●• @stonefly: what a lovely design! I love those colors. if there's one thing I'd like to point out, it's that it looks like the lion only have one ''arm'', if you understand what I mean. But I love the face!
@Sabu: Oh my gosh, that is adorable <3 especially it's three eyes. the shading on it's face is wonderful.
@mythic: I have never been able to draw anything from that angle and make it look decent, but you did it very well. The only thing I'd critique is that the ears look unusually long. here and also here is a little bit on what the general shape of a canine's ear should look like - I understand that the creature is supposed to have long ears, but it's important to still keep the ears in a generally realistic shape, because right now they have kinda a banana shape which doesn't fit to the rest of the body, as the rest is quite realistic. I'm sorry if I sounded rude or anything, I'm really not good with this kind of stuff ;u; But good job with the legs. They are absolutely lovely! c: Keep practicing, I'd love to see more of your work.
----

here is a quick sketchy thing I did in SAI recently, I was trying out my friend's A5 tablet (it's so tiny compared to my A4 ;u; ) and it was actually not too bad to use. I don't know why the resolution of the drawing got this bad, maybe it's because I uploaded it to facebook, downloaded it again and uploaded to imgur. I'm not so interested in critique on the creature as I'm still developing it's looks, but I'd love some tips on how to make a ''space-ish'' backround. If anyone have any good tutorials on how to make space-backgrounds in either SAI or GIMP (preferably SAI), i'd love to see them.

@orion.
Wow, that picture is beautiful o: I don't draw a lot of backgrounds, so I can't critique it, sorry :c It is a lovely picture, though. I feel like I should probably get a tablet and try SAI sometime, because I've seen some really cool things come out of that program.
I've mostly been removing the limbs of my Clanheart and Flight Rising pets lately, but I've been drawing some dragons too, and experimenting with styles/tools.

They've been getting some good feedback on dA, so I think I might try drawing like that a bit more. (:
most of the three headed dragon was drawn from memory, and the patterns on the other one were referenced from multiple pictures I found on google images

@street soldier. - your drawings are really nice! i think you have the body and head shapes down really well for dragons, but heres one anatomical issue i saw.
if you look at a bat wing, which most dragon wings are based off of, you can see that theres an inward arch in the membrane at each one of their fingertips because it basically stretches across.

notice as well that the fingers arent just straight lines, and have joints in them. you can also see that they have a small 'thumb' (the wing is basically a hand) and the membrane goes all the way down to its feet and connects to its tail (not all bats have tails, however) which works to give it more lift so it doesnt just fall out of the sky. now, of course, dragons arent real, but these are just some things to consider when asking yourself how a dragon would actually work in real life!
i drew this ref of my new character in class yesterday and came home and digitized it! the file is massive because i took the picture with my phone, so beware lol. i actually really liked working in a super huge canvas, it let me get my lines really smooth. there are some things i dont like like the purple part of the cape that im going back to fix and some colors come out of the lines, so i wouldnt call it 100% finished yet.

I haven't posted in a long while, so I'll just respond to the most recent.
@orion.
I really like the drawing, as for galaxy backgrounds I think you should work with more colours, usually there are a lot more stars, some brighter, some not as bright, some almost invisible and they vary in size. As for the background colours I suggest working with different shades, for more depth you could use nebulas and so on. Some people also add different planets and moons etc. Here are tutorials that I like:
This one I find very easy to follow, this one is quite simple.
@Stonefly
My best advice is to constantly look at a reference and use references, but do make sure that your reference is royalty free because some wildlife pictures are copyrighted, as for the copyrighted ones, you can reach out to the photographer etc. and ask for permission.
@Mythic
The animal looks very off balance, like it is tilting forward and about to fall. I suggest that you look into perspective and again, try to use a reference pose. There are plenty on deviantart, where it's easy to reach out to the person and ask for permission, some pictures are completely free.
Now for my turn, here's what I've finished recently:

Any general advice would be appreciated, but please make it constructive criticism.
I've also tried my hand at drawing a cartoon human digitally for the first time, criticism and advice would be appreciated on this too.

@orion.
omggg that's so beautiful ;o; I can't even do that on SAI *-* The only thing I would add are 'more stars' in the background *v* It takes a long time but it would make it even more space-ey ;7; Well done though!
@street soldier.
I can't draw dragons very well ;7; But nice job!
@fright
looks amazing so far! I love the hair ;o; I would say to add shading but considering you're not 100% done, it looks gorgeous so far ;v;
@gwanu
I love what you did with the background! I can't draw furries very well so it looks amazing ;v; The only thing I would add to give it more 'mood' and 'balance' would be to add some foreground that covers the main image (the character) a bit and then blur it out so that it's like one of those high-resolution photographs... you know how the high-quality pictures blur out the background and the foreground? That's what I mean *v* (a bit like what I did with the feathers below)
-------------------------------
So... I decided to actually practice my skillsss and one of them is perspectives... mainly a bird's eye view perspective...

wHAT IS PERSPECTIVE EVEN PFFFFT
any criticism is welcome *-* I tried to practice colouring, line art, feathers and other stuff as well.
hehe, get it? bird's eye view... there are feathers... birdssss???
Thanks ;v; (if there are tips/tutorials on perspectives, that'd be great because I've been trying to look for those but I can't find anyyyy)

@gwanu
I really love the background of your painting. Looks super serene and beautiful.
@Paluumin
I would help you with your art, but the image isn't showing up for me.

EDIT:

There fixed the anatomy, tell me what you think now!
Ugh. I suck at anatomy. This is my species Volcara, even though I used some refs, it still looks sorta bad. A Critique on the anatomy would be great. It's supposed to be similar to a big cat

@corrigan - ooh love the face shape! & the hand ;_; someday I will be able to do hands like that. someday.
@gwanu - I'm gonna talk about the cartoon human bc I know nothing about dogs - the eyes and skin are amaaazing :0 I love that grim-sweet style! idk what you were going for with the mouth so you might have been looking for that older, sharp effect? so I can't really say anything about that. I'd love to see if you do any more human drawings :3
here's a little quick incomplete character sheet I've been working on:

I was going for androgynous under the makeup, but I kinda suck at drawing non-female-presenting/dfab people ;u; plus I have no idea what to fill the rest of the space with, oops. any advice appreciated!

@corrigan.
Thank you a ton for the ref, it's a perfect example of how to draw the front legs. I wish I had seen this earlier, wouldve made my life a lot easier. But it brings up another thing. After looking at the ref and back to my drawing, it feels like the body is a bit short. X3 but I'm not sure.
And the drawing you did was super nice. I love the colors. Beats any human I can draw out of the water.

@orion. - The ref I used actually only had those legs showing. But anyway this is about your art. I really love how the background looks. Since I am rubbish at space themed stuff I am in no place to give any advice or tips.
@Mythic - I have to agree with corrigan with the forearms. and the body looks a little short, I would say maybe lengthen it, but then again its your species so it guess its up to you. So far its looking great, and I love how you did that cloud coming from the shoulder. I would totally be interested in seeing the finished product.
@corrigan - what a lovely piece, its really well done.
I found an old drawing that I did from a few years back and I decide to re draw it..any tips or thoughts about this piece? Ignore the shadow..I need to re-do it.
