xxxxxSpirit Foxes are creatures that exist only in the spirit world, and can look into the "spirits" of other beings. Whether it be a plant, animal, human, or other; Spirit Foxes can observe their intentions, personalities, memories, basically their entire being as a soul is what makes a being themselves.
xxxxxSpirit Foxes are not actually foxes...in fact, as they exist in the spirit world they aren't really anything but beings themselves. And very rarely are they seen by the things they study the souls of; they're named solely based on what one or two people have said. Because their soul-studying requires a lot of meditating, each Spirit Fox has a song(instrumental) that their soul "sings" while they work.
xxxxxSpirit Foxes are about as large as a Gray Fox, and are usually found with natural colors(unnatural highlights are fairly uncommon) and always have blank eyes due to their own soul being outside of their bodies, hovering around them somewhere, and their smaller secondary eyes is what allows them to actually view the physical world in the first place. Their auras and their soul colors almost always match. On top of this, all spirit foxes are void of sex and gender - though some may choose to use pronouns they discover in their studies.
xxxxxBecause it's frowned upon to allow your own soul to enter your body, Spirit Foxes are always in an Astral Projection - or Out of Body - state, which is what allows them to explore the souls of others. However, very rarely do they actually leave the spirit world and when they do they must be extremely cautious as to not be spotted.
xxxxxSpirit Foxes are, overall, very curious beings and while they have strict rule-bound societies to keep them hidden they spend a majority of their time choosing a type of being and studying it. Each Spirit Fox has their own being to study, as they try to understand the physical world and her inhabitants.
