Himalaya Matt Kanter, finally in her teenage years!
Himalaya's grown up a bit- she no longer has an instinct to nibble on each new thing she sees. Much to her own embarrassment, she still has a habit of chewing on the ends of her pencils, and sometimes bites her nails when she's nervous. She tries to catch herself and stop doing it when she's in public, as she's been mocked for it in the past.
She's a bit of a country girl, having been raised on a ranch. She's never spent much time in the big city, and though she's loathe to admit it, is a little intimidated by the thought of the big buildings and crowds of people. She wants to explore and experience new things, but she plans to save large cities for last.
As a hobby, she enjoys map-making. She's already mapped out the area around her home and school, and can't help but feel restless. She wants to travel, perhaps sail the seas, and record all the different kinds of bugs and plants she can find. Her most treasured possessions are her old Rainbow plush, which is worn and stained with age, and her handwritten field guide. The field guide contains all the maps she's made, along with drawings and information about all the plants and creatures she's found in the area. The book is very thick, with many different papers of varying ages shoved inside.
