Choices:
1: I've been looking
2: My mom did worse
3: I need your help
4: My mom did worse
5: Where have you been?
6: Where have you been?
7: My mom did worse
Roll says... 2: My mom did worse.
"Yeah?" you say casually. "Well, my mom did worse."
"Did she now?"
"She'd make me help get the fleas and ticks off of the elders." You shudder for effect. "You have to use mouse bile, because otherwise they won't get off themselves, and somehow I'd always get it in my mouth."
"Bile?" Charlie tilts her head.
"You've never experienced mouse bile!?" You gawk at her. "Oh, boy, you're lucky. It's the worst thing in the world! Tastes worse than anything, and the elders won't stop complaining about it, so you have to try to not get it in your mouth in between avoiding Dustnose."
"What's the matter with Dustnose?" Charlie starts walking, still looking at you.
You quickly trot to her side. "He went crazy as he got older. So you'll be getting a tick out and all of a sudden he whips his head around and tries to bite you, or starts screaming in your ear. Sometimes we have to have a warrior come in and hold him down because he goes into a fit."
"But he provided good service when he was young, so you keep him around," Charlie says softly.
You nod in affirmation.
"The more I hear about your home-town, kiddo, the more conflicted I get on whether to call you crazy or ask to go with you." Charlie shakes her head. "It'd be nice to know someone won't kill me just 'cuz I'm old."
"You'd have to change your name," you say. "Maybe Badgerclaw or something."
"Is a badger like bile or something?"
"Oh, and I've got a lot to learn."
"Cut me some slack." Charlie gives you another bop with her tail. "At least I know how to work a door. That's something."
"Fair enough."
The banter continues for a little while, until you're back in town. Charlie's pace slows to a stroll, her tail waving carelessly.
"Your friend Harley came and found me," she says. "He said you've been looking for me all day."
"Yeah, and I'm glad he did." Your tail swishes. "I've gotta find enough food to feed Jay and her friends for three days."
"Is that all?" Charlie says. "That's easy."
"Well, no, I can handle that myself," you say quickly. "That's not an issue. I figured you'd have some information that I desperately need, and I can't find it myself right now."
"Alright." Charlie pauses walking and regards you. "What do you need to know?"
Ask about Pretty Boy.
Ask about nomads.
