Meet your superiors, Young Ones.
Terra Caelum's government varies somewhat. The capitol of Natantis has a king, who rules all of Caelum, within the monarchy. The inheritance is not determined by the usual patriarchy, however, and instead has a matriarchy ruled system. Females are given superiority to males because of the male scarcity, and oldest daughters inherit property and the throne. This is true for all of Caelum, though in Altis there is no government, and in Copia there is Municipal government, meaning a mayor and a council. The monarchy still has to answer to the Council, however, with the Council being an all-powerful figure that has the right to do whatever they please. There are no records of how the Council came into existence.
The current king is King Fell Pallix Diodus Aradhel.

Our World, Young Ones
Cities:
Natantis: The Capitol
Natantis is a large and bustling city at the southern edge of Terra Caelum. It boasts largest population count of anywhere on the Sky Island (approx. fifteen hundred) and people can always be seen walking to and fro. At it's heart is the castle, Natantis Castro, where the king, staff, guards, inventors, and Royal Messengers reside. Natantis, however, has many rustic and unique homes dotting the hillsides that make up the city. It's layout is in tiers, sloping upwards from the floating island's edge and piers. Looming behind Natantis are the Caelum Mountains in the distance. However, to get there you must enter the vast King's Woods. The King's Woods is the strip of large, dark forest behind Natantis. They are the most popular hunting grounds, as anywhere else is too far or too crowded. The weather in Natantis tends to be cool. Their 'Summers' are only slightly warmer. Otherwise it tends to stick to about fifty to seventy degrees. Heating during colder times is important and animals for furs are popular. Common weather phenomenons are thick fog and light rains.
• East Side
East Side of Natantis is generally considered to be a Ritzy area. It is more rural than the other areas with no ports, but many gardens, temples, and stores. The paths are not paved and must be kept up continually from the constant flow of dogs, humans, horses, and larger. The largest houses are on this side of town, and this area is also the closest to the Castle, making it also popular for those who must report to the castle on a regular basis. It has a more rustic feel to it than other parts of Natantis and it's inns are a popular getaway spot for those who can afford it.
• West Side
West Natantis is nicer than South. It is a bustling Blue Collar are with a few small ports and rusty airships. Walking down the cobbled streets, it not surprising to hear peddlers advertising their ware or to see groups of children dashing underfoot. Livestock are more common here, for sale or to the butcher. The houses are nicer, roomier and more elaborate as well as in good condition. There are occasional manors set into West Sides steep slope, but not too many. The many winding paths of West could get one lost if they were not familiar with the area. There are several marketplaces to choose from as well as stores.
• South Side
South side is more known by it's name Skid Row. It is the most rundown and tightly packed area of Natantis and the furthest from Natantis Castro, with the castle only being a distant figure. Some of the main bridges to outlying Sky Islands and cities branch from South side, meaning it sees a lot of traffic. The streets are narrow packed at nearly all times, and people piled on one another. It is viewed as unsafe to travel there at night unless you are a resident and visitors are advised against going to local shops and taverns, as the risk of being stolen from is too great. Most who are in South Side are too poor to be elsewhere or are passing through on their way to somewhere else.
• North Side
This area contains the most advanced technology. It is the location of Natantis Castro, and therefore inventors, so it is hardly a surprise to see odd pieces of machinery and metal airships. The main castle is a tall figure overlooking Natantis, but the grounds include smaller residences, gardens, canals, and the main road to the woods. Livestock is not common in this area, but dragons and griffins are more so as a stable and some Tamers live here at the King's request.
Altis: The Forest City
Altis comes from a word meaning 'high'. This is because Altis is not on the ground - it's homes are built into the trees. It has the smallest population of any city on Terra Caelum because of it's isolation, it's inaccessibility, and the requirement of permission from the king to live there. The small two hundred or so population of Altis is primarily elven hunters, mixed with only a few humans, and no Fae or Dwarves. The main center of the city is located within a tree, and it is scarcely visited. Most residents keep to themselves. It is a very warm place. In the Spring and Autumn it is about eighty, and during the summers temperatures have been known to soar as high as one hundred and ten. The record is one day it reached one hundred and twenty degrees, and then stormed for three days.Winters low is mid sixties. It is often rainy or misty and clear days are rare.
• Swamplands
The swamplands is an area of the forest continually flooded. The natural rivers and springs have overflowed to create a perpetually wet environment through which water slowly moves at all times. There are a few somewhat dry patches, but most of it is deep warm water, the air like that of a rain forest humidity-wise. Coniferous trees have grown in this area and create a sort of pocket. Because of the ground, and the incredible height and circumference of the trees, houses here are built into the roots, and boats are the main method of travel. Many of the houses here have dragon roosts. Freshwater fish abound, though catfish are the most common catches.
• Mountain Cliffs
So named because it is at the base of Terra Caelum's mountains, it is also the heart of Altis. A carefully maintained bridge connects the cliffs around to the huge tree that is the main 'city' of Altis. Many smaller houses are nearby on the surrounding cliffs and in the smaller trees, making the Mountain Cliffs the most densely populated part of the sprawling Altis. Even then it is quiet and rare to come across another person. Altis's center hosts a few small shops using an honor system, as well as a small bed and breakfast for travelers or those looking to see the place. Flatlands on the land behind the main tree are moist, with natural tiers that make is perfect for rice paddies. Most of Terra Caelum's rice is from here.
Copia
Copia is referred to as a land of plenty. Located on the south side of Caelum it is a suburban area with a medium sized population of about eight hundred people. It's main sources of income are the rich fertile fields surrounding and dotting the windy hillsides of the land Copia covers. The actual city is large in comparison to Altis, but no more than a cluster of buildings when compared to Natantis. It's fair seasons make it prime to growing many crops and is the primary source of all food in Terra Caelum. It's many deep lakes host fish and freshwater, and it's fields supply grains, vegetables, fruits, cotton, and flax. Summers are warm to hot in the eighties, and gradually cools to about thirty and forty degrees in the winters. Regular rains come off the Southern part of the Caelum mountains, dousing and watering the land. There are occasional snowfalls in winter, normally light flurries, but also some heavier storms.
Copia is a wip

Explore The Powers That Were, Are, And Will Be
Styles of Terra Caelum
Styles in Terra Caelum vary by area and religion. In Natantis and Copia, where the Provano is the most prominent, clothing ranges widely (from leather to cloth to desert garb to parkas) but what is seen and most important is the color of the clothes, as it speaks leagues about your goals and who you are. For Nihilists, primarily in Altis, the style of clothing is more important than the color. Popular styles are leather and cloth, and pants are more popular than togas or dresses. Simple clothes are worn more often in these parts too, as those living in Altis tend to be hunters.
Technology of Terra Caelum
Technology on Terra Caelum is both incredibly advanced and comically outdated. The King has the most advanced technology, as the Inventors work within the castle wing assigned to them. With Terra Caelum being a floating city one of the most important and constantly worked on tech section is that of more efficient air ship travel. At current, most citizens own a wooden airship with a mast and some small engines that are docked in runs the ship sits in. Because magic for hundreds of years has been the method of holding up Terra Caelum, magic is also used to navigate airships around the island. Modern technology around the castle has many prototypes of ships that run solely on engines, the fuel still being magic, but a sort of charged 'battery', a stone filled with magic that could be inserted into the engine and refilled by a magic wielder of any race.
Other technology is still very archaic. Phones, computers, cars, and other electronics are unheard of. Factories are small, making goods by hand and magic depending on the supply and demand. Some of the small factories are for clothes, preserved foods, and tack. These usually consist of a warehouse of raw supplies, and the factory floor is long tables with chairs for employees to work.
Religion of Terra Caelum
There are a few religions in Terra Caelum.
The first and most prominent is Provano. Provano is a religion believing in different gods associated with different colors. In Provano each god has a name and color, and that wherever that color can be found what the god stands for is there too. Some of the gods and goddesses of Provano are:
○ Mundum, goddess of purity and cleanliness. Her color is represented by white.
○ Occultum, god of secrets and shadows. His color is represented by black.
○ Timor, goddess of fear and cowardice. Her color is represented by yellow.
○ Serena, the goddess of peace and security. Her color is represented by blue.
○ Ira, goddess of rage and rash actions. Her color is represented by red.
○ Dolus, god of deceit and jealousy. His color is represented by green.
○ Foveat, goddess of love and kindness. Her color is represented by pink.
○ Patientia, goddess of patience and empathy. Her color is represented by purple.
○ Neutra, god of neutrality and routine. His color is represented by gray.
○ Alacer, god of enthusiasm and diligence. His color is represented by orange.
Citizens who are Provanians will dress, paint, and decorate using the colors of the god or goddess they would like to be more like, as well as going to the temples to pray and leave flowers, food, or dyes of the color of their favored deity. For example, an impatient man who wanted to be more patient would avoid the color red with a passion, dress in purple as often as he could, and leave purple flowers at the temple when he went. The temples are not minded or owned by anyone, but rather are kept in good condition by citizens and contain only shrines for offerings to be left and books on the deities.
The next most common religion of Terra Caelum is nihilism. Nihilists on Caelum believe that the gods do not exist, and that their whole reality is a lie, that they are nothing more than a figment of imagination. Most don't care what Provanians think or do, but others will mock those who worship gods as fools who are not aware of the truth.
Lastly, there are those who take no religious side, and are more common than one would think. The don't think either side is right, but they don't think either side is wrong either, and continue their life, finding enjoyment in the now and what they choose to do.

Abra Cadabra, we said to the Young Ones.
Sky floats because the original Monarchs' curse made Sky rise. The powerful magic kept it afloat for almost a hundred years, and after that it began to wear thin. Elves have to use their magic to keep the island floating, because they have no way (being isolated) to bring it safely down. If they completely removed their magical influence that kept Terra Caelum floating it would gather so much velocity from its sheer mass (the mountains don't help) that it would completely wipe out all life on Perennis Aquae when it hit the sea.
Magic is not readily available to all species. Only Elves and Fae naturally have magic, as it is natural life energy converted into a physical result. Using magic uses energy. For the non-magic wielding races (on Caelum, Dwarves and Humans) there is available a variety of potions, drinks, herbs, and powders that can stimulate their minds to see how to use their energy as magic. It is often a frustrating and addicting venture though, as after the ingested material wears off they can no longer use their natural energies as magic. The potency and lasting effects depend on the materials used, but the scale for effectiveness is generally as follows:
In order from least effective to most effective:
Powder→Drink→Potion→Herb
Magic's limit is only that of the imagination. Before using magic (a mental endeavor) one wants to consider how much energy it will take to cause the desired effect. The easier they can think of it as, the less energy used. It will take as much energy as doing whatever task by hand, but for skilled magic users the result is often better done and even for inexperience magic users it is always faster. For example: an lace maker wants to use magic to make lace. If the only way s/he can think of making lace is the same way done by hand, they can make a lot of lace quickly, but will still be very tired out even though it took less time. It is especially effective to use magic for clothes, lace, and food making, as it allows a product to be made quickly. An outfit that would have taken six hours to make could be done in about one.

The Young Children Of Four Races
Species:
Fae = Current Limit of Two [Left: 0]
Other than the fact that they have wings, their looks are similar to humans. Fae can fly and are automatically Royal Messengers from birth. They only have to work when called by their King. Otherwise, they can do whatever they like. They are the only people with permits to go between Islands, and that can only happen twice a day - going and coming back. They can use their abilities and permits to send letters illegally for money (it will be transferred from the account of the sender to the account of the Fae) or as a favor. However, it is possible for them to be caught doing this and put to death or severely punished.
Elves = Current Limit of Four [Left: 4]
Elves tend to be, physically, tall and slim with tapered ears. Some are a little shorter or bulkier, but this is the average. Elves are smart and the best hunters of the island. They have superb reflexes and a keen sense when it come to animals. Elves, treasured for their hunting prowess, are given the option to live in the kings woods. They are allowed to hunt as they please as long as they turn in 20% of what they hunt. They also have a deep connection with animals, and can become dragon tamers if they go to a school made and run by elves. They can be sentenced to punishment if they choose to live in the kings woods and do not turn in the 20% asked of them.
Dwarves = Current Maximum of Four [Left: 4]
Dwarves on average are short and stocky with features similar to humans. Some keep long beards, while others are clean-shaven. The best and highly coveted engineers, dwarves are know for their knack for making the best and most long lasting items. They are also known for their extremely long life span. They are the only race given the privilege of being an engineer, and often they invent what is used in every day life. They are also skilled jewelers, smiths, and miners. Dwarves can be inventors, and to qualify, they have to invent at least one useful thing. Dwarves who are inventors may live in a wing of the palace set aside for their use.
Humans = Current Maximum of Four [Left: 4]
Humans are shorter than Elves but taller than Dwarves and Fae. Their features vary widely compared to the other races, so that there is no set average. Farmers, cashiers, and waiters are usually the normal jobs humans can get. They are, however, known for their high social skill. This makes them good entertainers, magistrates, and peddlers. They can go to school to learn dancing, singing, and music, along with story-telling, juggling, and acrobatics. With these skills, they can qualify as a court jester. They have to be qualified before hand to get into a school to become a magistrate.

And so the children flocked to animals, for animals were good.
The animals of Caelum are varied. For the most part they are normal creatures that could be found on earth. Deer, foxes, and bears are all hunted for pelts, meat, fat, and bones, and many more are kept as pets. Two species unique to Terra Caelum's floating biome are dragons and griffins, which are both hunted and kept as pets.
