{Sorry for not posting forms yet ;A; I'm procrastinating, but at least half of them will be up by this weekend.}

.:Darkest Shadows:. wrote:The silence dominated once more. Tense silence filled the air, choking and surrounding him completely. But Batpaw hardly noticed. The clan may have been staring, but all they had to offer was even more silence. And pity. Batpaw really didn't need their pity, he kept telling himself. But it wasn't working. Every second that passed made him shake even more. I'm not a waste of life. I cannot be, too many sacrifices were made. the blind tom thought, repeating those words through his head. But no matter how he twisted the words in his head, the worst they sounded. History tended to repeat itself, and right now, the stupid saying his mentor had stuck in his skull was proving true. Batpaw snapped out of his temporary muddled state as Scorchstar strode forward, perhaps delivering the punishment. But it would never make up for what Hawkcry had done or said. Family? This was his family? One that would stab him in the back, torture him rather than help him? There was always that one, the one that he had to be wary of, the one that hated him. The one he had to watch his back around, the one that loathed him, understandable. But no one had come to his defense.

He wasn't blaming anyone for his weakness, he told himself. The problem was not one cat could give him his eyes back, or change whom he truly was. But where was the unity of a true family? Hawkclaw had been yowling as his claws racked down his cheek, and Batpaw knew his own yowls were anything but quiet. But why had they just gawked? Why hadn't they helped him? I'm not a waste of life. I cannot be, too many sacrifices were made. But it was failing. Just like everything else had. When Larkpelt yowled from right alongside him, Batpaw barely even flinched, although the shriek made his slate eyes roll into his skull. Now the tom came to help. Had he been out of camp? Batpaw was sure the young tom hadn't. Why hadn't he helped before Scorchstar had showed up? Where they afraid to stand up for him? Or was he that pathetic in their eyes, and they were just trying to getting to get on Scorchstar's good side? Regardless of how dark the thoughts were, they did the trick - Batpaw finally shifted, standing a bit straighter yet still looking like a cat in shock due to a real battle rather so than an apprentice muddled after a spar incident. The initial blow, though humiliating and painful, wasn't even the worst part of this.

Steadily Batpaw was realizing Hawkcry had brought much more to his attention. So, so much more. He still cried like a kit, was still helpless, but worst of all, alone. No one had helped him before Scorchstar had. No one. They all showed up after the leader had disarmed and stood down the massive tom. Batpaw felt cold all over suddenly. Doubled with the hole in his fragile mind, the young tom felt as if he would throw up all over himself. Cold to the point that the desert couldn't even warm him, Batpaw flinched away as Jaycloud's tail landed upon his petite body suddenly. Now they wanted to comfort him, guide him away, pity him. Not happening. Ripping away from Jaycloud, the blind tom stumbled numbly for the medicine cat's den. Scorchstar's powerful words reached his sensitive ears, but still, the numbness remained in his head. Even as he heard Hawkcry's heavy pawsteps echoing over the dusty earth as he stomped, enraged. But Batclaw felt n satisfaction because Starclan help him, he was headed to the den to get treated for his cheek and head. How was he supposed to avoid the massive tom?

It was impossible. For two moons, he would see Hawkcry everyday in the medicine cat's den - a place Batpaw actually liked. Even if the massive tom was miserable, it still wasn't worth it, because Batpaw was beyond miserable - it was the way things went. It seemed the massive tom had mastered how to make anyone more miserable than himself in any given situation. That, complete with the ability to manipulate his 'family' - so terribly in fact that they would only watch as he was beaten - made Batpaw increase his pace, wanting to be away from them all. Lashing his long tail, his slate eyes rolled further in his head, as if he wanted to hide rather so than get treated. For two moons, it would be a psychological war he would never be prepared for So, like he had been his whole life, Batpaw didn't have a choice. He had to bear the torture that was to be bestowed upon him with no hopes of escaping. Maybe he should have just crawled to the apprentice den like the kitten he was and hide 'till Hawkcry left the den for the night, but a promise was a promise. Too many sacrifices had been made for him to give up. He had to endure this torture. He had to. Batpaw kept repeating it, until he finally felt one last gush of pure rage. Hawkcry had done this to him, and was now on his ultimatum list, a list that only one cat before him had been placed upon. The initiation ritual? Four words. I hate you Hawkcry. Many a cat had probably said that in an argument, a silly squabble, a battleground. But Batpaw had only said those words twice, the second time being just now. Oh, he never forgave, never forgot. But, the thing is with us 'weaklings' is that we are tormented until we are forced to adapt, forced to become strong. And that is what I am, Hawkcry. I am weak now, but I will adapt. Watch me. But the words seemed to float - Batpaw needed more time, more preparation. And he knew it. Admitting was the first step, right? Padding to the entrance of the den spacious den, the tall tom cleared his throat, and rasped hoarsely, "Softberry? Tinypaw? Splashpaw?"

Snow watched as Thorn feasted upon the tender flesh of his lucky catch, noting the unease from the younger cat. But that was to be expected - in the harsh life of a rogue, you trusted no one. Snow was actually surprised that Thorn had been generous enough to let him stay, but hey, perhaps he pitied the old tom. The pearl tom felt a purr rumble in the back of his throat - a deadly mistake. Baby blue eyes locked on Thorn, amusement flickered in his shiny eyes as he saw Thorn's face contort in disgust. You were enjoying your delectable meal - now you scowl at the texture rather so than enjoy the taste and aroma? Ah, what it must be like, to take such small things for granted. Snow watched as Thorn exited the den, before lowering his head. Of course he wasn't about to sleep - no, he would lay there and brood, letting his emotions run their course before he analyzed why. Why. It was perhaps the greatest, most underestimate question in life. No, undoubtedly the most underestimate, Snow determined.

As Thorn reentered, Snow let his baby blue eyes following the younger tom, even once he'd settled down. It was then the silent stare began. Snow gazed into the emerald and light amber eyes of Thorn, almost able to taste the discomfort wafting from the tabbies pelt. More silence. Then, the older tom laughed softly. Silent? Icy? That wasn't his style, oh no, too obvious. Too discomforting, too disconcerting. Standing and stretching, the tiny tom mewed softly, "You don't have to worry, Thorn," Snow said, his honey coated mew softer than usual. Licking his pink nose, Snow continued padding towards the entrance - the sun was almost fully set, and the coyote howls were more frequent, yet the older tom didn't slow. "Rest. Why would I slew the one that showed me such kindness?" Snow said, offering a wide smile before exiting. Had anyone seen it, it was apparent something was troubling him - the bluntness of his words showed it. But, luckily for him, the knowledge was secret. "I'll be back after obtaining some moss." The lie of the century. Snow didn't bother stick around to see the young Thorn's reaction - he had some 'walking and collecting' to do. Heading towards the Falls slowly, Snow then took a right, headed for a rather precarious cliff not far away.

Mistcloud heard yowling that quickly grew louder - it sounded like a coyote mauling something. After falling, the large tom had decided to take a rest - after all, if he didn't have to, he wouldn't push his leg. Lifting his head, the older tom blinked open his jade open and lifted his head, laying there for a few moments. When the silence fell, Mistcloud decided to investigate and make sure everyone was alright, because in all honesty, the silence unnerved him more than the yowling - the silence was too abrupt. Sometimes warriors truly got into their sparring - if it was any other type of strife, he would've known, because someone would've sounded the alarm. But, still, something was amiss, even if it wasn't major. Probably some clan drama they truly didn't need, with all of the rogues out deciding to pay a visit. Now, they needed to be united more than ever, so Mistcloud dragged his tail out of bed I'd better go see what's going on. Standing up and stretching, the older warrior sat and began to lick his curly pelt clean, before finally exiting the den. The sun was burning low - it was beyond him why most were awake. Maybe it was time to decide upon deputy?

But Mistcloud didn't get much further than that. Seeing Scorchstar's angry stare and Hawkcry's attitude, not to mention Batpaw staggering around like he'd gotten into some deathberries let him know it was indeed clan drama. Experiences had taught him that poking at a raw wound only drew him in and made him part of the infection, so he padded into the medicine cat's den. Spotting Flowertail, the older warrior smiled, although he knew his jade eyes reflected his worry. "Hey Flowertail," he mewed, padding over to her nest and sitting. "How are you feeling?"

Lizardfang gasped exitedly. "I like like you too!" She purred and rubbed against Dustspeck. She was ecstatic! She was... relieved. She pressed her nose to his ear. "I- I love you," she whispered into his ear. She pulled back, her heart racing, pelt burning. Now what? "I don't know what to say..." She looked down at her paws, grinning like an idiot. "Will you, um... Will you be my mate?" The words felt so awkward coming out of her mouth. She never imagined that she would be saying those words at all, to any cat. The odd thing was, she knew that they were the right thing to say. She felt like she had, in some way, been preparing for something like this. She looked up and into Dustspeck's eyes, silently pleading for him to say yes.

Dustspeck

Dustspeck's body tensed, relaxing moments after. He wrapped his tail around her and let out a soft affectionate purr. He had never imagined himself with a mate, but then again he had never imagined himself in the clan but he was here. "Of course" he meowed, rasping his tongue along her ear. He felt his heart hammer in his chest as he looked down at her, his eyes sparkling slightly. He stared looked back up to the stars, his tail stroking her spine slightly. He stretched his legs slightly, his claws unsheathing into the smooth ground. His body felt sore and tired from his lack of sleep but he didn't want to move. He was happy sitting here with her.

{Looks like we've got our first mate pairing! I will be updating the relations on the new thread with these two.. I didn't even know they were a thing, haha. XD And, daw.. how cute is Lizardfang?}

Scorchstar watched the massive, dark brute stumbled off, cursing and grumbling something awful as he did so, and let a sigh escape his clenched teeth. The mighty, now calm and level-headed tomcat hissed lowly, almost inaudibly,"What am I going to do with him..? I cannot keep making excuses for his benefit - I must start punishing him more harshly.. When will he ever learn, that troublesome cat?" Shaking his skinny, well-defined head, the tabby turned his head away from Hawkcry and focused on Batpaw - who was shuddering and who looked on the verge of vomiting. He let out another weary sigh, knowing what must be done to save whatever was left of the blind cat's dignity, the impossibly tall cat followed Batpaw off to the medicine cats' den, skirting around Hawkcry without a word to reach the worn-out, defeated, bleeding apprentice. "Batpaw? I'm sorry if I'm interrupting something, since you're obviously trying to find Softberry or one of her apprentices, but can I speak to you for just a moment, please? There's something I've been meaning to discuss with you, and I feel as if the events of tonight have only heightened my urge to talk with you on.. a somewhat serious matter."

Hawkcry heard Batpaw slowly get himself together and trot after him - the awkwardness was awful between both of the injured, hate-filled cats, but the dark, pale blue-eyed tabby knew he had the upper paw. By crushing Batpaw's willpower, draining him of all hope, and by humiliating him, he'd done what he'd set out to do: make a powerful warrior out of the blind cat. Though Hawkcry's logic was very twisted to some, most likely, his plans for Batpaw made perfect sense to him.. The ebony, turquoise-eyed tomcat was brimming with loathing - the seasoned warrior could tell that much.. it radiated from the apprentice's skin, nearly, and hit him in waves.. But even so, his job was complete. He'd followed his mantra - that hatred breeds strong, capable warriors - and had, without Batpaw knowing it himself, made him stronger in the process of breaking him. Sure, the cat would despise his guts for life, but that didn't stir any kind of emotion in Hawkcry - he wasn't swayed by that. Now, it is up to Waspclaw to press that hatred and get him to use it properly.. And by properly, I mean to help our cause. I've done my part, now it is up to Waspclaw to fully bring Batpaw to our side.. I won't be of much use to Batpaw's training now, and there's no need to be involved any longer.
Hawkcry pricked his ears as he neared Softberry's den and heard Scorchstar's nimble, swift steps behind him and couldn't help but cast his head about. At the same time, Batpaw breezed by him, that familiar scent of hate and the desire for vengeance wafting from the tom, and went to the medicine cats' den before the dark tabby. He rolled his pale blue eyes and let out a little huff, tempted to snap at the blind male when he called out the three cats' names, I knew you were stupid, but not that stupid.. Can't you tell that they're not here, right now, kit? Oh, yes, I forgot... You can't see them, can you?
The egotistical, bleeding tom growled, his pupils narrowing to mere slits, and changed his course of direction a bit. He heard Scorchstar bound over to Batpaw, saw the orange tabby pull him aside and begin to talk with him in hushed tones, though he couldn't make out what they were saying. Hawkcry decided it best not to eavesdrop, though he really wanted to, and instead settled down outside the medicine cats' den. The dark brown tabby plopped onto his muscular, toned haunches, twisting his surprisingly agile head around to lick at his reopened shoulder wound while he awaited Softberry or one of her apprentices to return.

I've got him ensnared like a fly in a spider's web now.. But now that I've caught my prey, will I release it out of pity..? Or shall I devour it whole with m savage, cunning lies? Well, I choose lies. It's what I do best, after all.. Ant speculated, seeing the little bit of suspiciousness in the white, kitten-fluffed cat and picking up on it quickly. Convince I'm, better, then! Put on a show!
At the tom's slightly smart comment on her ability to scent the air and tell that there were cats around, the Abyssinian pulled back a little, mocking hurt in her narrowed, golden eyes. "You insult my hearing?" The dust-colored molly purred, though her voice had a bit more edge and had lost its sweetness. "I guess I was distracted.. I often roam about the desert at night and apparently I walked too far on this night in particular.. Can you deny me of my brief moment of daydreaming, then?"
Ant calmed down a a bit and forced some sugariness into her bewitching meow when he asked her name, stepping back from the tomcat and rising her abnormally long, whip-like tail high over her head, "My name, you ask? Well, you can call me Ant. Like the insect, yes. Yours?" In all my years, no cat has ever asked me the meaning behind my name.. Will you, younger one? Well, the answer to that is simple: my human tormentors named me after the most terrifying, vicious breed of ant... The bullet ant. Why?
Because I'll hit you like a bullet and you'll never see it coming. All you will have left of me is a serious of stunning welts on your skin, and then I'll be gone, on my way.. Off to capture some other little poor soul like yourself.

As Jackalhowl hesitated, he saw Scorchstar leap in between the two arguing cats - who had finally broken apart and were now cursing, it seemed, at one another rather vulgarly. The main coon sighed, shaking his brawny head with some annoyance. What had Hawkcry gotten himself into now?
Then, with a terribly late reaction to what was happening, Larkpelt sped forward to investigate, eyes wide and pelt spiked. Jackalhowl stared after him, brow furrowed into a frown, and called out, as the younger male passed him by, "Wha-? Larkpelt, cut it out, will you? The situation has already been resolved, you dunce. Look, Scorchstar just broke up the fight and there goes Hawkcry, of to take a punishment or something. Settle down, will ya?"
For once, the mottled, thickly-furred brute was annoyed by the tom's rash behavior. Can't he stop and take a look around before barging forward, screaming all the way? If he'd just sat back like me, he would've realized that Scorchstar had handled the problem well. Scorchstar isn't helpless, and surely he doesn't need Larkpelt's assistance.
To Jackalhowl's surprise, Cactusfoot didn't make a peep on the stupidness of Larkpelt. Maybe he'd finally realized what a grump he'd been and had stopped being so pessimistic and wry? Jackal howl regarded the much older brute out the corner of one, wide, yellow-green eye, and the observing of the tabby was subtle, innocticable. Eventually, the mottled main coon jerked his head around back to Larkpelt, how now looked embarrassed after Jaycloud andJackalhowl had harassed him.

When Halfpaw didn't respond to her bombarding questions, the molly let out a loud harrumph and turned away from the bloodied, one-eyed, introverted male. If he's not going to answer my questions, then I won't give him the time of day. I say losing his eye serves him right for getting involved with a rogue! How stupid can a cat get, in all honesty..?
Remembering what she came to the Falls for, the petite oriental shorthair strutted away from the black, depressed tomcat and made her way across the sandy earth to the nearby river. With one last annoyed glare at half paw, who was watching her with wide, saddened, amber eyes, Flarepaw plunged into the cool, yet slightly warm, rapidly-rushing waters. She knew about the deaths that had occurred here - like Grasstooth's so many moons ago - which is why she stuck to the shallows of the river, not wanting to be swept away and drowned. Flare paw had always been a tough, well-rounded swimmer, and could glide through any water with ease, but not even her powerful legs could withstand the superior strength of the liquid.. So the cunning female bathed herself of the mouse bile odor while her feet still touched the pebbles that made up the bottom of the river.
Before long, her thin, ebony pelt was clean, and when she could not longer smell a hint of the vile, doors smell of mouse puke, Flarepaw slid rather elegantly as well as arrogantly out of the river. The molly, young as she was, knew clearly how beautiful she was to the eye, and tended to flaunt it every chance she got. But she was a heartbreaker, even at eleven moons old - her looks could enrapture any male, secure any mate, but her tongue was searing her her eyes were cold..
Spitting at Halfpaw, she shook out her rumpled pelt right beside his face before trotting off, back up the gorge, with her fur still sopping wet and her angular head arched high.

Noeyes' head flitted from between the two. It was obvious how much Sandystrike cared for her cousin.. and obvious how much she intended to keep him safe until the last breath left her body. Of course, Rattlestorm was a special tom, even the blind elder could pick up on that by the way he constantly stumbled and toppled to the earth. The Russian blue pitied the young warrior, but believed in him at the same time..
She meowed to Rattlestorm, sweetly, but her ears were still pinned back to hear what had become of the fight behind her, "Though you may not believe it, your cousin is only trying to do what is best for you, dearie.. What if you waltzed out of camp and met the fangs of a jackal? Especially at this time of day... They're sure to be roaming about, waiting for some cat to wander away from the safety of his family." Her brusque, slightly chiding tone turned into something more light, and she added, a purr oozing from her scraggily-furred throat, "I think you should do your best to listen to Sandystrike, young'un.. Like I said, she only has your best interests at heart. And, no, of course you didn't bother me. Just wanted to 'see' what was what and investigate." Nosey trailed off a bit, changing the subject like any old cat would, "I heard a fight going on.." She waved her tail in the direction she'd heard the screeching emanate from, concern now scrawled across her face. "Can you tell me what is happening..? It sounds as if the fighting has stopped, but I'm still wondering what occurred.."

Softberry

Softberry had just caught sight of Batpaw slipping into her den and the metallic tang of blood was hanging in the air. The medicine cat increased her pace and padded in after the blind apprentice, so that he would have to stop. "I had guessed that something happened - now explain the story to me." The usual soft tone was absent from the molly's voice, mostly because she was harsh on herself - she'd almost missed treating Batpaw because she was talking with a rogue. Lovino. The thick-furred tabby put that out of her mind, for now, and went to the back of her den to fetch herbs and then came back out. She could see Hawkcry's fur in between the apprentice's claws and could scent him in the air, so he would be coming in soon enough. Obviously she didn't know of the punishment that would be handed to her - though most warriors knew not to disobey a medicine cat. Though Hawkcry was always a rebel, Softberry was sure she could keep the tom in check. He could have a sharp tongue and cold claws but the medicine cat could be harsher than hell if she was pushed.

Lizardfang resisted the urge to leap into the air like a kit. "Now what?" she asked, laughing lightly out of giddiness. "We could, um, you know, but only if you want to." She glanced around camp at the many cats lingering about. "And definitely not here." She purred, enjoying the feeling of Dustspeck's tail on her back. She leaned against him a bit, drowsiness overtaking her nimble body. "Maybe not tonight," she mewed, yawning. Lizardfang looked back up at the darkening sky, smiling. Her mind raced with thoughts of kits dashing playfully around her paws. She almost laughed thinking about when she did that with her brother. Hopefully she and Dustspeck would get along better than her parents. Interestingly enough, it was almost endearing how her parents argued over every single thing. Her dream from when she was younger of having kits, something she hadn't thought about in a while, had been happily reawakened.

Dustspeck perked his ears and turned to her, his heart pounding "Whenever you want" he meowed softly. He couldn't help but think about kits playing in the camp. Running circles around his paws. Lizardfang curled in the nursery with kits at her stomach. He rasped his tongue along her ears gently, his tail flicking. The sky was dark aside from the sparkle of the stars above them. He thanked StarClan silently for giving him the cat beside him, his tail wrapping around her haunches, intwining itself with hers. He felt his heart rate pick up as she looked at him. He hoped that he would make a better parent than his mother, although she tried her hardest she hadn't always been around for him and his sister.

Lizardfang looked into Dustspeck's eyes. "Really?" she asked, sitting up. She could see the worry in his eyes, and somehow knew what it was about. "Don't worry. Our kits will grow up with all the attention they deserve." 'Our kits.' The words rang in her ears. Had she really said that? No matter, Dustspeck was her mate now. Talk like this was normal. She stood up, stretching her striped legs. "Come along then," she mewed. Her heart leaped at the prospect that she would have kits.

    "I'm sorry but I can't ma'am. We have strict policies here in the clan and since our leader is overwhelmed with rouges and outcasts he wouldn't be happy to see you here. I ask you to leave this place for your own satiety. Any you say? Now I'm curious in where that name come from. If you don't mind could you tell me? Also they call me Tinypaw and it's obvious why." He meowed befor giving a small sigh not liking being named after his height. The small medicine cat apprentice then sat down now giving his full attention into Ant still having suspicious narrowed eyes. They had lightened up a bit though Tinypaw was still curious in why this she cat was truly here. If it was her stupid daydreaming then of coarse, he would have no problem lashing out.
