You don't say anything to this. The two of you just sit quietly, each in your own world of thinking.
Finally, Charlie sighs. "At the very least, kiddo, if you insist on taking their advice, do me two favors."
"What kind of favor?" you say suspiciously.
"Take someone with you," she says. "I can't leave this place now, or I'd go, just to make sure you don't run into trouble. Have someone watching your back, just in case I'm right."
"I-" Your tail swishes as you think. "I've got some options there. What's the other favor?"
"Hang around here for a bit." She nods to the metal doors beyond the cluster of tables. "The kids'll be coming by soon and eating. They love giving us food. I know you don't like humans, but there's nowhere else to get food, and you're gunna need every bit you get if you're leaving soon."
You hadn't actually considered it, but you haven't eaten in quite a while. Your stomach grumbles right on cue. Still, it's twolegs. What if one tries to grab you?
Stay here to eat.
Look for food elsewhere.

You make a noise of complaint, but you sit down by her and wait. It'll take too long to get food from a trash can, especially if other cats will be fighting for it.
Ten minutes pass. You blink tiredly as Charlie speaks with Gidget about something.
Twenty minutes pass. You yawn. Charlie's come back, but you can't think of anything to say.
Thirty minutes. Maybe you can sneak in a nap?
Just as you think that, there's a high, shrill noise that makes you want to claw out your ears. Doors open everywhere and swarms of twolegs pour out, all yowling.
Charlie quietly sits under the table while you writhe, trying to hide somewhere behind her. The twolegs spot you quickly and start squealing. Several of them crowd around your table, babbling to each other. One or two crouch to meet your eyes, cooing at you with one of their horrid, long-toed paws stretching to touch you.
Your immediate instinct is to swipe at them, but Charlie saves you by bumping her head into their paw and purring. They pet her distractedly, still staring at you.
Hiss.
Growl.
Watch them.
