Choices:
All: Fair enough.
"Fair enough, I guess." You jerk your head. "Come on."
Scat trots alongside you as you walk to meet with Pretty Boy, silently blessing every figure you can think of for making the distance between the two houses so short. When you arrive, you politely call out and announce yourself. Adder greets you and brings you around into the much more crowded back yard.
One cat is sitting on top of the remains of a bench, telling a story to the cats seated all around him. He's got a deep voice that's perfect for speaking, and an impressive flourish that he uses to make the kittens gasp with awe and delight when he gets to an important part of the tale. You linger for a moment to listen in, but Scat taps you nervously with his tail and keeps you moving.
Adder has you jump through the window and into the house, which is surprisingly lit. There are holes in the roof and windows in the walls that give off just enough light for a cat to see. You, being accustomed to the dark, can see perfectly anyway.
There's only three cats inside - a red-brown molly, that huge white tom, and Pretty Boy. They're sitting together, pawing at the dirt on the floor and murmuring to each other. Pretty Boy is the first one to look up.
"Hello again, Asterpaw," he says pleasantly. "I'm afraid I don't know your friend's name."
"Scat," says Scat, and ducks behind you.
"Hello again to you, Scat." Pretty Boy nods. "These are my friends, Roan-" his tail waves to the red-brown molly, who nods curtly "-and Laurel." He motions to the tom, who beams at you. "Along with Adder, they're the ones who traveled the longest with me. In fact, all of us come from the same area."
"A real mess of a place that was," Roan says dryly. She stands up and looks down at you, scrutinizing. "How did you lose that foot?"
It's not your business.
A car accident.
It fell off on its own.
I'm missing a foot?
