She watched as he slid his hood off, and she couldn't believe what he looked like underneath. Furry ears, stripes of multiple different patterns, and a black-ish tiger looking nose. It was really amazing, what the scientists were able to do with one simple syrum. Did the hybrids like it, being half human and half animal? She presumed that most didn't, because of the glares she could feel burning into her back. Then he joked with her, which honestly eased some of the nervousness she was feeling. "Human." She answered with a slight chuckle. Hopefully he was just joking because he was trying to be friends with her or something of the sort, and not making a plan to do something terrible in the future. That had always been her worst fear; that any friends she had made would turn on her at some point, just because she was an intern for the scientists. "Your face is really cool, if you don't mind me saying." she said with a smile, hoping that she had said the right words. 'Cool face' didn't really sound like the best compliment in the world.

Alex's smile widened, and he ducked his head slightly, feeling awkward as she looked his facial features over. He glanced back up at her, "Your face looks cool too," he said with a laugh. Alex shuffled his feet on the tile floor, his shoes squeaking. In the orphanage, he had things to talk about. Now he was just a science experiment. For all he knew, Summer could think he was a hideous beast and that she was just playing nice. What if they planned to do more experiments on him? What if Summer was just a distraction? He chuckled to himself, That wouldn't be that bad. I just get through training and do what they say, then I'm free. For now I just need to chill and have fun.

She was happy to see his smile widen, since she hadn't seen certain in the first place if he would take it the wrong way or not. She didn't know if he was trying to ease tension or akwardness, but he seemed to keep joking. She wasn't complaining, of course. "Well, thanks." she said with a smile, the lightest and faintest blush rising to her cheeks. She never really liked compliments, since they were often from her mother or friends. They were never from strangers, let alone guys. But now was the time that the little silence situated itself between them. Summer had just run out of things to say; she could exactly ask where he had grown up, or introduce him to her friends.

Summer's cheeks had only blushed slightly, but Alex could see it. He felt heat build up in his own face, which led to his entire coat changing to the color of a pale pink. It was his own version of his face getting red, though his camouflage coat power affected how he blushed. He froze for a moment with panic, until he realized that his hoodie and jeans hid what had happened. All anyone else could see was his face reddening like any other person's face does. He relaxed, he still seemed kind of normal. Alex liked his powers, but what would Summer think? She's just another scientist… eh, that's okay. Smiling, he tried to lighten the mood by bringing up another conversation. "So what' the plan for today? Or, like…" He paused, not really sure how to put it, "What are you going to do today? Like, for your job as a scientist?"

She couldn't help but notice the blush that had appeared on his face, just as hers had, and it made her want to laugh. She had never made someone do that before, but people had made her do that many times over. She seemed to notice a bit of panic in his eyes, but she had no idea what it could have been from. Was it the fact that he had blushed? But the ideas and questions she had made their way to the back of her mind when he spoke again. And she was thankful that he had. "I honestly have no idea. So far I've just counted how many people are in the room." she chuckled lightly, shaking her head. "Extremely tough job." she joked, her smile remaining on her lips as she spoke once more. "How about you? What kind of training do you want to do?" she asked. To the best of her knowledge she knew the hybrids would be training, but she didn't know exactly what each of them would be doing. Did they even get to choose?

As he talked of it being nice to meet her, she nodded in agreement. It was better to have someone actually take an intrest in you and try to become friends rather than the people who mutated you. But she could only imagine what was going through his mind at that moment. Could he be judging her? Thinking she was too quiet? Or maybe he was thinking about who else he could talk to? Or perhaps he wasn't thinking about her at all, which was good and bad in its own ways. As he made another statement she simply shrugged, not entirely sure what to say. It was something that she felt required a long explanation, and she would rather not draw out an entire response. But she didn't want him to leave. She racked her brain for something to say, but nothing came to mind. She just couldn't do it. She was never able to.

Alex took in what she said with a serious face, and lowered his tone to as deep as he could. "I see, Ms. Summers. That is a very tough job that only a skilled scientist like you could handle," Alex said as he tried to make himself look as sophisticated as possible. His still, expressionless face broke into a laugh, unable to contain his amusement. "Training? I'm not sure… We haven't done much. As far as I know, we are training for what we could possibly excel in. My powers enable me to sneak through shadows if I wished, so I would assume I would be trained to use my power to do that. But then again, maybe all they want to train us to do is fight," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "Do you know what we are doing?"

She couldn't help but laugh when he joked around once more. "You know, I think you matched their voice perfectly!" she giggled, a hand making its way up to her mouth to hide her smile. Her smile was just one of the many things she wasn't proud of, and she often hid it. She listened intently as he continued on, and she shook her head as his words came to a close. "I have no idea. I am literally as clueless as you are." she said, her smile finally fading so she could lower her hand from her lips.
