Mm well; It could either be mostly rubbled as if it were destroyed. it could have exsessive amounts of foliage, but everything is still standing, or it could be like absolutely nothing has happened xD

Ah, I just published a current editing in process story so that my writing friends could read it and give me some feedback. x3
It's certainly an original piece and I can assure you, you've probably never read anything like it. xD
Though, you will have to forgive me for some slight hiccups, it has not been fully edited yet.

A Captain and her Ship.

It's a HumanxMachine romance. x3

You know, that concept isn't exactly new to me xD (Do you know Transformers...?).
Anyway - it's an interesting story. You already hinted at Sophie's past, so I kind of hope there's going to be more info on that later? I also really like the checkmate game scene. I don't know why, but I like characters playing checkmate xD
One thing though: "until she nearly smashed face first into it, I should say." this part here suggests that it is actually a first person narrator telling Sophie's story. But that would require someone beside Sophie and Vaulted to be there (or someone who's been told that story later on).
In some instances, you could have shown better how worried they are, instead of telling it, but that's a small side remark ^^ The story's got me interested, so you better not abandon it right in the middle! >:3

As if the people have all died off because of some unknown disease or illness that has spread through Earth?
The world ending includes all species dying out, no?

Maybe instead of first person, you could rephrase it to "until she nearly smashed face first into it, that is." Just a thought ^^

My main focus is on the human race. it culd be a disease, yes. that only touched the human species.
However in other situations such as war; Yes, everything would die.

Ah yes, I know Transformers, but to me that's almost something completely different. x3 Transformers are beings that were created, we can already see that they have emotions and morals. Optimus shows this by not wanting to hurt humans, he was compassion that machines and robots don't have naturally.

And you'll be glad to know that part has already been edited in the master copy. xD

The story was originally supposed to be a one shot ,I might take it on further, though. Just have to see if I get he inspiration for a second go at it. And the story actually goes on further to show just how much Sophie was worried, but I can't post that.

That's R-18.

I know quite a bit about mass extinctions - causes, immediate effects, long term effects, etc. If nothing survived but a few humans, they wouldn't survive very long. But yeah, I can help you out with that sort of thing. Like what might survive, what wouldn't, and other random changes. Or you could use disease. That's a bit easier, I think.

Yes yes, A disease would be much more esier to use. For it could be gene related, meaning people with a certan disease started it or my idea, was with a government operation, purposfully killing off the ones they did and leaving the ones that survived. They could have masked it to seem like a natural disease.

It's still machines... and I've read some veeery interesting stories. Just because someone I know pointed it out once *lol* I don't know why I read it... maybe it was a kind of horrifying fascination... but after that, I quite liked those stories xD
(and I just remembered an older movie... it was about an ugly short robot that could read a whole book in a few seconds and who re-build himself while he tried to save himself and a woman. I have ALWAYS thought they'd make a good pair if he only wasn't a robot  maybe it's not that strange that I liked such fics after all x3)

And you'll be glad to know that part has already been edited in the master copy. xD

Isn't it great to find one's mistakes on one's own? xD

The story was originally supposed to be a one shot ,I might take it on further, though. Just have to see if I get he inspiration for a second go at it.

Oh, I thought it wasn't complete because it didn't say so on ffnet. Oh well xD

Well... that's that. But there are other sites out there *lol* I read stuff like that on livejournal mostly. Great communities, I must say.
And you can always rewrite it to a lower label without actually cutting the important stuff. It doesn't have to be so explicit.
I know some authors who manage to do that so amazingly well... Sadly, they write only in German.

I think a genetic disease would be harder to work with - they're not contagious. It wouldn't even have to be an intentional government thing. It could be accidental release from a science lab and the people that survived just happened to have immunity. Actually, I don't like the idea of the disease being used to target specific people. It'd be pretty hard to do that, although if you like it, you could make it work. However, I think you'd still be left with a significant population. You could also have it as just a natural disease too, and again, those that survived just happened to have immunity.
