Forge is the largest island on the planet of Outcastia, many miles off from the Outcastian Mainland. The island is not under the kingdom of Outcastia's rule, nor is it involved in any way with the war that's taking place on its soil.
Forge is happy and peaceful, and focuses more on technology that it does magic, unlike the Outcastian Mainland. In fact, the animal inhabitants are natives. Most have less genetic mutations than the inhabitants of the Mainland do, but about a fourth of the population don magical abilities, but all share one common feature: a thing called Guardians.
Guardians are animal companions to their chosen animal inhabitant and act as a parent to said inhabitant, as most parents abandon their child. There are four types of Guardians, and they're the titles given to the inhabitant and determines the inhabitant's surname. These are Snakebite, Rabbitleap, Catclaw, and Ratscurry. Snakebites have snake Guardians, Rabbitleaps have bunnies or rabbits, Catclaws have small felines, and Ratscurrys have rodents. Ratscurrys are the most common, then Catclaws, Snakebites, and the rarest Rabbitleaps.
The inhabitants have a habit of dying their skin or fur bright, magnificent colors to symbolize something. More than ninety percent of the population have been dyed and the wear their colors with pride.
Their main religion is unnamed, but they call themselves the Dreaming. It consists in the belief of five deities, four of whom were the creators of the Guardians, Serpentes, Lepus, Felis, and Rattus. The fifth was the creator of Outcastia's planet itself, Somniatis, or Somni for short.
Many of the animal inhabitants work as merchants, airship flyers and builders, and machine-makers. They've taken a fancy to the style of steampunk and live in a society filled with it. Art has become popular as well, as the inhabitants adore bright colors.
As of now, you're just a normal inhabitant living your life on the island.
