes, trying desperatly to make sure he didn't kill her.

He sighed, flopping back in the water. The currents were strong and if he didn't keep at a good pace he would be pulled out to sea. His paws were wildly working over time to get out there and keep from going to far out. He took in a breath and dipped his head under water, though he saw nothing but black. Where had she gone? His head came back out of water for another breath of air.

Jess pushed her head out from under the water, her eyes firmly closed. She could hear that the humans where still on the pier, but at least they hadn't jumped in yet. Jess slowly opened her eyes, wincing slightly as the salt began to irritate her. She paddled forwards slowly, wanting to get out of view of the humans. As she swam under the pier, she spotted Gamble in front of her. Smiling, she propelled herself more quickly through the last stretch of deep water, coming to a stop beside him.

She shook out her fur, sighing happily as she waded forwards, away from the currents. Jess looked back at him, "Any preferences on where to go now?" She asked him, looking longingly at the beach and then at the alleys beyond it. Never before had she wished to hide under crates or eat out a dumpster, but she just wanted to get out of the water. She looked sideways at him again, wondering whether he would like life as a stray. Not that he has any choice...

"I wonder what happened to that wolf-dog..?" She thought aloud, moving forwards through the water again, "Come on, I think its time to do some snooping." She continued forwards, but slowly so that Gamble could easily catch up.

Tia smiled at Blake, feeling considerably better than she had beforehand. Pulling her long legs toward her body, she tucked herself into a curled position, her brindle pelt barely showing it's lighter caramel streaks in the comfortable din of the cave. "Are you sure the tide won't come in?" She murmured softly, feeling foolish in her concern. Though the water was a safe distance away from them- she couldn't help but be agitated.

The Sloughi set her slim muzzle down on her paws, and gave a great sigh. At least the danger of the humans had passed; for now- at least.

Gamble smiled as she said they would be doing snooping, "Oh goody. I get to spy. Although I'll warn you, I'm not the best tool in the shed." He paused, "Oh, by the way my name is Gamble." His tail swayed softly, feeling proud after jumping out of reach. All the humans could be in awe over him now, "I did a water jumping competition during my days as a pet. It was a lot of fun, you know. The farthest I have gotten was three feet away from the dock."

His nose lifted in the air with pride, it's pale color drawing attention to his eyes, "Did you know I'm a pure-bred? Whatever that means anyway. Just some silly way of classifying us dogs, like it would matter." The young brute trotted after her after a moment of talking about random things which, if you thought about it, wouldn't do them any good as a stray. "First off, I know a place we can bunk up and claim forever. No one would ever want to sleep there, except for me of course."

Jess nodded at him with a smile, "I'm Jess," She bobbed her head and then turned to look in the direction they were moving. She tilted her head as he spoke of him being a pet, "Whats it like? Being a pet, I mean. Is it nice?"

She copied his pose and voice as she replied to his next words, "I'm a pure breed as well. An English Springer Spaniel in America. Weird, huh?" She lowered her head back to it's normal position, stopping as they reached the end of the pier. She looked out nervously, glancing around for any signs of humans, "Really? And where's that?" She asked him in a whisper, looking over her shoulder.

Flopping onto her stomach, she crawled forwards slowly, peering round to look for the dog they had seen earlier. In front of her, she watched the humans that had been chasing them tramp off the bridge, and she was pleased to see one of them holding his arm tightly. "Thats the one I bit! Thats right you stupid human, you can't beat me!" She let out a happy huff before shaking her head and fixing her gaze on the spot she had last seen the wolf-dog.

Izoku watched them leave, watching the humans as they followed the dogs to the pier. He smiled slightly when he saw them jump. The humans turned away, annoyed, angry, and one of them wounded. Maybe I should motivate them a little. He thought, giving a wolf smile.

He raced towards the humans and whirled between their legs, causing them to yelp with fear and shock. "WOLF!" They screamed. He laughed silently as they tried to escape him. He weaved away, jumping back in and out. "There's a wolf on the beach!" They screamed, fear thick in their voices. Another human ran to them, a bat in his hand. "Get away!" he screamed.

Izoku dodged back and forth, taunting the humans until they couldn't take it anymore. They turned and fled from the beach, leaving the bat behind. He laughed silently and sighed. He sat down, turning towards the ocean and watching the two dogs. Suddenly, he heard a snap and he whirled just in time to see the bat falling down.

It landed on his shoulder hard, the human stronger than he looked. Izoku let out a silent yelp and limped a few feet away. His shoulder ached like a thousands swords and he winced, snarling at the human. The human saw his scars and paused. "Your not entirely a wolf, are you? Just a stray dog." He said, his voice seething with confusion and a bit of fear.

Izoku snarled, but the human dropped the bat and held up his palms in a gesture of peace. "Easy. I didn't know." He said quietly, hunching down so that he sat on the sand. Izoku relaxed his snarl, buthis fur continued to bristle as he glared at the human. The human studied him, awed with fear. "You really look like a wolf, you know that...?" He whispered.

Izoku gave the human one last look, before turning to leave. "Wait!" The human cried, leaping at him. Because of his popped out shoulder, he failed to leap away and the two went tumbling to the ground. He bared his teeth and snapped at the human, scrabbling at him with his paws. The human grabbed his wounded shoulder and snapped his bone back into it's socket.

Pain flared through him and he lashed out, catching the human on the face. With that, he got up and ran, ignoring the dull aching pain in his shoulder. When he was good, he looked back, but the human was gone, leaving only a small smear of blood in the tan sand. He snorted and ran a bit more before stopping and sitting down.

He went through the events and pawed his face, confused and annoyed. Why did humans have to be so cruel, and so kind at the same time..? He thought, snarling silently.

Character's Name- Elena [Eh-Lee-Nah]
Age- 1 or so years, possibly 2, but young..
Short History- Elena was a home dog, adopted from a puppy mill that was closed down only a month later adoption. She was loving towards the smaller humans who poked her in the eyes and pulled her ears. She kept her patience well with everyone in the family, but her trouble was her curiosity and quick nature. Elena supposedly managed to dig under their wired fence, [which she had also before hand attempted to chew, claw, and fit through.] and actually managed to get out from the yard. Elena went missing for actually a long time, the parent wanted to deeply give up on finding the mutt but their kids protested and forced them to help. But Elena never aw home again. Her owners did give up on finding her, they were tired and just had no more effort. Elena lived out in the city for a while, she managed to keep her pace up with her inner self, and she lived off the garbage and roadkill she managed to find. Elena's Owners moved out of their house, and left the dog in the city to fend herself.
Breed- Australian Shepard, sightly a mix since her father was part Collie.
Personality- Elena is a dog who enjoys the simple pleasures in life. Though she sometimes drifts away from reality, she is very realistic her own way. Elena can act like a totally dummy, she is extremely curious about life and she is always in the mood to watch the earth an place around her. Naturally she was owned by humans, she was a family dog before her curiosity took her out of the yard. She can also get to be a sarcastic brat, who thinks she is the talk but that is rarely shown, she tries very hard to hold back her anger. [She is also noted to act very dramatic and easily goes on with an act she enjoys.]
Gender- Female
Appearance- Her back is a blanket of black, its speckled, or 'splattered', with brown spots around her rump like her face marking, and the black steeps down her tail. Her under belly [That stretches down the underside of her legs and tail] is a creme colored white, and it also goes up her face and around her head, giving the brown to take over the rest of her head. Her back paws are a dark dusty color, but you cant notice it when its a darker outside light.
