Ancient Irish War Ponies are a very rare breed of horse found in Ireland. Their origin is really unknown but earliest signs show them being used during the 13th century. Even though the breed name suggests these horses were used in battle researches believe that Ancient Irish War Ponies were thought to be used for farming and traveling instead of war. Ancient Irish War Ponies are very similar in build to a Connemara Pony and many believe that they may have even descended from this horse breed. They are hardy build with a strong back and legs. They are horses built for stamina not speed. Visually what really sets them apart from the Connemara Pony is the long feathering that they have on their fetlock. They stand from about 12 hh- 14hh and come in any shade of color natural to horses.







For an Ancient Irish War Pony to be considered a full bred AIWP they must be bred in Ireland. This was an established rule for the breed made in the 1950s after AIWP breeders started to taint the breeding lines. Almost all pure AIWPs were extinct causing a panic to hit all AIWP lovers and in order to keep the breed alive breeding farms were set up in the breed's origin country. Their are multiple breeding farms scattered all around Ireland set up by the AIWP Association. Breeding's are limited in the AIWP breed in order to help keep a watch on the breed's growth rate. Although breeding takes place only in Ireland the ponies can be found all around the world and foals may be born in other countries. Help keep our AWIPs pure bred! Breed only in Ireland!

- Do not ask for customs. Artists will announce if they are doing customs
- Breeding can only be done here at AIPW.
- You can have as many AIWPs as you would like
- Each pony can only breed 10 times, 2 a month
- Ponies have one foal at a time and can only be bred naturally at the moment
- No matter the competition you will not win if your forum is incorrect
- Please know correct horse height before you apply for a AIPW
- No complaining or being rude
- Adopt pony will have small Irish flag on page
-If you are banned I have the right to take back ponies and re-home them

- must wait two weeks till foals are able to breed
- must have permission to breed horses that aren't yours
- foal coat color will be determined by a coat color calculator these aren't customs
- a horse can have only one foal per breeding
- whoever pms the forum gets the foal unless it is put UFA
- artists will have their own forum.
- if artist allows suggestions you are only aloud to suggest one marking type or eye color
