I'm not that old... but does anyone remember that time period where everyone was obsessed with sunbacks? I swear everyone wanted one. I think it was in late 2012-mid 2013?
It used to be everyone's dream pet, they were like the Shima Longtails and Black Advents of today.

On that topic... does anyone remember back in the reeeaaally early days of CS when Spotted Tribals were all the rage? No seriously I swear everyone and their mom wanted one I was surprised to see that they had very little popularity by 2011!

My username's pretty much always been nickjr. I adopted my first pets under the name Sarah before I got them added to my account, but they're no longer under the name Sarah on my account because I did change my username a few times... to something like... "nickjr [HIATUS]" or "nickjr (inactive)" or something if I hadn't changed my username, my first pets would show up labeled "Sarah's Pet" when you clicked on them in my account hahaha...

I debated switching my username to SolarMist at one point because I started to really identify with it (? is that the right way to put it) in 2012ish, but I eventually decided against it. I've been nickjr for so long on here, and I do still identify very strongly with it... I dunno. I'm the type of person that welcomes external change but resists internal change lol and it's not too bad for me since I feel that "nickjr" is definitely still "me" :3

... I remember when Nick was thenickdude LOL remembered that randomly since people on other sites often call me "nick" for short if my username is "nickjr" and... yeah

I've gone from my old Howrse username, Cohlybrie (2008-2011), to Lord Amazilion (2011-2015), to ZEL.
Had a couple different ones in between, but usually only for a short time and usually as little jokes.
I changed from my first name when I realized that someone else was using the same name on different sites, iirc.
It just kinda bugged me, so when circumstances led me to kinda accidentally creating a new name, I seized the opportunity.
And now it's a character name, heh.

I think my original username was something along the lines of 'Golden Tigressa' or 'Tigers =)' or something equally as cringy. Stayed like that for at least the first full year I played because it was a nickname I was given by a friend from another game. From around 2012-2013 it ranged from . chemical . and tainted. to Chrysantha.

Finally I got to and stayed with Lyusani (or Lyu for short).
It was just a bunch of gibberish that happened to lay itself out in a nice way and I thought it sounded pretty when said aloud so it's been my username for practically everything since then. I shortened it to Lyu a few days ago because it was a lot handier to type out than 'Lyusani', both for me logging in and other users directing responses at me. P:

Question to all: If you had to restart entirely, would you?

I've done this WAY too many times, it hurts me to think about it. I've went on a bunch of breaks and quite often gave away my entire collection in case I never found interest again. I got rid of from OMGSC to OMGSR. I don't think I could ever do it again. It was a real pain getting to where I am now.

I had never planned to change it but then stuff happened and I ended up retiring that username forever.

I vaguely remember talking to you way back when that was your username. Feels like forever ago.

And mine was.... Tigerheart25. I'm so embarrassed by that now in hindsight but at the time I was "Tigerheart" on a bunch of sites and, upon finding that was taken here I decided to just slap a 25 on the end of it. I don't even know why a 25, honestly... but it lasted for a while before I eventually became Linsang! with an exclamation point which I later dropped. Made it sound like I was really, really excited about my name, haha.

OHMYGOSH. I'm actually from late 2009 so I'm not really an 'oldie' but does anyone else remember and are kicking themselves now because of it when we could literally adopt unlimited numbers of warrior cats but they were so common and everyone was getting tired of them and stuff and then a year later people were trading listies for them? UG now I'm not sure I even have one whole set and I used to just adopt bajillions of them when I was bored >.< Sometimes I hate my 2009-2011 CS self.

Then some people from PF (re)directed me to this website. Some of the pets from around when I joined still make me nostalgic. Neutral Dog, Pink Glitter Dog, the music note litter...

My first name was Shian, after a character I had. I changed my name to -Firestar- after my Star Wars Galaxies character. I felt closer to her and all my online buddies call me Firestar. But the search system won't work with that name, so I tried to change it back to Shian, but it was taken by a COPPA user. I waited over a year for them to read my message and I am very thankful they were so understanding and gave me my name back. If the search ever starts supporting characters though, I'd like to go back to -Firestar-.

Yeah, I'm very attached to dogs released in the month I joined too. I can name them all even from a picture of just the blanket stage. I think everyone has a special connection to the month they joined because it's new and exciting. Everything else is just extra.

More of a case of Nostalgia Goggles if you ask me.
There's no "good old days" where the entirety of CS didn't care about rarity or demand.
The difference is more likely caused by the fact that over the years, people have developed a more detailed system for value, and what's fair and what not is less blurry than it used to be.
