Often, many odd looks are thrown her way whenever she speaks, but Nokomis rarely ever lets them bother her.
Living in a new world has taught Nokomis to be very cautious. She has learnt that people in society these days are unpredictable, and that she should be extremely careful while walking the streets at night. Nokomis is very likely to find someone trustworthy and cling to them for dear life. Honestly, she wants nothing more than to help others and do good for them. She will often give money to the homeless, as she has lived like them before and has sympathy for them.
Nokomis has always had problems with her vision. During the day, the edges of her sight are dim, like a thick, black fog is surrounding her. She's a little short-sighted, which makes her very clumsy. She is often bumbling around, walking into things and knocking items off tables. At night, however, her vision is increased to an amazing level. She can see sharply, and can spot the tiniest detail from far away - like the writing on someone's brooch from all the way across the road.
Nokomis' biggest passion is astronomy. She loves the stars, and often says "Though the world is always changing, the stars will forever remain the same." On a clear night, you will often find her sitting in the open and mapping out the constellations. Nokomis found her love for this when she realized her vision was only good at night.

Her last investigation was into horror movies, which didn't go too well. She still has many questions about this new world she lives in, but often hold back on flooding her companion with them. Nokomis' long-lost cousin. The pair have a certain bond - a gene that makes them immune to many diseases. The gene can be traced back many centuries, to a pair of polar opposite Beans. Their child carries the gene, but it is only active in some relatives.

Nokomis was born in London on October 31st, 1815. She was born to poor parents - her mother, Katherine Décès, worked in a sewing factory for at least eight hours a day, six days a week. Her father, Charles Décès, worked in the factories for ten hours a day, seven days a week. When Nokomis was two, another child was born into the family. Nokomis' younger brother, Xander. Xander fell violently ill when he was 11, and died within a week from tuberculosis.
When Nokomis was old enough, at 8 years of age, her father sent her to work in the sewing factory. Nokomis was never in school, as her family were too poor to afford it. She worked in the sewing factory with her mother (as only girls were allowed to work there), all of her knowledge coming from other children around the factory.
She kept this job, even after she was 18. It provided her with enough money to earn her share of food in her household.
Nokomis' and her life-long best friend, Mary-Anne, were inseparable. It was the day before Mary-Anne's eighteenth birthday when Nokomis was out looking for a gift. She had saved up anything they could spare in order to get her friend a beautiful birthday gift. Today, Nokomis was heading down to the jewelers to buy a silver heart locket. Nokomis had her eyes on it for a while, and finally it was hers. Nokomis made the purchase, spent some time putting in photos of the two of them together, and headed on home to wrap the gift. She was only five minutes away from her little house when out of nowhere, a gang of teens blocked her. They wielded knives, and threatened to kill Nokomis if she didn't give them everything she had. Not wanting her friends birthday to be ruined, she denied having anything. After a few seconds of silence, the gang converged on her, one of the masked figures smashing a bottle over Nokomis' head. She was knocked unconscious.
Later, she awoke. Trapped inside of a wooden box. When she dug her way out, she noticed that she was in a graveyard, standing by her own headstone. And so, she was introduced into the modern world of 2001.

Many, many centuries ago, in the time where Jellybean Dragons were still adapting to the world, two families lived. One, an upper-class family in which royal blood flowed. The other, a family of homeless Beans who survived on basic instincts - stealing to live. Though these two families were different in every way, they had one thing in common. They each had a single child. Unknown to these families, each of the children carried a special gene that, when activated, would give the child of the two gene-bearers a rare immunity.
By chance, these two Beans met on the road in passing. The female, born to the royal family, walked past the scruffy male, who begged them for money as they passed. The bond they formed in that moment brought them together many years later, and another child was born.
The genes that the two Beans carried were activated when the child was born, and the baby was immune to many diseases.
Fast-forwards a few centuries, and Nokomis is born. She carries the immunity gene. However, no other Beans in her time carry the gene, and so no bond was made. When Nokomis was murdered, she came back to life over 100 years later. The immunity gene had been activated by another Bean who carried it. This other Bean was Nokomis' long-lost cousin, Pestilence.
