STORYTELLER
Helios is a storyteller, telling wild and outlandish tales to everyone
who crosses his path. Perhaps some of them are from his past, but
don't believe every word that comes out of his mouth as truth or a
lie. He often claims that they're "based on real stories", but not
without extravagant embellishments and added details that never
could have possibly happened... or could they have? Some say
that his best stories are entirely original but which ones those
are, he'll never say.MODEST
Helios, while a prolific storyteller, doesn't boast of his work and
he lets it speak for itself. If pressed for the topic, he often uses
a bit of misdirection and derails the focus of the topic from the
question, avoiding it entirely. Oftentimes, people don't even
notice that their question hasn't been addressed until it's too late.
The "outlandish" parts to his stories and behavior only reveal
themselves when he's telling the stories, otherwise you might only
hear of his renown from other Bumble Bee Bats, because he refuses
to boast.

You could say that part of his renown has gone to his head - the part
that makes him think he is the ultimate authority on all things lore
and past. He is very cemented in his understanding and learnings,
and even when things circulate that could disprove him, he is
quick to dismiss them, even if they are clearly more correct than
his previous understanding.x

You could probably say that his life
experience has lead him to be a worthy
teacher of Bumble Bee Bats, and you're
probably right. He mentors other BBBs
when they come to him with problems
that they themselves cannot handle and
provides them with advice. He is also
a teacher of history through storytelling
and a capable spiritual adviser, although
people don't often come to him for
spiritual teachings, as much as they do
for simple tales that can guide them along
the right path. Given enough time, he's
easily able to unravel the thought processes
of an individual and take a situation slowly,
preventing unnecessary stress or conflict.x

Helios is not very patient, nor is he one to
cut corners when talking to others. He's more
than willing to step on a few toes to make a
point, although he doesn't purposefully seek
out toes to step on. While he's not mean or
cruel, it often comes off this way when he's
talking to others, simply because he has no
time to waste on trivial matters. 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000STORY NUMBER ONE
xxxxxxxxxxxxI think that I am small in comparison to the skyscraper wax candles and the bonfire plumes of flame, casting flickering, twitching shadows on the walls that dance as though they were imbibed with the breath of life. I am one of those shadows, despite the fluorescent sun markings on my wings. I glance sideways at the walls and I think I see some austere and strange green light radiating from between the walls and floor, but whenever I look directly at it, it dissipates from view. How strange, I think, to imagine feeble light in such a dark place. I glide from the table and the floorboards creak beneath my paws as I shift my weight and groan with every hop. I am almost to the wall, when I notice that the floor around me glows when I don't directly look at it. xxxxxxxxxxxxAm I... imagining things? I still lose track of the light when I try to pinpoint a specific source, so I lay my head flush to the floorboards, peering in the gaps betweem them. I think I see a flicker of light dart back into the darkness before the light goes out with a whuff of air in my already-tousled hair. So was there something there? Did I imagine it all? I start to move back to the table, and I notice my paws illuminated, almost guided to the next room. They shone brighter with every bound, the floor melting away beneath my feet and I took off the ground, clambering up with shaky wingflaps and landing on the crown moulding of the room. Looking down, it all seems so significant, and then I see the fathomless depth of night through the wall-height window. The moon seems to vanish from the sky for a moment and returns, bloodied in the twilight.xxxxxxxxxxxxThe floor returns to me as I glide to the floor and bolt out of the house, hoping that the spirit of the floorboards isn't accompanying me into the night. I trot out, past the house, through the thicket and through the tree whorls that arch up through my hollow tree. Maybe, I think, it is all a bad dream, so I crawled up into my hollow and nestled snugly for sleep. Maybe tomorrow, things will be less strange.
Red at night, sailor's delight, yes?THE END

A short story; The sun was rising, which was always a good thing. Aelius flapped up to sit on a branch of the ancient oak from which he was going to watch the bright yellow orb. It was a habit which he'd done every morning, for as long as he could remember, and he wasn't planning on stopping now.
The night, lovely as it was, just wasn't enjoyable to Aelius. Maybe it was how cold it could get, or how the stars seemed so far away, like he could never reach them even if he flew for a million years, or maybe he didn't have any explanation at all. He didn't have the answer to that one. But, no matter what the reason was, he always felt relieved when at last the moon sank below the horizon and the sun took its place.
Last night's moon had been particularly scary. It had been red, not a bright red, but a dark, ominous one. The humans had called it a blood moon, which made things even worse. He hadn't slept at all last night.
Now, though, the sun was coming up, warming Aelius's fur. It seemed to say, 'Brand new day! Wake up, lots to do!' He smiled. There certainly was a lot to do, and he couldn't wait to go and do it. The bumble bee bat swooped off his perch and flew off, a miniature sun himself. Was the bat impersonating the sun, or the sun impersonating the bat?
Aelius didn't know the answer to that one, either. But that was okay.
