DawnClan
Riverstar yawned and stretched in the early morning. Tonight she would have to announce a deputy. It was tough for all her warriors were loyal and worthy, but she had to choose one that stood out above the rest. Squeezing out of the crack that formed her den, she leaped onto the rock and sat down, staring out over the stirring Clan.
Mossfur stood up and yawned. No other cats seemed to be awake yet, so the tom was alone. He crept out of the den, tip-toeing over a resting she cat's body and into the sun. He smiled as a gentle breeze wafted in his face and the grass beneath his paws danced. The warrior sat down in the joyous grass and took a breath.
Pepperfrost nodded to
Larkfall.
"That would be delightful Larkfall. Sometimes I hate being stuck in camp. Fresh air really does me good, and I'm sure my kits will be born healthier if I go for a gentle stroll." The queen smiled a smile that she never showed to other cats. Larkfall was a cat she trusted with her life. Finishing up the prey, she stood and stretched, ever so slightly shaking her fur to remove scraps of moss and feather.
SlateClan
Mudpuddle stood up and stretched. His brother
Hawkrunner was still asleep in the nest next to him. Jabbing his sleeping brethren in the rib to wake him, he laughed.
"Come on lazy bones! I want to go hunting with my bro!"Sparrowpaw gave the queen a court nod before leaving the den. As she padded over to the freshkill pile, she saw it was empty. She frowned.
Maybe I can go hunting on my own… Just for a bit. And with that, the SlateClan apprentice left camp without a trace and walked through the forest with her jaws parted. As the smell of squirrel danced on her tongue, she spotted the red furred mammal perched on a tree branch. Crouching, she sprang up the tree to catch it but it ran off. Sparrowpaw was much better at catching land animals. As she kept walking, the smell of redstart wafted into her nostrils. Following the smell, she found it pecking on the SlateClan side of the river. On the bank. She crouched and leaped through the air. The bird took off towards DawnClan territory, and without even thinking, the apprentice accidentally cross the river at the stepping stones and caught the redstart. The apprentice had broken 2 warrior code rules. 1) Don't trespass on another Clan's territory and 2) Don't take their prey.
But it wasn't their prey! She silently squealed a she stood alone on DawnClan territory, the limp bird hanging from her jaws…
Owlpaw woke with a start and nearly kicked
Quietpaw in the belly.
"Sorry." He whispered before turning to
Briarsong.
"Good morning, how are you?" The still drowsy apprentice asked his pregnant mentor.
