I was in the camp, and that was all that mattered. This camp was the only safe place in the world for people like, like me. I sighed, sitting down to read my book. I was wearing a jacket, even though it was the middle of summer, but I wanted to hide my scales and my gills. I never wanted anyone to know about them.

I was running into the forest, but I didn't know where I was going until I saw a group of people in the distance. I gripped my backpack straps tightly as I crept closer and closer to the group, my wings rustling the leaves.
