((Oh yeah... I completely forgot about the handcuffs xD))
Joke collected a few more leaves before heading back to the mill. He stopped next to Mortimer, putting the leaves on the ground, and kneeling down. "Want some help?" He asked, pointing to the spool of water. He picked it up, getting to his feet. He looked down at Mortimer, waiting for him to stand too.

Ezra sighed to himself and took a step towards Alex, kneeling down on the ground in front of her and taking one of her smaller hands in his. "Hey," he crooned gently. "It's fine. In fact, it's more than fine. We both get to have a grand adventure - we get to discover you again." Ezra gave her a small and kooky smile.
Mortimer nodded and got to his feet, still wheezing, and helped Joke carry the water-filled spool inside. He placed it on the floor by the Doberman, pausing to bend over and put his hands on his knees while he caught his breath. The Darkness kept swirling in front of his eyes. "Rocks?" Mortimer asked quietly, straightening up slowly. He took the pistol out of his pocket and dropped it on the ground, glad to be free of its weight.

"Yep. Picked up a few with the leaves." Joke said, picking up the leaves and putting them next to the spool. He dug through the pile, taking out 3 fist-sized rocks, and a few smaller sharp rocks.

{Lol, okay. See you later!}
Mortimer nodded, his eyes straying towards the wounded dog. Watching it's ragged breathing made him feel a pang of guilt, but Mortimer bent down and picked up the leaves and the wood from earlier. Holding them in his hands, he waited for the memory to come to him, back from when he was alive and knew how you were supposed to make a fire. Eventually he began setting the sticks of timber in a teepee-like formation, and sliding all the dried leaves and twigs inside the little wooden structure. Mortimer sat down on the ground and cleared all the dirt and debris away from their fire as he picked up two of the rocks, keeping the others close at hand. Mortimer marveled for a few moments at how real these rocks felt; just how physical. Being dead was a curious thing. Mortimer brought the two stones down by the tinder, close enough so that he hoped a spark would catch, and began striking them across each other. Nothing seemed to happen, other than a sharp scratching noise niggling at Mortimer's ears as he struck them again and again.

Alex smiled. "I don't think it's going to be the same me. I was just a simple girl. I was the happiest person you could ever meet." she thought about how she used to be. It had just taken one boy and one heartbreak to send her into this depression. It was how it had all started. "He promised to visit me whenever he could. He promised it wouldn't be like this."

Joke watched curiously as Mortimer attempted to get a fire going. He found it fascinating that you could make a fire with such a simple task as hitting two rocks together. He sat next to Mortimer, watching and waiting, letting his mind wander. He thought about his few happy memories; of how his parents used to read to him before he went to bed, and how they used to make sure he got enough cake on his birthday. He missed those memories the most, of when he had a family and there was nothing wrong.

As Mortimer kept on striking the rocks, he began to frown. He'd scratched the two for so long and so hard that the larger part of them were white with scratches, but nothing else at all seemed to be happening. So Mortimer hit them against each other harder, trying to make them as parellel as possible, like striking a match. All of a sudden, Mortimer saw a spark leap up. He froze, looking at the place it had been, and then began again, striking one, two, three, four, five times... another spark, this time bigger, and Mortimer was lucky enough that it fell onto the kindling. The smallest of smiles played at Mortimer's lips before they set back into blandness, and he blew at the little flame flickering amongst the dry brush. Within some minutes and a fair amount of fanning on Mortimer's part, a small fire was going. Now, how to boil the water?
