Blake ran his tongue over his lips, afraid of looking down, but equally afraid of losing his footing. "How much further?" He asked Tia, hoping to keep the tremor from his voice. He scanned the rock above and in line with him, searching for some kind of gap or space. Their only hope was reaching the cave, which seemed -just about- within their grasp. Letting out his breath -which he never even realised he was holding- in one short burst, he checked down, making sure to focus only on Jude and not the drop beneath her. Blake forced a relaxed, easy smile onto his face and encouraged Jude up. "It's okay." He murmered in his best reassuring voice.

Jess trotted quickly down the alley, keeping in the shadows. Although she was a happy-go-lucky dog, she wasn't stupid, and she knew the dangers that a stray faced - humans, other dogs - if she was seen, it could easily be her last day alive. Hearing voices, she hesitated behind a dumpster, one paw raised as she listened. Humans... She tilted her head, deciding to wait until they passed to continue. She glanced around the alley she had spent the day in, pleased she was finally leaving. Spending time in small spaces wasn't her favourite pastime, but she hadn't wanted to be seen. Jess jumped slightly as she heard footsteps and laughter as the humans crossed the entrance. Letting out a sigh, she moved forwards more slowly now, her short tail wagging slightly as she peered round the corner.

Jude flashed a smile at Blake, then looked over at Tia. "
"Yes.. are we almost there?" she asked, her voice slightly shaky. Her dark eyes went from her two friends, to the rocks, scanning them with confusion flaming in her eyes. I don't see anything yet... Judes brows furrowed as she looked back towards Blake and Tia, I wonder how far up we are.. she slowly moved her gaze towards the ocean, and then down from where they just were. Judes breath hitched and she quickly whipped her head back, her eyes wide and full of fear. "I hope we make it there soon..." she whispered.

--Tia, Blake, Jude, Baron and Archie are running from the humans on the beach, just about to climb into a shelter in the rock face. Katana is on the beach, while Killer and Sloan are talking :3

Tia lifted her tail slightly, peering upwards at the vaguely familiar indents and crevices in the dark rock. "We're here..." She felt weak with relief, giving a delighted whimper at the prospect of shelter from the humans. Lifting one paw, she placed it on the flat ledge that jutted out further than the rest. Pushing hard, she slid up, over and onto it. Crumpling in a heap on the flat surface, she squirmed around- reluctant to stand in case the movement jolted it- and gazed down at the faces of her friends, and the two dogs she was not aqquainted with yet.

"Careful, just push up from here."Tia nudged the ledge, shuffling carefully backwards so they would have room to climb up.

Blake stepped away, leaving Jude more room to climb up to where Tia was. He bowed his head, "After you." Blake smiled, ever the gentleman. He flicked his ears sightly, looking out over the beach from his perch. It was an amazing view, one which, in any other situation, he would find beautiful and happily spend hours watching it. Maybe another time, Blake decided, before switching his attention to Jude. "I'll be here if you need any help." He said softly, stepping slightly closer again, just to prove his point.

Jess lingered in the shadows until she was completely sure the coast was clear, then she stepped out quickly and trotted down the roadside, ready to cross when she saw a break in the traffic. Not long after, she saw her chance. A bus had pulled over to let off it's passengers, and the cars behind weren't attempting to overtake yet. Seizing the opportunity, Jess broke into a sprint, racing across the road. Then she heard the squeal of wheels speeding across the tarmac, and she looked up, shocked. A car. A fast car. Her muscles froze for a moment in fright and she tripped forwards, grazing her paws on the rough ground.

Judes skin turned a slight pink under her fluffy pelt, she cleared her throat slightly and nodded a thanks to Blake. Her ears twitched "Thank you.." she murmured, while she glanced at him slightly. Her tail wagged slightly as she padded past him and joined Tia, "Are you coming?" she asked, looking back at Blake.

Sometimes, life takes you away

Izoku sat on the pier, staring out at the ocean before him. Sitting there, his wolf like eyes to the horizon, he felt like a king. He sighed and he stood up. "Puppy!" A voice cried. Izoku whirled around, lips bared in a silent snarl. he froze when he saw a small human child, no more than 5, smiling at him.

The human child took a few steps towards him and buried her fingers in his fur. "So warm..." She whispered, eyes closed with content. Izoku's eyes softened and his tail wagged faintly. She only reached his shoulder and he curled his head over her shoulder. "Rain!" An older woman screamed. The girl jumped and the older woman dragged her daughter away, yelling and shouting at Izoku.

Izoku snarled and he jumped away from the, racing off the pier and onto the beach. He trotted down the water's edge and only slowed to a walk when the pier had become a small speck in the distance. He stopped and his tail hung low, his ears flat with sorrow. It's not fair.... He thought quietly.

Cheer up. You've lived your whole life as a stray. Don't start whining about it now. He told himself sternly, lifting his ears and looking ahead. It wasn't the human child that had stunned him, but by how affectionate she had been to him. He was by no means pretty, the scars criss-crossing his ankles and his back. Not to mention how much he looked like a wolf. That terrified humans.

He sighed again and banished the thoughts from his mind. It would do no good to dwell on such things. With his resolve firmer now, he continued to walk, staring at the ocean beside him as it quietly lapped at the sand.

Jess let out a terrified yelp as she galloped blindly across the remainder of the road, avoiding the car by mere inches. As the driver continued without a glance in her direction, the Springer padded away from the road, her tail tucked between her legs. In the distance she heard the sounds of a woman screaming something, but she didn't bother to look around. As she reached the beach, she flopped back onto her haunches in the shade, still shaking slightly after her ordeal. Curiously, she watched children - and adults - playing and laughing further down the beach and she raised one ear, tilting her head. I wish... I had someone to laugh and play with... Her gaze dropped and she sighed, now looking at the small graze on her front paw, My first battle wound! She smiled inwardly at herself, then leant forwards to lick at the tiny cut.
