Mahogany moved silently in the shadows until she heard the footsteps and then the scent of another horse. She flared her nostrils uneasily as she watched something gallop past her. It was that little foal, Nessa. Mahogany's eyes softened, she greatly liked the foal and the foal didn't mean harm to her anyway. The mare relaxed as she took to her grazing grounds.

Nessa slowed to walk and sighed. Was she far enough away? turning around, she glanced through the trees, checking she was safe. Snorting, she turned and walked through the forest, in a direction she hoped would take her back to the others

Chance raised her head, her ears pricked as she looked around her. Snortign softly, she lowered herself to the ground, her legs tucking under her and her head resting on the ground. Lying there, the mare thought things through, what had happened with Mahogany that day and what had happened with everyone else.
