"I need to find a nomad," you explain. "I figure she'll know where one is."

"Nomad?" The tortoiseshell straightens, staring at you. "Are you serious?"

"Well...yes?" you say slowly, giving her an equal look. "I figure one will know-"

"Where in the Sam Hill do you think you're gunna find one of those?" The tortoiseshell scoffs. "They've been gone for years. Where did you even hear about them?"

Before you can answer, she's turned back to the trash can and started to mess with the lid again.

"Are there no travelers in town?" you ask politely, choosing to ignore her rudeness.

"Travelers, sure." She hisses in irritation at the trash can. "Oh, for...you're quick, help me out here."

You have a feeling you're not going to get much more potential information unless you get the latch open. Then again, maybe she doesn't have much in the first place.

"I've got to find Charlie," you say. "Try the top."

She scowls at you as you walk off down the street. You smile when you hear a click and a satisfied "ha!".

Her comments about the nomads deflated you a little, but you figure it doesn't matter. As long as someone's traveled around a little, and as long as they're in town, you can work with that. You just need to find one first.

The next three hours, however, don't turn up anything. It seems like everyone's just gone to bed or hid themselves. In a final bid, you head towards the first place that you and Charlie stayed at, but she's not there either. You rest in the old alley, trying to stifle your growing frustration.

Where is everyone? It's usually not this barren in the day. Have you just been searching in the wrong places?

You sigh and lean back against the wall, staring out at nothing and considering your next move. This side of town isn't going to get you anywhere.
