Do you mean that your pup didn't grow? Pups grow at the exact time they were adopted, not rollover time, so if you adopted late your pups will grow late (like me)

I haven't been able to check all the growths, hints and confirmed pets for a week now because of work, so it was really exciting to check the hints chart and all the pets c:
I need to say, this one belongs so far to my favourites - I also loved that guy when he was in the puppy stage.
I think his pattern is really beautiful ^-^

The lineart was modified a bit on that one. The body is a bit longer, (or the background hind leg made shorter) and the muzzle longer and more pointed downwards, plus the more obvious ones the ears and tail.

I think I understand the exotic spice hint.
After searching exotic spice land, I came to a suggestion by google: 'yemen land of exotic spices'.
Yemen is the land of exotic spices.
You ask, what does this have to do with the above staff dog? I get to that.

Also, the Henna design/flower orginates in the Middle East. Where is Yemen? The Middle East.
What does the doggie's flowering look like? HENNA. Bam.

The animal he is based on is within the phylum Mollusca.

Well it could be an octopus, squid, cuttlefish, or cehpalopod.
Each have gills on their side.

Well if slow is the meaning that most relates to Seinn, then perhaps it's a member of the Gastropods? There are many pretty sea slug/snails that are blue and spotted.
