Meanwhile...
Woooah! Zeph exclaimed excitedly.
WoooOoOooAH! Zeph again exclaimed, now more nervous.
s-STeady now. S-s-steady! Zeph spoke carefully- Arms outstretched to balance himself.
Why was there a wire this high, above arbor harbor? It was connected to two of the tallest buildings?
And for some reason...
Zeph was walking across.
Almost...There...Just...A...Few...More...Steps. He stepped cautiously- the suspension looked fragile.
Zeph could feel a bead of sweat trail down his forehead.
Left Step...Right Step...Left Step...
Right Step...
Left Step...
Almost there.
Right Step...
Left Step...
CRASH! Zeph looked out into the foggy distance. There, just outside the city- something crashed into a tree.
Wait. Was that Feron-
Left Step...
WooooOOoAHH! Zeph wobbled, unbalanced.
WRONG STEP.
He felt his foot leave the safe presence of the wire- Slip, as if the wire hadn't even existed. He could feel gravity already acting on him.
AAAAGH!! Zeph screamed continuously as he plunged through the air- feeling the cold, brisk harbor air whip past his face- through his hair, between his fingers, into his eyes.
It's actually a fun feeling, Zeph decided.
It's strange what you think when you're plummeting to your death.
It was indeed a strange euphoria.
It seemed as if time itself had slowed down- just so he could experience his death even slower.
Zeph was able to look around, observing the entire city... Not that he did- he was more focused on stopping the inevitable.
Zeph, still screaming, couldn't think of any logical outcome to this.
Stele? No, he couldn't pull it out, or even write runes fast enough- even with time slowed.
But apparently that conclusion never came to him.
He reached into his pocket, as fast as he could.
Zeph pulled the stele out. He began to flick it through the air.
AAA! NO NO NO! He screamed as the Stele slipped through his fingers, flying behind him.
Zeph was nearing the ground now.
It was so close.
It's funny actually. Zeph didn't even feel scared, he actually felt like he was having fun- maybe it was something about the sensation of... flying? No.
Falling.
Well. This is it. Zeph thought.
He could hear people sharply gasp- and murmurs of people calling out to eachother. Not long of course, but it felt like it. It felt like it took way too long.
Goodbye. Zeph shut his eyes tight, preparing to explore the afterlife.
Without his screaming- he actually began to hear things. The wind surging past his ears, The sound of people pushing carts, People having hearty conversations with shopkeepers, shoes on the wet, hard, stone ground, and just people carrying on with there average lives- as if Zeph wasn't about to die.
But that's what will happen. They WILL just carry on. Everyone will carry on. After you DIE things will slow for a mere instance. No more you. Oh how sad. But they will carry on- everyone will. Zeph heard in his mind.
He took one final breath, clutching a hand onto his own sword... the last thing he has from his parents. He braced himself for the impact. He was so close now.
...
AGH! It hurt. It hurt a lot. Zeph's body- not just his body... Everything. Everything hurt. Even his mind.
It was a searing heat. It felt like his skin was burning, shifting. He felt far more than nauseous.
He tried opening his eyes, but there was strong light.
This was a horrible, intense, pain.
Suddenly Zeph heard a loud noise, that could only be described as the noise of a "Zoom".
He felt the strength of a hurricane wind, much stronger than the one he felt while falling.
Zeph opened his eyes. The daylight was blinding, but adjusted in seconds.
He looked around, observing where he was.
I-I'M ALIVE? I'M ALIVE!! Zeph exclaimed joyously.
People began shuffling around him,
-Are you okay, dearie?!
-uite a fall?!
-at was that?!
Zeph wasn't paying attention to what they had to say.
Zeph looked down- everything was fine.
His body was intact- though everything was askew and misplaced by the wind.
He noticed several bolts of electricity surge across his hands and cloak- but didn't think twice about it.
M-MY MAGIC?! MY MAGIC'S BACK!? YES!! YES!! Zeph shouted, excited to have himself restored.
All that adrenaline... it must have broken the curse?
Is that possible?!
He looked up at the tower, that lingered above him- and the line, that was merely a strand, that he had walked across. Mostly.
Zeph's mouth was agape, in awe.
He looked around, past the people. Shop stands seemed to be scattered, as well as various other incendiary objects.
Zeph went to take a step forwards- but as soon as he lifted his foot, he felt off balance.
Within a millisecond, Zeph was on the other side of the crowd- looking in... at where he just was?
Except that he was a good 10 feet from where he was just standing.
He heard people scream as he appeared next to them.
W-what?! Zeph was disoriented.
He lifted his foot again, to take another stride.
He surged forward as he continued to take a step.
The people around him seemed to slow down, all synchronized.
He looked up- even the birds had slowed.
Wait... he- he must of been moving incredibly fast.
As he took a step, various colors of electricity seemed to protrude from his skin- the faster he moved, the more colored electricity surrounded him. It seemed that people moved slower.
It felt like Zeph wasn't even in control of his movement.
It seems that when he initiated the "Speed", the momentum just seemed to carry him until it wore out.
He felt the wind rush past him, as the electricity began to wear off.
WoOOooAH! Zeph shouted, as he skidded to a stop, then toppling into a heap of hay- time returned to normal and the people all turned to look at where the loud crashing noise originated.
Woooah! Zeph shouted as he tried went to take another step- which surged him 20 feet away, into a damp alleyway.
He slammed against the forcefully hard wall.
W-whats happening?! Zeph shouted.
Zeph turned, and started to run, as quickly as he could, out of Arbor Harbor.
He weaved through a crowd of motionless, frozen, families- until he was outside Arbor harbor, where he saw yet another crowd gathered around a guy who as laying unconscious, next to a toppled tree.
Ferondir?! Zeph exclaimed, as he ran over to Ferondir- doing his best to control his speed.
Instead of stopping next to Ferondir, he slammed into the fallen tree next to Ferondir, which caused Zeph to disengage from his Speed- Flinging him into a tree a few feet away.
Ooow...
