Seriously, he's very easy to beat if you know the trick. It's just that most villains don't.

Honestly, I don't really like Death the Kid. Only Blackstar keeps him from being my least liked character. Shockingly enough, my favorite character is Tsubaki, as she stands out as sound of both mind and body(thus still proving your statement wrong). That and she's my waifu from that series. Oh, duncun.
