i was never one to complain.
i grew up with my stomach almost always empty. it wasn't because my owner didn't feed us, it was just that they died only days before my siblings and i were born. my mother and father struggled to provide for us. we lived in a farmhouse in the middle of no where; no one knew we existed. if they did, they weren't going to be around anytime soon. my father often went out hunting for rabbits and wild birds but with little success. though he was young, a sickness was catching up to him, a sickness we couldn't cure ourselves. he got old from the inside out. soon he was laying down for days on end because he was too weak to carry himself. my mother had to leave us to look for food, and she had a little more luck on her side. but, when my siblings and i were around a year old, we heard a boom in the distance and my mother didn't return home that night. we turned to our father for help the next morning when we reluctantly accepted our mom wasn't coming back ever again, but he didn't wake up no matter what we did. being the eldest, i immediately had to take action in caring for my siblings. it was hard growing up so fast, yet i managed to do it. we taught ourselves to hunt and live off the land. but one by one, my siblings passed one way or another over the years. sickness, hunger, mistaken for another animal by a hunter, you name it, it probably happened to at least one of them. i moved on when i was the only one left, and i managed to stumble across a pack, which i now am apart of.
