Now Xau was faced with a new dilemma: What on earth was she supposed to call herself? Her infiltrator programing dictated that she should give herself a human name, but in a world filled with robots, did human names even apply anymore? Statos sure wasn't a normal human name. In the end, she decided just to use her model number. It was easier than having to waste memory on a false name. "I'm Experimental Assassination unit XAU-23," she said, "But call me Xau, everyone does. Or did, anyway..."

The android drifted off for a moment, remembering the scientists who had created her. It seemed only a month or so ago they were uploading her AI into her body, but she knew it had been much longer. The scientists had been nice to her- talking to her, showing her bits of shows or movies they liked- some of them she'd even have called friends. The generals, on the other hand, were a different story. They weren't interested in her, only in what she could do. Which, as far as they were concerned, meant how well she could kill people, Which of course made no sense, which was how she wound up here. "So," she said, leaning up against the side of the building, "What's with the TV head? I've never seen any model like that before."

JEM
The cyborg, who had drifted away in his thoughts, followed behind a telebot as he purchased the batteries (Cue, he decided) and walked through the store exit. It was not a large paper fluttered to the ground by his feet did he snap out of his daze.
"Expedition to the... Lilydale ruins... A fourteen day journey and the world's apocalypse...?" The flyer, printed in bold black lettering, caused Jem to scan it with slightly widened eyes. Part of him felt that this "expedition" or whatever, would be futile. He had been around robots that wanted to save the world ever since he had been 'born'. What could one do in the last two weeks, when nothing could have been done for years? Looking up again, Jem glanced around the road, but whatever robot had left the flier had disappeared into the throng around him, leaving only a trail of fluttering papers in their wake. As he looked down again, Jem started walking towards the studio. Even if... he was actually contemplating this, he would be putting his trust in a robot he did not know. He did not even know where the expedition would begin. As he walked, Jem spared a glance at the sky, before turning his gaze ahead of him, the flier held firmly in his left hand and the bag in his right. In any case, it was hard to even imagine that the world's end was coming. The sky above was a clear blue, and the buzzes and chatter around him felt strangely lacking of urgency. But you know from the Lab this isn't a farce. Especially you, who should know that the most.
