Eadlyn Singer is daughter of Thalia Singer, a former witch hunter, and Alexander Singer, the former lead vampire hunter. Being a daddy's girl, she had always aspired to get to where he was in life: the lead vampire hunter. Eadlyn grew up with her father in New York, after losing her mother to a home invasion gone wild in their France home. Along with aspiring to be her father's female counterpart, she strives for perfection, explaining her minor anorexia and her almost perfect grades in school. In 8th grade, her father married a young vampire slayer, whom only married Alexander for his position, so that she would be her new husband's successor if he had ever passed. This upset Eadlyn, who hated the woman for multiple reasons, and so Eadlyn set up a "freak accident" causing her step-mother, Stella, to fall into a pit. Three years after, her father fell ill, and both Eadlyn and her father knew that it was time to take her rightful place as the leader of the vampire slayers.
