I have been diagnosed with Emotional Intensity Disorder, Depression, and ADHD, so my inbox is always open to people who need to talk.

I thoroughly enjoy horseback riding, writing, biology/chemistry/animal science. I also love to study and research law. I'm currently at school in Ohio studying Zoology, and am hoping to one day achieve a masters in primate studies!

I've done volunteer work in South Africa, most of it spent working with infant Chacma Baboons and Vervets, but did get a chance to work with big game animal like lions, elephants, rhinos, cheetahs and giraffes. If anyone is looking for resources, I'd love to help!

Lilliaste (Lilli): Age 16. Main human character of this training story. Lilli was diagnosed with emotional dis-regulation disorder and Depression at a young age. Both of her parents are soldiers fighting overseas. She lives with her grandparents who run a large (english riding) stable for boarding, lessons, rescue, and a selective summer camp. Lilli has been riding horses since she could walk. She doesn't have her own horse, even though her grandparents have offered many times. She has never felt that connection with a horse yet, but hopes to soon. Lilli shows competitively on the barn's horses, and she excels at cross country and show jumping, but has trouble with dressage, as she gets frustrated easily with the moves. A few years ago, Lilliaste convinced her grandparents to convert the extra barn that wasn't used to a rescue stable. One of Lilli's favorite things to do is train horses. Before lilli's mom went to fight, she was always training horses. Lilli loves a challenging horse, and has converted three unruly and unhealthy rescues to high placing eventing horses. She has always had a gift with horses, seeming to speak their language. When she grows up, Lilli wants to be a vet or an olympic/rolex rider. She cannot live without her Iphone or macbook

Emma (Lilliaste's mother): Grew up on her parents horse stable, she has also had a way with horses, much like Lilli's. She used to be a champion rider, but decided to join the army. She has been overseas for 7 years, only able to come back once every other year. She is very patient, but has no problems on the battlefield.

Daniel (Lilliaste's father): even as a little boy, Daniel had always known he had wanted to be in the army. He has been away for 8 years, and because he only has been able to come home 6 times, he likes to send Lilliaste lots of gifts and letters (which she keeps in a box) to try to make up for it, even if he knows it's not really the same as him being there.

Grandpaps: He runs the barn, and taught lilli how to ride. He may look old, but he has a ridiculous amount of energy!

Mommom: She runs the business side of the barn, and the house. She is always bossing Grandpaps around. She has a special bond with Lilliaste

Day 1

Lilliaste looked out of her bedroom window on the first day of summer vacation, thinking about her parents. Suddenly, the sound of a truck and trailer interrupted her train of thought. She slipped on her paddock boots (even though they didn't match her jean cutoffs and pink kami) and ran out to meet Jeffry, one of the stable hands. "Wanna open it?" he asked jokingly. "Do I?" she responded, super excited. She opened the trailer doors and was greeted with an angry flash of chestnut coat in shipping gear. Lilli grabbed for the lead line, and after a few tries, she was able to get it untied and was able to lead the horse out of the trailer. Than she noticed the bow and note tied to the shipping halter and quickly swiped them off of the horse. Before she read the note, she lead him to the round pen closest to the house. She set the note and bow down and moved to take care of the horse. Lilliaste removed the shipping gear and halter (with difficulty) and let the horse go. Finally, she was able to open the note. She noticed her father's handwriting right away:

Dear Lilli,
I was doing a camp raid, and we found this poor guy! I was able to convince my boss to let me ship him to you. I hope you can do each other some good! He looks like he had a rough time before we got to him. We got him to eat before we shipped him (which, by the way, was no easy feat). He was at least 20 pounds lighter when we found him! I miss you so much! Remember to write and send me some pictures of you working with this fiery mess!

Love,
Dad

When she read the letter, Lilli's eyes became tearful. She missed her dad so much. She was always worried about him. She ran the letter and bow up to her room. She pulled down a teal bin labeled DAD and put the letter and bow in gently with all the rest of his letters. She looked at her clock. 8:15! She had her morning group lesson with Brett in 45 minutes! She got dressed in a purple collared shirt, fawn breeches, and a pair of her tall black boots and ran to Beth's room. Beth must have already been at the barn, because her room was empty. Lilli ran out to the barn and up to Domino's stall (Her favorite horse that was a private horse that belonged to her family. He was a 17 hand thoroughbred). She grabbed his halter and lead line and ran out to the Gelding/stallion pasture. About 10 minutes later, she had Domino in cross ties ans was running to the tack room. She opened the door and found Andrew gathering Spirit's tack. He smiled when he saw Lilli. "Hey" he said nervously. Lilli smiled. "Aren't you glad we're finally out of school?" She asked him. He laughed. "Never been more relieved!" he said. They looked at the clock. "Crap!" they said in unison. Their lesson started in 20 minutes! Lilli grabbed domino's tack, her helmet, and her gloves and ran back to the horse. She quickly groomed him and tacked him up. Lilliaste strapped on her helmet, gloves, and headed to the outdoor arena. When she got there, she mounted up and waved to Bethany and Andrew. She ran domino through a good warm up before Brett walked in. When he did walk in, Brett first raised all of the jumps to a few feet. "Ready?" He asked the class. "Most definitely!" Beth said excitedly. While Brett explained the course, Lilli watched the new Mustang in his pen. He was running along the fence, almost seeming to judge the height of it. Suddenly, he ran back to the edge of the pen and stopped. Than he took of and jumped the fence. Without a word, Lilli rode domino over to the gate, grabbed a spare lead line, and chased her new mustang. She could hear her class yelling at her, but they didn't matter right now. The new horse ran for the cross country course. Lilli heeled Domino to a gallop, thankful for his Thoroughbred blood. Lilli and Domino chased the mustang all over the course, but eventually, she caught up and cornered him. She brought him back to the arena to an open mouthed Andrew, giddy Beth, and stern Brett. "Sorry about that" Lilli said to Brett. "It's fine, just don't do it again." He said. "He's a good jumper, despite his breed and height. You can be done for today. He told his class. Lilli brought the mustang to the empty stall next to Domino's. She took care of Domino and returned his tack to the tack room. She just spent the rest of the day with Beth at the lake at the edge of the property. "What are you going to name your new horse?" She asked Lilli. "I'm thinking Fire Baby. How's that?" Beth smiled at the name. "That's perfect. What about all of his scars?" She asked. Lilli had been wondering about those too. "He must have been abused, but they all seem healed, so it shouldn't be a problem. But he may have some trust issues. And he was able to jump that pen fence, and that's almost his height!" She told Beth. "Yeah, I wonder" Beth said quietly.

Re: I'll Burn You up (Training-Not to join!)

Postby LuciferMorningstar » Sat Aug 01, 2015 1:34 am

Lilli woke up the next morning and found a box downstairs labeled Lilliaste in her grandfather's handwriting. She opened the box and found all new tack. Her grandfather walked in. "That's for your new mustang. Brett told me about how high he jumped. I bet you could make that boy a good show jumper" Lilliaste smiled. "Oh, and your lesson was canceled today" he finished. "Thanks, Grandpa" Lilli said with a giant smile.

She took the box to the stall where she left Fire baby, surprised to see him calmly standing. She left the box outside his stall and went to feed him. She figured just a scoop of gran and a scoop of carrot pellets. Fire Baby ate the food hungrily. After he was done eating, Lilli slipped his new teal halter on and clipped the matching lead line to it. She tied him to his stall and began to groom him gently. He loved it! He leaned into it, and was super gentle. She had no problem tacking him up either.

Lilli took him to the outdoor arena and raised all the jumps to 3 feet. She surveyed her course. A cross rail, a double oxer, a fan a double of verticals and finished with another cross rail. Lilli warmed up, feeling out her new horse. Once she became accustomed to his stride, she realized that fire baby had a super smooth stride. She lined him up to the first jump. He took it with ease. She took him towards the next jump, but suddenly, a car backfired, and he bolted at a full gallop towards the arena fence. Lilli tried everything in her power to slow him down, but she couldn't. She was thrown up onto Fire's neck as he jumped the fence, and she barely stayed on. He galloped towards the woods. Eventually, Fire slowed to a smooth canter. Once he stopped, Lilli realized the horse hadn't even broken a sweat! She stroked his scar-covered neck, and gently asked him to walk. Instead of walking, Fire reared, throwing Lilli to the ground. She landed on her back and blacked out.

Lilliaste woke to the sound of Andrew's voice. "Lilli. Lilli!" He said while shaking her shoulder. She looked up at him and groaned. "Yeah?" She said, somewhat confused. "Are you ok?" He asked her. "I think so" Lilli said. She stood up, but when she put weight on her wrist and tried to move it, she cried out in pain. "What's wrong?" Andrew asked, extremely concerned. "My wrist. I think I sprained it." Without a word, Andrew lifted her onto Spirit. "You can ride. I'll lead him back" Andrew told her. "Thanks" Lilli responded weakly.

Once they got back to the stable, Andrew found Lilli's grandfather and her took her to the hospital. When Lilli woke up, she saw her mother in the chair next to her bed crying. Immediately, Lilli's eyes filled with tears of joy. "Mom?" she asked, as if her mom was just an illusion. Her mother smiled. "I'm here". Lilli realized that her mom's tears didn't seam to be tears of joy. "Why are you crying mom? Whats wrong?" Lilli's mother took a deep breath. "Lilli, your father died in a battle overseas". Lilli's mind went completely blank. Suudenly, all of the machines around her started beeping like crazy. Her mother's eyes opened wide. "Nurse" she yelled into the hallway. Than she turned to Lilli. "Lilli, please, oh, God, Lilli, please" she cried. Lilli tried to figure out what was going on, but all she could focus on was the fact that her dad was dead. She would never see him again. She never got to say goodbye. Her nose filled with the sent of antiseptic. She felt a needle in her arm, and she blacked out once again.

Lilli woke to the sound of her grandparents and her mother. Lilli's mother was the first to notice she was awake. "Mom, what happened?" Lilliaste asked weakly. Lilli's mother smiled sadly. "I told you about your father, and your EDD kicked in and you had a panic attack. You'll be fine. You can go home today as long as you keep the brace on your wrist and take it easy." Lilli nodded, glad she was ok, but sad that what had happened to her father wasn't a dream.

Lilli was discharged a few hours later, and she went to her room without a word. She pulled down her box that had all of her memories of her father, and she went through all of them, treating them like glass. Finally, she got to the bow and Letter he had just sent her with her new mustang. Suddenly, Lilli realized that she hadn't seen Fire yet. She looked out her window, and didn't see him. She ran to her grandfather. "Papa, where's Fire?" She asked hurriedly. He smiled. "Don't worry. We caught him, and let him run in the indoor arena with some jumps". When he said that, Lilli's jaw hit the ground. "Is someone there with him?" She asked her grandfather, not really anxious for anything to happen to the last gift from her father. "Andrew and Beth have volunteered to take turns watching him" Lilli's grandfather told her. Without a word, Lilli ran to the indoor arena.

When she got there, she saw a blur of chestnut running around the arena. Fire was at a full gallop, freaking out. Lilli forgot about the someone who was watching him. She grabbed a spare lead line, jumped into the arena and stood in the middle. She clicked her tongue and cracked the lead line in the dirt in front of fire to get him to slow down, but it had no effect. She tried other things too. She tried to get him to change directions, to circle, but Fire simply wouldn't listen. Lilli's eyes filled with tears. "I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY IF I DID SOMETHING! ITS NOT MY FAULT! I DIDN'T SEND HIM THERE! I DIDN'T CAUSE IT! I'M SORRY! I'm sorry." Lilli glared at Fire and turned her back on him. She heard his thundering hoves stop and thud towards her at the pace of a walk. Lilli felt Fire's breath on her neck. She smiled sadly. She turned and hesitantly rubbed his cheek. She heard someone clapping, and Fire ran again. She turned to whoever was clapping. "Great. Thanks a lot'' Lilli said sarcastically, before she realized it was her mother "oh, sorry mom. "It's fine. That was amazing. He trusts you, but he doesn't know it." Lilli smiled. "When do you have to go back?" she asked her mother. Emma smiled. "I wanted to surprise you, but now is as good a time as any. I'm staying here. I've retired from the military and I'm going to help run the stable" Emma said, smiling

Re: I'll Burn You up (Training-Not to join!)

Postby LuciferMorningstar » Wed Sep 09, 2015 3:09 am

Lilliaste woke up the next morning to a thunderstorm. She tried to go back to sleep, but she couldn't. She got dressed in breeches, paddock boots, and a Twenty One Pilots tour shirt. She gently touched the picture of her dad by her bed and headed out to the arena where Fire was.

She grabbed a lead line and began to lead him to the rescue barn. They were almost there when Fire Baby bolted at a crash of thunder. He reared, going vertical. Lilli grappled for control, but she couldn't get him to calm down. She held strong to the lead line with her one hand, not letting him go. Fire now stood on all fours, but was still skittish. She moved him quickly to an empty stall. His ears were back, and his eyes kept rolling. Lilli reached out to stroke his nose, but Fire yanked his head back and crab stepped. She sighed and got his feed. The moment she left, he began kicking at the stall door. Than she had an idea.

Five minutes later, Lilli had Fire on a lunge line in the indoor arena and a lunge whip in her injured hand. Lilli let Fire out to the wall. Suddenly, there was another crack of thunder and a strike of lightning. He bolted, but Lilli struck the ground in front of him with the whip. He stopped and tried to run the other way. Again, Lilli struck the ground in front of him with the whip. They went through this a few times before he calmed down. After a few silent minutes of rain, there was another clap of thunder. Fire tried to bolt, but Lilli used the whip on the ground again. This time he didn't try the other direction. He stood still.

After about 20 minutes in the arena with Fire, Lilli decided to take Fire back to his new stall. He went in with little to no fuss. This time, when she went to stroke his nose, Lilli was met with a warm nicker. She smiled, knowing she had gained more trust. "I'll be back later!" She promised him as she walked to the main barn. When she got there, it was already abuzz with riders and instructors. Lilly's grandfather found her by Domino's stall. "Lilliaste, I know you're tired, but Brett is sick and won't be here for a few days. Could you take over his lessons and camp responsibilities?" He asked her. "No problem!" She said through a fake smile. She didn't mind the lessons, but helping with the campers!? That was the worst! Last year, one of the girls who had never ridden before had tried to give HER riding tips! As if! It was hard for Lilli to see other people living near her house. Today was the first day of the 2 month camp for relatively new or inexperienced riders over the age of 14. Her grandfather smiled. "Thank you for all of your help"

Lilli stood in the parking lot, suddenly realizing that Brett pretty much ran every aspect of camp to do with horses! She would have to do the assessments and assign horses! The bus of camper pulled in, and 7 boys and 7 girls all piled out and pulled their bags out. Lilli put on a bright smile, realizing she still had on her 21 pilots shirt. "Hey guys! I'm Lilli. Brett is sick, so I'm filling in for a few days! Cabins are this way!" She showed them the cabins and made sure they knew which ones were which. Once the campers were all settled, she gave them the tour. She showed them the main barn, all three arenas, the X-country course, pens, pastures, and rescue barn. One of the girls saw Fire in the back stall and ran up to pet him. He spooked, throwing his head up and kicking the walls. Lilli rushed into the stall. She put her hands up in the air, and clapped loudly. Immediately, Fire calmed. Lilli stroked his nose, and went to explain to the campers.

They were all looking at Lilli like she was an alien. She decided to ignore it. "Sorry guys! He was just rescued from a war zone overseas. Right now I'm working with him, but for now I think he should he off limits unless you get specific orders from me, O.K?" She told them. They all nodded, even the girl who had spooked him. Lilli recognized her from last year as the girl who had tried to correct her riding! Lilli finished the tour and lead them back to the cabins. "Alright, get changed into riding clothes and meet me right here in 10 minutes! Don't forget you helmet" she said. Exactly 10 minutes later, all 14 campers were outside with her. She noticed they all had expensive riding clothing on. That meant she had to step up her game tomorrow.

When she got the barn, Lilli led the campers to 3
Horses all in stalls next to each other. "This is Pandora, Audi, and Maximillion. They are 3 of our camp horses. You will all be responsible for your own horse, but first I'm going to test your riding ability on these three. If this is your first year here, can you line up at Audi's stall?" 6 kids shifted to Audi. "Second year to Pandora" 6 kids to Pandora. "And third year to Maximillion" 2 kids to Max. One was the girl who spooked Fire, and the other was a Boy about 17, and pretty cute.

Lilli showed all the new campers how to groom and tack. She led the three horses in her one good hand and a helmet in the other. She tied Max and Pandora to the fence of the outdoors arena, dropped one
Of her practice helmets on the ground, and signaled for the camper who weren't testing right away to sit on the grass. She tested Audi's riders first and took notes under each of their names. All had little to no rising skills. Lilli would assign them horses that hand them off. They would go with Robin, one of the Beginner instructors. Next, she called over the 2nd years. Two of them would go with the beginners, but the other four Would go with Jenna, one of the intermediate instructors. Next she tested the 3rd years, who she would teach herself until Brett came back. The girl, who's name is Rebecca, was ok. Not bad enough to go with the 2nd years, but she was nowhere close to Matt's skill level!

After Lilliaste tested all the riders, she sent them back to the cabins for some "Me Time" while she got the horses together. First she made sure the 14 camp horse stalls were empty. Thankfully, they were already set up and ready for horses. Lilli grabbed a piece of chalk and began to write the horse and rider names on the chalkboard nameplates. She got to the last 2 names: Matt and Rebecca. She still hadn't decided on horses for them yet. Matt needed an eventing horse, and Rebecca needed an solid horse who wouldn't spook. Lilli decided on Apache for Rebecca. He used to be a trail pony, but now he can jump a foot and is a pretty good school horse. But what about Matt? None of the school horses are venters like him. The she thought of Spartan. He was perfect! An eventing horse, but still has fire. She wrote the final names down and went to collect all the horses. After about 30 minutes, Lilli had all the horses in their stalls. Now, all Lilli had to worry about was Fire and her two campers.

Rebecca and Matt walked into the barn sporting (again) nice riding gear. She introduced the riders to thief horses and asked them to tack up. Lilli went to tack Domino. It was easier for her to coach from horseback. With one hand, it was quite a task, but she got it done. She clipped her helmet to her rolled up stirrups and walked Domino over to her two riders. She guided them to the outdoor arena. She threw Domino's reins over his head and knew he was trained to stand on his own. "Before every lesson, either Brett or I will be doing a tack inspection. Lilli barley spent any time at Matt. He had everything perfect down to the saddlecloth and polo wrap colors! Than she moved into Rebecca. Lilli only needed a few Seconds before she started commenting. "Your stirrups need to be rolled up, an your helmet clipped to your stirrups. Chinstrap is too loose. He need more brushing on his chest and neck." Lilli paused. She noticed one more thing. The saddle pad and polo wraps didn't match! "Your saddle pad and polo wraps don't match." Lilli said, ending her speech. "Really! I doubt that my saddle pad and wraps are the biggest issue" Rebecca said in a snarky tone to Lilli. "Look around" Lilli said. There wasn't a single horse being risen in sight with mix matching pads and wraps. Without another remark, Lilli clapped her hands. "Mount up!" Lilli mounted and remembered something. She pulled out a pair of jumping boots from her pocket. "Matt" she called. She tossed them to him and he caught them and strapped them on super quick.

Lilli ran the two rider's through a quick warm up and explained the jump course they would take. "So, it's the 1 foot cross rail, the vertical over, and the double combo." Lilli quickly moved through the lesson with the two campers. After they had finished, Lilli decided to dedicate the rest of the day to finding Fire a friend.

Lilli moved Fire to Main pasture 1 first. This pasture held all of the school/camp horses. She let him loose, and he shot like a bottle rocket to run. As soon as Fire saw Audi, he reared and whinnied a challenge. Audi was the leader of the "Herd" in pasture 1. Audi moved closer to Fire cautiously, however, when Audi got close enough, Fire whirled around and delivered a swift kick to his ribs. Audi snorted in rage, and Lilli screamed. She ran over as quick as she could. She quickly lead Fire back to his pen, and let him run. She than checked Audi for any signs of injury, but he seemed to be fine

Re: I'll Burn You up (Training-Not to join!)

When Lilli woke up the next day, she quickly moved to get all of her chores done. She fed Domino and a few other family horses, swept the isles, and organized the tack room in record time. By 8:00 am, she was ready to work with fire. She saw Brett walking towards the cabins. She waved and he responded with a thanks for helping with the campers yesterday. Lilli had remembered to dress nicer today. She had on spotless fawn breeches, a crisp white button down, and tall brown boots. She had grabbed her nicest practice helmet.

Lilli walked over to Fire's stall and hooked a lead line to his halter. She was really surprised at how good he was behaving. She couldn't wait to ride him for real some day! She thought back to when she was able to get on him and jump him a few times. He didn't seen to shy at the saddle, but he spooked easily at loud sounds like thunder and cars. She grabbed the lunge line and lunge whip and took him to the outdoor arena. She only had about half an hour before Brett brought the first class of campers out. Lilli set up a few cavaletti jumps so she could watch his form without getting the lunge line stuck on the jump standards. The jumps were about two feet high. She knew that was pretty high for a horse in training, but Fire could jump a five foot fence no problem (Lilli still wasn't sure how!) so she wasn't to worried. Lilli worked through his gates for about ten minutes to get them smooth, and than she moved him over to the jumps. She let the line a little longer so he could look at the jumps. Lilliaste gave Fire a few minutes, and than she lined him up with the first jump, a foot high cross rail. First she had him take it at a trot, and than again at a canter. Once he had taken the jumps a few times, Lilli moved Fire to the next jump. This one was a 1.5 foot vertical. Again, Fire took it no problem. Lilli moved him to the two foot vertical, and again, no problem. Next, she moved him through all three jumps right in a row. Suddenly people started to clap and whoop. Fire bolted, causing the lunge line to get yanked out of her hands and drag on the ground.

Lilli chased after the lunge line. She finally got hold of it, grateful it hadn't gotten tangled around Fire's legs. She whirled around to face whoever spooked him. She found half of the campers. The one annoying girl included, but thankfully, Eric wasn't there. "Do you have any idea what could have happened if he had tripped!" she screamed at them. She knew it was her EDD acting up, but she didn't care. Fire could have been seriously hurt. She stared directly at the girl who had spooked him before. "You. Do you have ANY idea what you're doing?! This is the second time you've scared him! Every time you do that, I loose precious progress with him! If I catch you ANY of you near him, you'll be home faster than you can even imagine!" She finished. Fire snorted, and Lilli turned her attention back to him. She checked his legs for any signs of heat, but thankfully, his legs felt fine, although his eyes were wide, and his head high. She took him back to his pen and let him run.

Lilli woke up the next morning, still frustrated with what happened yesterday. Lilli got dressed nice again, and walked downstairs. She walked by Beth's room. Her door was ajar and her room empty. She must already be working working Striker. Lilli walked down to the kitchen and right into a stern-faced Brett. Sitting with him was her grandfather and her mother. All three looked angry. "What's up, guys?" she asked carefully. Brett spoke first. "I think you know" he said, his voice full of irritation and anger. And Lilli did know. This was about what she had said to the campers yesterday. Suddenly, her face hardened. "Wow. So I'm in trouble. Not the kids who could have caused my new horse, The last gift from my DEAD father, to break his legs or even die?! Wow! I really though you guys were smarter than this. Apparently you aren't! They all saw what happened when he was spooked before. They know he spooks easily at loud noises, and yet they still did what they did. I told them to stay away from Fire. If I catch any one of them near him again besides Eric, I won't hesitate to do what I did before" And with that, Lilli finished her rant. She wasn't sorry for what she said. Why should she be?

Lilli went to check on Fire. She rubbed his nose, but she needed to go for a ride. She threw off her wrist brace and went to tack up Domino. She rode Domino out to the cross country course and passed Beth in the outdoor ring with Striker. Beth tried to wave and go with her, but as soon as Lilli realized this, she heeled Domino into a full out gallop, knowing there was no way Striker and Beth could catch up. She slowed Domino to a canter after a minute or two, and than a trot. She let Domino walk for a few minutes. Than she circled him to the start of the cross country course. She pushed him as fast as she could over the logs, the brush, the creek. She ignored the searing pain in her wrist.

When Domino finished the course, Lilli knew that was reckless riding, but she also knew it was her fastest time around the course. Lilli leaned down to hug Domino's neck. He nickered quietly. Lilli made sure he was ok before taking him back to the stable. Everyone stared when she got back. Lilli knew she looked like heck. Her hair was messy under her helmet, her face blotchy from crying, and her wrist was swollen and a nasty shade of purpleish yellow. Lilli ignored them and put on a straight face. No way the campers needed to know she was crying.

At dinner that night, Lilli refused to speak unless she had to. Beth tried to comfort her, but Lilli didn't want it. When she was about to turn her lamp off, Lilli's door opened. Her mother and grandfather walked in. "Lilli, where did you go today?" Her grandfather asked her sternly. Lilli smirked. "As if you even care" Lilli responded, her voice empty of emotion.

Re: I'll Burn You up (Training-Not to join!)

The next few days continued in style. Lilli spoke to no one, and worked with Fire and Domino. There was a sign up sheet posted on the tack room door for a local show. It was open to both campers and boarders at Woodlawn. Lilli grinned wickedly when she saw Rebecca had signed up for a jumping and cross country class. The classes were low level compared to what she usually did, but she was gonna take that blue ribbon from Rebecca. She scribbled her name along with Domino's under the class name, and also entered herself and Domino in one of her regular jumping level cross country courses.

Lilli spent more and more time with Fire as the days went on. She had made some good progress with him. He could he tacked without a problem, and he was getting better with loud noised. Her technique now was to blast loud music while he was on a lunge line. Every time he tried to bold, Lilli used the lunge whip on the ground in front of him.

When Lilli worked with Fire today, she used her technique, and he gave no reaction. He stood still and blinked at her, his ears turning toward the music every once and a while. Lilli turned off the music and ran over to him, he arm out to give him a hug, testing of he would bolt at this. His ears went back for a second, but than he went back to normal. Lilli walked the rest of the distance and gave him a huge hug. She heard people clapping lightly. Fire, again, had no response, but she was still angry at every person at the whole stable. She clipped a lead line to Fires halter and lead him to his stall. She saw it was her Grandfather, Brett, her Mother, and most of the campers who had been clapping. She glared at all of them, her wrist still throbbing. She refused to do anything for it, and she knew it was getting worse, but she didn't care. She could still ride and that was good enough for her.

Lilli woke up the day before the show ready to work. She spent an three hours working with Fire. In this time, she was able to saddle him without a problem, and he didn't spook at movement or loud noises. Lilli didn't try to ride him yet. She would save that for it's own day. After she finished with Fire, she got to work with Domino.

She didn't work him to hard, just some low jumps and worked him through his paces. Lilli took Domino to his stall and put all his things by the cross ties in the main isle. She clipped him in, refusing to jet anyone go by her, so they had to go around the outside isles, which Lilli knew were muddy from the recent rain.

Lilli began her pre-show ritual of grooming. First she braided Domino's mane and tail. She wrapped his tail so it wouldn't become messy, and she prayed he wouldn't run against the walls of his stall and undo his mane braids. Next she gave him a bath, totally cleaning him. She let him dry and than got work on is coat. She used a rubber curry comb to get out all the rest of the dirt or dust that may have been left after his bath. She skipped a hard dandy brush, Domino didn't need it. Than she used a soft dandy brush to flick of any remaining hairs. She picked his hooves and smoothed on hoof polish. Once that dried, she threw on a super light blanket to keep his coat clean overnight.

After Lilli had put Domino back in his stall, she passed Rebecca, who was trying to get Apache ready. She was doing it all wrong. Her braids were all different sizes, and Apache's tail braid was lopsided. Rebecca saw Lilli. "You showing tomorrow?" Rebecca asked. Lilli smiled cooly. "Oh, yes! I can't wait!" she said sarcastically. Rebecca grinned meanly. "I can't wait to take those blue ribbons from you" she said. Lilli just smirked and walked away. She was going to do put everything into those classes tomorrow.
