Since you said in plain sight I believe it's already grown into a pup. I haven't seen these two mentioned much at all o:

I feel like if this where Schu's pup, Morningstar would be it's name because it looks a little like the pup'll become a sun rising over the ocean (dawn). In other words, morning star.

Dunno about you guys but I think lyu's theory sounds good o:

For one, the eye kind of has a morning star-esque appearance, plus the paws could be like flames or something. I know not all the colors from the palette are visible, that is to say, yet, because who knows what it looks like when it is grown c:

The song Schu quoted is from Wolf's Rain and it is called "Heaven's Not Enough" I believe and it kind if reminds me about the story of Lucifer and all, and then the song talks about living under a different name, and talks about forgetting yourself and others, so like "Who am I?" fits right in.

But I could just be getting this all wrong cx

I don't think there's a cat with the name Morningtail or something... usually they use 'dawn'.
